Have had this one for several years. Use it mainly to heat water quickly. Bottom discoloration from minerals in my water. Otherwise perfect. Great product, nice clean design and does have a big footprint on my counter.

My wife and I have found what we have been searching for with this item. We are enjoying it very much. The construction is better than the others. We will let you know how it holds over time. Thank You

This coffee maker is like the one I use to use over 50 years ago. I don't drink alot of coffee, but the difference between the taste of coffee made in this Perculator vs the new ones is a world of difference. Will take this perculator over any of them. Great coffee every time

I've been using these percolators for years. They have an oversized heating element and a design that brews the coffee very quickly, about a minute per cup. The brew is also piping hot when finished. I dislike luke-warm coffee as is typical of drip brewers and wimpy percolators. Most conventional drinking cups equal about two of the stated coffee pot cups. Hence, the eight-cup pot yields an effective four cups of drink with the averaged-sized mugs I use. The four-cup model is great for one person usage. The problem with the Farberware units is that they do not seem to have a long life. Every 2 to 4 years, I end up replacing them. They tend to burn out. Back in the old days, when they were made in the USA, one could buy replacement parts and repair them. I did that often, normally replacing either the heating coil or the thermostat. The pots were much more expensive back then too. Several years ago Farberware closed their US plant and these pots are all made in China or somewhere off-shore now. Their price dropped but everything in them is welded together now and repairs are not possible. Farberware joined the current "use and throw-away" business model. Unfortunately, this is market-driven. People would not pay the price of the old pots that you could keep going for years. Anyway, its the best percolator going, despite these considerations. Very fast and very hot. Priced competitively.

These coffee pots are from our parents/ grandparents generation and still they make the best coffee. Yes we have all this new technology that can make a single cup at a time or can pour into a regular cheep coffee pot. But this 1 right here this farberware coffeemaker will last for years. This 1 I actually bought for my grandmother who needed a new 1. The 1 she had prior to this 1 was the exact same and lasted her over 30 years at least. It is very durable and very easy to clean. Yes they cost more money than a regular coffee pot you get at a store or online but those one have to be replaced every few years... Or you get a coffeepot that makes a single cup at a time where people don't realize when that coffee is going through the cheap plastic lines in the machine to then go out and in the cup that all kinds of bacteria gets in it. Yes you can clean it obviously but even still do you really think it get it all if you use it every day? Not a chance. But now a coffee pot like this is basically what you see in the commercials where you can smell the aroma of the coffee beans itself. Which that's a fact I've noticed over the years from when she has her coffee during the day. Also its only a couple peices that can go in the dishwasher and really get cleaned where you don't have too worry about bacteria or anything like that. So next time you think about buying a coffee pot I really do recommend this faberware pot. They make smaller 1s and bigger 1 depending on how many cups you want it too make but you should definitely go with this brand. They have a few other older brands 1s like this 1 as well which I can't tell you how they are but I can tell you most of them are made the same with durable pots and not some cheaply made plastic pot. Now yea you might be reading this review and thinking it's just a coffee pot but than you start to think about what I said how it will last literally for years and years and you don't have too worry about bacteria building up in it either. Really think about that because with all the recalls that have been on tv with food lettuce etc that all has too do with bacteria. So now thinking yea 1 less thing too worry about in general by buying a coffee pot like this is actually really worth it and you don't have too worry about the bottom of the pot getting burnt or anything like that with this and if you buy 1 it will literally be the last coffeemaker that you will ever need to buy... So that's my review on this and honestly I barley give reviews unless its something that will save people money in the long run and will be better too NOT worry about any other bacteria like with all the recalls either food that's been going on the news lately...

We purchased the Faberware FCP280 8-cup Percolator after having the 4-cup model. We are so happy with this percolator and will never purchase anything else. It makes really good, "hot" coffee! We use Green Mountain coffee beans, but this pot even makes Maxwell House taste like a gourmet coffee! We had a Keurig K-cup coffeemaker, but it yielded "warm" cups of coffee. We yearned for a really good tasting, HOT, cup of coffee. Unlike the premeasured K-cups, you can adjust the amount of coffee you brew to suit your taste -- more coffee in the brewing basket yields a bolder, stronger pot of coffee, less for a weaker pot. Also, we love how it fills the kitchen with the delicious aroma of coffee brewing--very welcoming! It perks coffee super fast -- full pot of coffee ready in about 1-1/2 to 2 minutes. It automatically moves to a "warming" cycle to keep the coffee fresh-brew hot, but it does not continuously perk, so the coffee does not get over-cooked or bitter. I would highly recommend the Faberware FCP280 8-cup Percolator for anyone who wants a really nice, HOT cup of coffee, just like the good ol' days.

Do you like percolator coffee? Do you like HOT coffee? This makes a solid cup of coffee extremely fast. The heater drops to a lower (but still very hot) temperature after perking is finished. The stem, basket and entire reservoir is made of stainless steel. I have purchased 5 different percolators in the last 5 years; this is the only one I have found that lives up to my expectations. I expect that this pot will last for years and years. Most percolators have poorly made stems/baskets that fall apart with any regular use. This pot has an extremely robust and well made stem/basket. I love it.

I owned the exact model for years. Once it gave it up, I looked to order another. The reviews are mixed: you love it or you don't. I hesitated to order, based upon some of the negative feedback. But my first one was so wonderful, I decided to go again. I have not been disappointed. This is a great coffee pot which makes delicicious tasting coffee. I'm crossing my fingers that I don't experience the troubles which some other folks have. In the meantime, my coffee tastes sooooo good. Update August 17, 2017: Still lovin' the coffee pot. It makes really great coffee and keeps it hotter than most other options. However, the handle broke off of the lid after just 18 months. Honestly, the spot weld really was not the best choice they could have made when manufacturing this coffee pot. In looking at the reviews, this is a common problem. A trip to the local hardware store resolved the issue for under $3. Just buy a cabin knob and you are good to go.

Have been making coffee in a Farberware electric percolator, made in NYC, that we received as a bridal shower gift in 1973. (Simpler times with simpler gifts). We used it on and off over the years, and it worked like a champ until this month when it just stopped brewing. No one around anymore to repair small appliances in a our throw away society. So we decided to try this one, looks essentially the same except for the lack of the clear see-through cap on top so you can see the coffee brewing. Thought the top from the old one would fit on the new pot but no good. Anyway, the coffee produced by the new pot came out every bit as good and as fast as our old one. The fit and finish appear just as good. I doubt this one will last 46 years but neither will we. Highly recommend.

Had to get this for my husband - he had this same one years back and it stop working after a lot of use - it paid its dues. Got another different brand but he said the coffee was not as hot. This arrived yesterday and last night he had a big smile and a hot cup of coffee with no complaints
