... 6 months and think it is by far the best manual can opener I’ve ever used
I’ve been using this for about 6 months and think it is by far the best manual can opener I’ve ever used. I even bought one for my 75 year old mom and she absolutely loves it. It makes opening cans of tuna fish a breeze. As anyone old enough can tell you, the cans used today for tuna fish are ridiculously thin and lots of times are difficult to open. Not with this opener as it simply works. The grips and especially the handle part that you turn are very comfortable to use. I honestly couldn’t be happier with this purchase and I’m seriously considering buying another just to have as a spare. There’s nothing worse than being extremely satisfied with a product and over the years it eventually breaks and the replacement product just isn’t as good. I think OXO definitely hit a home run with this can opener.

Here's to the Next 2 Decades
This was the very first can opener I owned. I purchased it over 21 years ago and basically had a fit when it started to fail over the last 6 months. Begrudgingly I ordered a replacement. I was optimistic when I saw that the same model was still available over 2 decades later. Of course, I expected today's version to be substandard. But.... It's actually great!!! I'm so happy.

Just get it!
Just get it! If you’re like me you’re probably reading tons of reviews on can openers and you’re probably wondering why the heck there are so many can openers and SO MANY REVIEWS AND SUDDENLY YOU'RE OVERWHELMED AND YOU'VE JUST LOST HOURS OF YOUR LIFE LOOKING FOR A DARN CAN OPENER!! So let me do you a favor and tell you that this one is fine. It opens cans without an issue and isn’t crazy expensive. Just get it.

A Great Can Opener
We have purchased several manual can openers during the last few years. They all seem to work ok, but are hard to use and generally do not last long. I have heard many good reviews of OXO products, and decided to check the Amazon reviews on this can opener. Based on these, I ordered one, and we're thrilled with the product. It was naturally a little more expensive than the cheaper models that we had previously purchased. However, it required very little energy to open the can. My wife has a physical problem with her hand, so this is especially good for her. And, the can is cleanly opened. Both my wife and I are thrilled with this purchase.

Very sturdy too.
Defeats tin cans in record time. Able to leap small buildings in a single bound...plus it's shiny. Very sturdy too....wife hit me the head with it (which is how the last one broke) and it didn't even bend it

My Bae!!
My old, faithful friend, Oxo good grips, bit the dust after almost 15 years. We bought a different can opener. Garbage. We bought another one. Complete garbage. Went to Amazon, praying they could replace my old Oxo. And there it was: my new Bae!! There are some design differences: the Turner knob is hollow. The handles look to be more waterproof than the original. (Dont leave your opener in dishwater as I was prone to do) I recently had carpal tunnel surgery, so opening ANY can was difficult. Not with my new Bae! The action, while not as velvety as my old one, chews through the lids like... well, a very good can opener with sharp blades. FAST. EASY. I ordered another one to put into backup status. I'll probably open it up in 15 or so years. LOVE THE OXO!!!

Makes a previously painful job simple and painless
First up... a detail about me. I've got fibromyalgia. It makes some simple things more painful than they should be.... like opening cans :) With my previous can opener I would dread making sauce because the giant tomato cans would end up hurting my hands a bunch. So, I'd do it but I wouldn't be happy about it and I might delay a job because I wouldn't want hand cramps/pain. Also, I was too much of a cheapskate to buy a new can opener. Then one day my old manual can opener broke/died/got stuck so I had to buy a new one. I looked for a good one and came upon this one which was well rated and inexpensive. Plus the reviews made it look like it fit the requirements I had. Turns out it was just that. I can now tear through cans with no problems or pain. I love this tool.

Strong & Steady
The Oxo can opener is a work-horse. It is strong, well-made and plows through whatever you give it, with ease. I've had this one before & after years, it finally gave out & was hard to turn. But in buying an alternative from another company, I quickly realized the mistake & went right back to Oxo to buy another. This one is so sturdy that it will last for a very long time and I'm really glad I bought it again. Update: We use this opener almost every day, it still looks new & functions perfectly. One thing I learned is to wash it, then put about 1 or 2 layers of paper towel for it to chew on. Rolling it through the paper towel will clean & dry it so no rust forms.

A Well Made Can Opener
We like manual can openers, but they don't seem to like us after a year of service. We decided to forego the openers sold at the supermarket and get one that's durable and will still be operating after 12, 13, 14 months. We read the reviews of various can openers and decided on the OXO Good Grips Can Opener. You can tell from its construction that this opener will be around for a loooong time.

It does work!! :)
Yes!! It ACTUALLY works like it should!! I have bought openers from the dollar store (lesson learned there!), My local grocery store, mom n pop shops who swore they worked but didn't. It's been horrible. I saw this in a review of good ones, on a consumer site, I forget where, but they did comparisons, of the side cutters & top cutters. I prefer top cutters, so I thought, "meh, why not?".... Boy was I surprised!! It fits perfectly in your hand, the twist knob is a little awkward for me..kinda big, but nothing I can't deal with, since my pay-off is that IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!...lol....
