No problem. Easy peezy.
This worked perfectly. I don't understand how anyone could have trouble with it. I measured the other holes on the belt to decide which punch to set it on. There were no instructions included, but all you do is use a screwdriver to loosen the stopper, set the punch to be positioned over the brass pad, retighten the screw, and make sure the lock is off. Then just put it where you want it, and squeeze. I used it repeatedly the first day to convert some of my old belts into ones to fit my six-year-old. She is pretty thin, and even children's belts need an extra hole or two to fit her properly.

Good product at a good price
I bought the punch to replace one I had lost. This was for punching a new hole in a leather belt as well as punching holes in marine canvas to make way for snaps. The punch pliers appear to be of good build and no different than the old punch which was twice the price. In fact, the same type of revolving punch is listed at nearly 3 times the price on a site that specializes in boating and marine canvas. I expected something poorly put together, light, and imprecise. What I got was a great tool for years to come, and, a nice surprise.

MAKES HOLE IN LEATHER!
It works really well. The holes are perfectly round and have a finished appearance. I would totally buy it again if a needed a second leather hole punch. One complaint: I wish it opened a little wider to accommodate thicker leather. I was afraid I was going to scratch my belt as I forced it into the jaws to punch a new hole.

Better than others of this type, happy
Not sure why others have had problems. I've used this kind of punch tool for 30 years and this one works very well. I like to squeeze until the punch pops through the leather than pivot the piece around the punch while the punch tool is still closed, ensuring complete cut. This tool is higher quality than many others of this kind. Very positive lock into place as the punch wheel is rotated. Buy with confidence. If you never used this type of tool before, slight learning curve but very easy after a few tries.

Purse straps! Solved!
Have you ever been not quite millennial enough to jump on the crossbody bag bandwagon? Have you ever been not quite mom-bag enough to want to carry a giant tote big enough to fit an actual toddler in it? Problem solved. Punch excellent holes in your crossbody bag's strap to make it a compact shoulder bag a la 2001, the era of early Beyonce, those platform sneakers, and that weird seatbelt-strap purse that everyone wanted. The era of early Maroon 5. Be thoroughly out of style but comfortable.

Useful product
Sometimes having an extra hole at the end of my belt makes eating my meal that much more enjoyable. This tool was perfect for that job! It's very easy to use. Rotate the wheel until you find the hole that matches the ones in your belt. (There are six sizes to choose from.) Mark the place where you want to punch and press until you hear a "click" sound. If the belt is too thick, you may have a hard time making it work. I found out that if I put the belt on the floor and press the lever with all my might, it works. If it still doesn't go through, just turn the belt on the other side and align the spot and press again. (You may need to do this a number of times.) So far this punch pliers have made a clean hole in everything I tried. You need to clean the punchers after every use. I used a safety pin to poke out the material and it worked very well. (The punchers need to remain hollow for it to work properly.) My punch pliers are coated with black rubber which made holding this gadget more comfortable. So far, I've made extra holes on my belts and handbags. I'm very pleased with my purchase!

punched nice clean round holes without much effort
Acceptable quality, i bought it to punch holes in earplugs to use as home made comply type earbuds, works perfectly for that purpose. I punched holes in cardboard no problem, which takes quite a bit of force. Also tried it out on an old belt, punched nice clean round holes without much effort. It's not a high quality tool, it uses rivets instead of bolts, which i'm sure will eventually loosen up, it's powder coated metal, which is quite light so is probably pot metal, not ideal but less expensive and does the job. If you plan on using it regularly, i'd probably spend more and get a nice stainless steel solid hole punch that will last a lifetime, but if it's just for intermittent jobs, like what i need it for, it does what it's supposed to for now.

A great, simple, powerful tool --- especially if you have kids (or are going on a diet)
I love how easy it is to rotate the ratcheted punch wheel. The benefit: you can gradually move 'up' in radius size when you start to punch holes in the leather. Benefit: you never punch out a hole that's too big. And if you're like me and have little kids, it's hard to find a better tool - most kid belts don't come with enough holes to tighten it properly around their little waists. This tool lets you customize the tiny belt to fit.

Great tool everyone should own this.
I am always getting requests from my husband and children to put another hole in a belt and this little tool makes it so easy - just one punch - and there are several hole sizes (so you can't even tell the holes were added) and they are clean and neat not torn and frayed like they are when you try to "punch" a hole with a fat nail or some such shenanigans.

Nice Tool
This General heavy duty hole punch is just that. It works flawlessly so far. As another reviewer posted, you must squeeze them until you hear a click. That takes a good deal of pressure. It leaves a perfect hole. I think someone also suggested "cheap metal." That's not true either. I didn't think General would allow its name on inferior tools and they didn't.
