Nice Educational Product
I agree with a post I read by Flitsy. These blocks are perfect for aiding in determining both cognitive and motor functioning in young children. Despite the "paint chipping" and "bad quality" reviews, I still got these blocks because kids eat far worse things than a little non-toxic chipped paint. Those who complained the blocks were too small should probably read the product description before purchasing. I supervise my daughter at all times. Though I'm not constantly hovering over her, I do check in on her every 10-20 minutes to make sure she's alright. She's 9 months; she will occasionally put them in her mouth (not entirely - like the corner) but will mostly toss them one by one. These blocks are not a choking hazard, in my opinion. ALL of the letters are INCLUDED in color; The plain (inked) letters vary; The pictures are different and do not correspond with the letters per block; numbers go up to 9; and there are 4 extra blocks. What I do with my daughter is teach her 3 letters a week with the corresponding picture block. She focuses while I place them in front of her, but of course, her attention span at this time is short and she will taste it then continue to through them. I love this educational quality time. I know she will eventually understand. I have provided pictures of all sides of the letters "I". The flip side of "I" is "V". I personally think these blocks are a perfect size.

I love the vivid colors and pictures
I was nervous that my 20 month old might put these in her mouth since she's still tempted by some things. However, even if she did they are large enough that I'm not worried about a choking hazard. The paint is a little faded on some corners but I expect that with handcrafted wood products. There is no sign of paint chipping. The blocks are not at all rough or sharp (unless you step on them barefoot, but that would hurt with any type of block). I love the vivid colors and pictures. Plenty of repeating letters to help spell out words. Great for stacking!

Durable product..thank you
These are a bit more expensive than you typical blocks but oh how well have they lasted. My son played with them, we passed them down to my daughter, and now my niece has them and they keep on ticking. In this world where things are made to be replaced, it's nice to find a company that makes things to last!!

Lil one got something to play with.
Another nice set- colorful, small blokes that snugly fit child's little hand. It's a little early now to teach letter and numbers, but simple question like How old are you he should of show block with # 2. or show the block with first letter of his name. So we will be busy. Melissa & Doug never fail to surprise, they present us attention worthy toys for our kids that would make them and us adults happy. Thank you. Mrs. Hoffmann

Smaller than what I imagined but still great!!!
So it's been like 20 years since I played with blocks so in my head I thought they were bigger! I bought these for my friends baby's first birthday and was suprised at how small they were! Don't worry they aren't like choking small or abnormal! I just hadn't seen blocks in awhile so it was a shock. They are really beautiful and nicely painted! AND they come with their own carrying bag! I can't wait to give them to little man for his birthday!!!

Solid, Quintessential Toy/ Doubles as Baby Shower Craft
I ordered these as a baby shower gift for a friend. My kids had these blocks when they were babies, and we loved them! I was happy to gift them to a friend who is having her first child. We also spray painted about half of them white and set up a station at the shower for guests to paint a block for the baby. It was a cute activity for the shower, and they turned out great! Will be perfect nursery decor. (She won't let the baby play with the decorated ones, as the paint we used wasn't non-toxic.

Universal use: Educational, game time, and usable for monthly photo shoot.
I purchased these because I didn't want to waist my money on the monthly birthday stickers or wooden blocks. I figured this way our son will enjoy playing with these when he gets older. And it will be educational which mommy likes :). They are good quality and I had fun rooting through the Alphabet blocks and numbers for his photo shoot :)

Perfect size for the little hands
We added these to the little Radio Flyer wagon that we purchased and they all fit perfectly. The size is perfect for a little child (1 yo) to handle in their hand. The pictures were cute, the colors were bright the letters are perfectly cut. There is no fraying to the edge of the wodden blocks so they are safe and won't have slivers. I'd like to see a bit more variety in the painted letters. There were many triples and quads of the same letter. I realize that there are outline letters, however it would have been nice to have a variety in the raised, painted letters.

You Can't Go Wrong With Blocks!
I bought these blocks for my 3 year old grandson for Christmas 2009. My daughter actually thought that these were "old fashioned," but guess what--over a month later and out of all of the toys he received, what does he play with EVERY SINGLE DAY? Yes, the blocks. When his cousins visit they, too, head for the blocks. These blocks are durable and lead free and because they have a different image/letter/number on each side, they can be used to teach many different concepts. Some of the concepts that can be taught with these blocks: colors, color grouping, letter recognition, number recognition, numbering, image identification (the blocks are stamped with images such as birds, animals, and common household items on some sides). AND let's not forget that stacking these blocks develop coordination and through trail and error a child learns what will and will not work. My grandson has learned that if he wants to build a tall tower he must make sure his foundation is sturdy and that the blocks are stacked evenly. He's used mega legos since he was a one year old and I initially thought that since the new blocks didn't snap together he might get frustrated. Not so! Great fun for the whole family! Highly recommended.

Simple yet lots of fun
I bought it for my 1.5yo (despite the age recommendation) and she likes it a lot. For now they are just generic blocks to her - she holds them, throws them around and stacks them up. As she gets older, I’ll be able to teach her about the colors, alphabet and the pictures. I see lots of different ways to play in the years to come.
