I initially agreed with a lot of the other reviews - I thought the handle comfort was crap, difficult to hold, unsteady in the hand, and I was ready to send it back. But I didn't see how a brand synonomous with high end cookware could knowingly have such a lousy handle, so I decided to see if it was just a learning curve and a matter of re-training my hand. That's exactly what it was, and it only took a few minutes. Just grab the handle (either hand) with forefinger pressed up to the nub underneath, thumb on top in the center of groove, and fingers wrapped around the handle. It's painful and awkward for a minute or so, then your hand gradually adjusts. For me it took all of 5 minutes. Once you've made the adjustment you have a surprising amount of control over the pan, and you can really hold it steady. But granted, it is a learning curve and I can see how it might not work for a lot of cooks out there. As far as cooking goes - I use this in conjunction with an induction cooktop; the temperature control and even heating are incredible! It's now my go to pan for almost everything. I was a little put back by the initial cost and the "awkward" handle, but, if you like to cookj and you can get past the handle ergonomics, it is one awesome saute pan!

I can't praise this 5-quart All-Clad saute pan enough; I am not a chef or even close to it--but I use this pan just about every time I cook a full meal, especially if it involves browning meat. I use it all the time when I cook something with liquid that needs to be reduced, and I also use it for doing things that it most certainly was not designed to do and it does them extremely well--like making gravies and sauces in enough volume to go around! I just use a silicon whisk as I do not wish to mar its surface and I frequently use Barkeeper's Friend on it. It is amazing how easily it is cleaned. I will never buy another non-stick pan, and I would never have believed that there was a stainless pan that was so easy to clean and to which food doesn't stick and burn badly. I did take the advice of other reviewers and learn how to properly saute and brown meat ( there really are techniques that make a difference!). I am really relieved that I feel this way about this thing, because I had sticker shock when I first saw how much it cost and I have never paid this much for a cooking utensil in my long life-but I am glad that I did!

All-Clad anodized aluminum non-stick cookware has been in our kitchen for decades, so we are familiar with the performance and quality of All-Clad products. While the non-stick products perform very well and can go 10 years or more, this pan takes things to a completely different level of cooking performance. It really does. Chicken even seems more tender when cooked in this pan. Go with stainless, copper core- you won't be disappointed in your investment. And, don't give the " no non-stick" a second thought. You won't believe what a breeze it is to clean.

The All Clad copper core pans are indeed expensive but in this case, you get what you pay for. I am very pleased with the quality and the evenness of the surface temperatures and would recommend this size for anyone wanting to cook for at least four people or two people with a substantial amount of leftovers.

I have gone through several brands of pans, Scanpan, Revere Ware, Calphalon, Analon, and these are by far the best pans in the world. I wish I had bought these first, I would never have bought another pan. If you use them according to directions they are great! Non-stick, brown the food wonderfully, don't take much oil/butter, and easy to clean. Make sure you use Barkeepers Friend for cleaning! Every time I use them I say "I love these pans"!

Great all around Saute pan, the 5Q size is perfect cooking for 3 to 5 people. Great heat distribution, the copper core definitely makes a difference. It's very fast reacting, you turn the heat from low to high and in matter of seconds the pan is right there with you! Makes you feel totally in control of the temperature levels. It's like driving a stick shift vs an automatic... Very high end product.

We shopped and shopped to choose a pan to give as a gift for our daughter who lives in a tiny apartment with very limited storage space and a stove that is very hard to control. The idea was that it would be better to have one good pan than several bad pans. Part of her thank you: "This pan makes it easy to cook well on our terrible stove". Now we want one!

If you like steel pans, this is the best one that I've used. Of course it's not non stick and you shouldn't do anything dumb like fry an egg on it and immediately douse it with cold water when you;'re done, because that could warp it, but if you like cooking on steel (my fav) then this one is the best. It's oven safe, huge af, and looks great. Some would complain about the comfort of the handles, but they forget that it's OVEN SAFE so it cannot have a rubber handle. I own a lot of All-Clad pans. This is for serious cooks.

If you are devoted to All Clad you will find a way to justify the expense.

This pan is a workhorse. By far the most useful piece of cookware I own. After three years of heavy use, I noticed some warping. After doing some research, this seems to be an issue with some glass top and induction ranges. The burners don't heat evenly, and I had used the pan on a small burner a few times, which exacerbates the problem: initially, the center of the pan gets much hotter than the edges. I contacted All-Clad customer service, and got a brand-new pan in two weeks, absolutely hassle-free. Highly recommend this company and this pan.
