Love this knife
Worth it over similarly priced knives, comes sharp and holds an edge fairly well. A great knife for chefs/home cooks who like lightweight cutting tools. Integrated forged handle with grooves that won't let your hands slip, slim profile and standard blade shape. My favorite 8 inch to date.

Great all around Chef's knife
I Love this knife. This is my second global. I owned a Global Santoku before and loved it. This chef's knife is well balanced, good size and nice hard steel that holds an edge. It also looks beautiful if you are in to that sort of think. One good chef's knife like this one is better than any of those high price sets. Buy it.

Perfect - Just don't leave water on the knife.
Global is as good as it gets when it comes to knives. Just make sure to wipe them perfectly dry before storing. These knives are very prone to water spots that cannot be removed. I consider this a small price to pay to have one of the best knives on the market. I've used this knife basically daily for the past year and a half and it's still very sharp. Don't wash this in the dish washer and store it completely dry. If you're going to have one great knife, this is the one.

Durable, well made, feel great in the hand
Wonderfully made and durable knife that I have used for 6 months and gave to 5 people as a holiday gift and they all rave that it is the best kife in their drawers. SHarpens very nicely and holds a sharp edge. Feels great in the hand and cuts like a champ.

Great sharp knife, well made, nice balance
Nice knife. Well balanced, not too heavy, stays sharp, nice grip. I have used this everyday since I got it about a month ago. I wash this separately and do not put it in the dishwasher. I also dry it off after washing. It's worth the price and the small effort to maintain it. It's my go-to knife for just about everything. I will most likely buy other Global products.

Fantastic
Fantastic. A quality knife that holds it's edge well. It really making cooking so much easier. The grip in comfortable for my hand, and won't swell or crack like wood. I'm saving up to buy a whole set.

That knife held up well and was easy to sharpen
I've been watching this knife for a few years. It started off over $120 - I got it for almost half thanks to CamelCamelCamel letting me know about the price drop. The knife will be supplementing a Chicago Cutlery Chef knife I have been using for about 17 years. That knife held up well and was easy to sharpen. Time will tell with this one. So far, I can make the following comments: -It is factory sharp! I used it to cut some vegetables and it did the job as you would expect. -It's lighter than my Chicago knife. Not sure how I feel about this. I like hefty tools. I'm not subtracting points - this knife is well made and doesn't feel cheap. -I like the grip. It works. -The sand in the handle keeps the knife balanced. It's subtle, but a nice touch. I bought a sharpener recommended by Global. Have not used it yet. So, yeah - a new knife! I like it and think the price I got it for is a steal!

Love this knife
This has been my go-to knife for many years. A friend was helping me cook, and used this knife and loved it, so I bought her one for Christmas. It stays sharp for an incredibly long time. I do use a good cutting board, never use my kitchen knives for opening boxes and such, and wash by hand. It feels well-balanced, and the clean design is, literally, clean -- there are no spaces between the handle and blade to collect whatever you're working on, which makes wash-up a breeze. I do have more expensive knives (German) that I also use, and I have friends who are knife aficionados that turn up their noses at this Japanese brand but, for me, the form and function are perfect. Not cheap, by any means, but value is getting something that's really good for a good price.

Easily the best knife I have ever owned!
You won't go wrong with this knife for the quality and value. I have been searching for many years for a great all around knife for the kitchen. This one works well. It hasn't let me down and I actually look forward to cutting up vegetables and cooking.

Five Stars
Before purchasing this knife, I had used Gougiri, a knife that a friend of mine who works at a Japanese restaurant had recommended. However, another friend who is also a chef recommended this Global knife to me so I decided to buy it as well. As I’ve used both knives, I’ve written down a comparison of the two: Global: [Pros] ・Design is great ・Since the blade and handle is completely made as one piece, it’s very easy to wash and therefore hygienic ・Affordable price [Cons] ・Average sharpness The design is very cool, so using it makes you feel great! However, it uses molybdenum-vanadium stainless steel for the blade, so the sharpness of the blade is pretty average. If you’re looking to find a knife that can slice through paper, Global knives might not be the one you’d want to buy. Gougiri: [Pros] ・Uses AUS8 for the blade so it’s amazingly sharp ・The handle’s a D-shape so it’s easier to grip [Cons] ・The box is kind of lame ・Pretty expensive It’s made in Seki city in Japan, famous for their knife making skills, so the blade cuts really well. I’ve been using it for the past half a year or so but the sharpness hasn’t really changed. The design is pretty average so if you’re looking to buy a fancy looking knife, Gougiri wouldn’t excite you. There are pros and cons to both knives so it all depends on what you’re expecting to get from the knife. Hope my review helps you in your knife purchase decision!
