Needed a kitchen knife and opted for this one based on the great reviews - and I don't regret. It's solid, sturdy, doesn't feel cheap, feels great in my hands, great weight balance, meaning, it's not super light or too heavy, and it's very reliably sharp. It's also super easy to clean once you twist it open to 90 degrees, and can clean each section individually. For anyone that states that this scissors come apart too easily, I can't imagine what you're doing to have this happen - never even got close to coming apart unless if I wanted to. Great product, great price, great purchase, highly recommend!

I liked the low price tag, the fact that it comes apart for easy cleaning, and they cut very nicely. I can't stand having fat or gristle on my meat so I mostly use these to cut it off of my meat before cooking. I haven't used a ton of scissors in the past but these are definitely the best pair I've had in my kitchen. 100% would buy again.

Easy to use and cuts through just about anything. I hardly ever roast a chicken with the bones in anymore. I de-bone the entire chicken keeping it intact. Then I stuff, roll, and tie for a boneless stuffed chicken that can be evenly sliced through for consistent portions of meat and stuffing. That makes a beautiful meat platter before carving too! Also, to butterfly (spatchcock) for BBQ: just cut along both sides of the back-bone to remove it and then remove the keel bone. The chicken (or any bird) can be laid out flat for easy, even cooking on the grill (or for the broiler)! I have had these for 5 years now and just never got around to reviewing them. They are still like new although they get used several times per month.

I like be these scissors! They are sharp enough and heavy enough to use for opening a blister pack. The pull apart function makes them easy to clean after opening a package of meat. They can be thrown in the dishwasher. I use these almost every time I am in the kitchen.

I bought two shears, three years ago, that were highest rated in their price range; the Messermeister 8-1/2 inch which I used for raw chicken, and the Wusthof 5558-1 for cooked chicken. Granted, the Messermeister got heavier use esp cutting bones, and raw bones are harder than cooked. Both started out incredibly good, cutting bones easily. The Messermeister eventually loosened up, so that the two parts come apart a bit too easily, e.g. when dropped on the floor, and rarely even during normal use when opening the shears fairly wide. That can be pretty bad, raw chicken and blades flying around. The Wusthof, albeit used only for cooked chicken, is still running strong. Beside that, I found the Wusthof much easier to put together after each cleaning. For some reason, with the Messermeiser, putting them together was like a puzzle where I would always have to give it a couple tries before I got them in the correct orientation, whereas the Wusthof, with a virtually identical locking system, I always seem to get on my first try! Go figure. In any case, I would suggest buying two different-looking shears, and use one for raw, one for cooked chicken, and make one the Wusthof 5558-1. The handle is comfortable; it cleans well in the dishwasher; comes apart easily but only when wanted; looks like a good fit for all hands, large or small, that is to say whether you have larger hands like me or small hands it should be a good size; no left- / right-handed issues as I can see it.

These are great kitchen shears. They come apart and go back together easily. They do not come apart easily during normal use. Taking them apart makes it very easy to properly clean them as needed and keep them in good working order. Great product.

No kitchen should be without a pair of these!! Or maybe even 4 pairs!! Ha ha.. Seriously though we use these for almost everything. Our favourite uses are: cutting raw pork ribs into more manageable sizes for our pots (love to slow cook them!); chopping up our little ones food before serving; and cutting herbs directly into our recipes. They are super sharp and strong! I love that they come apart for easy cleaning in the dishwasher. More importantly the rubber hasn't yet begun to disintegrate years later unlike another pair we once had... I can't stand the sticky feeling plastic gets when it gets old!

LOVE these scissors! Wish I had 3 more pair of them...and you very well may also once you use a pair. I like everything about them: – the fact they come apart so easily and can go right in the dishwasher if (like me) you happen to like kitchen-scissors – they cut very, very well and consistently – they are comfortable for a woman with not really very large hands to handle well – the price for the quality is very fair – thoughtfully designed and made The only thing I don't like is I don't yet have an extra pair for the garage and at least 1-2 other rooms in the house/office.

I picked these up when my OXO scissors bit the dust (the handle snapped while cutting herbs?!). So far these have been fantastic! The scissors are SHARP and cut through everything with great ease. They feel nice when slicing and I can easily use them with either hand. If you turn them perpendicular to each other they come apart, which has been incredibly nice for washing and cleaning them! I don't have to worry about junk between the blades or them corroding where I can't dry them. Some people voiced concern about them coming apart during use. I have not had this problem, and the only foreseeable way to do so, would be to open the scissors up 90 degrees. Unless you're trying to cut salami logs with this, I don't see that happening.

I am not sure how people who are using these shears to have an issue with them coming apart. Perhaps they are using them like hedge trimmers, which would indeed, open them all the way. After trimming off chicken fat, etc, you really want to be able to quickly take them apart and clean them, otherwise bacteria will accumulate around the pivot. This is my second pair...a dog chewed the handle up on the first pair, and using duct tape as a repair kinda defeated the benefits of the shear.
