I got a PUR pitcher for Christmas, by Feb my pitcher indicated I needed a new filter. Water tasted perfect from my PUR pitcher and although I drink a lot of water, I'm guessing I could of stretched it out a while longer. Its mid-March and I'm on my second filter. Much better than buying bottled water

These are real PUR filter cartridges. The PUR name does not appear on them (some negative reviews say they are fake because the name is not on them), but I have never seen the PUR name on any of these cartridges, even the ones that came with the pitcher, and I have been using this pitcher for at least 10 years. The were shipped directly from PUR, even though purchased on Amazon. They work as well as the original ones that came with the pitcher and as well as the ones I have purchased in stores. If prep'ed per the instructions, they work like they should, but if they do filter slowly, follow the directions for correcting slow filtering. Some filters do have a little bit of liquid in the sealed bag. This is NORMAL! The filters must a little bit wet from the factory in order for them to work properly, but they in well sealed bags and are sterile from the factory to prevent any bacterial growth.

Ever since I had my kids I have a smeller and tastebuds like you wouldn't believe. I can stand in front of a trash can and smell the individual smells. I have smelled a fire an hour before hand even being called crazy when we went to find it and seen nothing. I can taste the metals in food from being stored in metal same as plastic. When it comes to my coffee, I will dump the whole pot if someone uses water from the spicket that wasn't put through this filter first. It's not even a matter of being picky, it completely changes the taste of my coffee to the point to where it's nasty to me. These filters work. I may not be able to tell you how well and what it cleans out of the water but I can completely verify it cleans something. Night and day with and without. They are a staple in our house and have been for well over 4 years now. BTW, the large containers with the spring loaded spout are what we have. They have been put in the dishwasher, used by 8 people daily including 6 kids and still work flawlessly. No cracks. The filters last longer for us than it states. I can tell by how slow they let the water out when it's time to change them. They work until they stop letting water through. In our case it's around 2 months per cartridge. We empty and refill our 18 cup dispenser at least 2 times a day sometimes 3 and 4. Hope that helps. The item was as advertised in the description, arrived in the correct time frame and was shipped well and all in tact upon delivery. When the price is right, Amazon is my number one go to for almost everything. The Prime membership is (a lifesaver sometimes even) well worth it and the fact you can keep things in the cart until the price drops makes it a huge shopping tool. Thank you.

I've been using Pur water filters for several years. I have two pitchers in which these filters are inserted. Pur has recently updated/improved the filters. You used to have to soak the filters in water for 15 minutes. No need to do that anymore. Just rinse it under the tap for 10-15 seconds then install. Tell ya what, water right out of the tap doesn't taste so good, but tap water run through the filters greatly improves the taste. I keep my refrigerator at 40 degrees, and the filtered water at that temp--it really tastes good!! I am confident the gunk that is in the tap water after running through miles of pipe is filtered out, and I am drinking safe, clean water. I highly recommend the Pur water filter system for clean, good tasting water.

These filters are faster but they don't seem to last as long. They get the job done. I will purchase again.

I finally took my doctor's advice and got rid of the diet soda and changed to water. I did a little research and found the reviews put Pur a nose or two above the competition. The difference between the taste AND SMELL of filtered water vs. tap is amazing. I went about a week drinking tap water and was ready to go back to soda. I went out and bought the 18 cup dispenser. I like the fact that it sits in my refrigerator and all I need do is hit the tap to pour water into my glass. For me it that is more convenient that a pitcher. I see someone wrote that Pur no longer sends the little calendar wheels with the filters. My last batch did have them. It's an inconvenience, but I would not take a star away if the next box I order came without them. In the end it is my senses of taste and smell that dictate when the filter needs to be changed. For what it's worth (you might want to keep this in mind when you're calculating what you may be spending over the course of a year for filters), I never come close to the 64 ounces of water my doctor says I am supposed to get every day. I live alone. I have found the filters are pretty much spent and not doing their job at the six-week mark. You might want to keep that in mind. I suspect it would not make it past a month for a family. To be honest, the little calendars are nice, but not overly necessary. My nose and taste buds do a pretty good job of alerting me that a filter change is needed. If you are like me and have been getting your hydration from sources that you know are not the best for you, give the Pur system a chance. It took me about a week to get over my soda 'Jones.' I am glad I did it. You will be too!

I am purchasing these for a second time today; I purchased my first order in August 2015. These work perfectly. I do not have any pictures because I'm on my last one now, I shall post some when I get my new order in! I see that some of the customers are saying that they are having problems after a couple of weeks with getting their water to filter. It tells you on the instructions of the 18 cup dispenser that the water needs to be cold. I keep mine refrigerated most times, but sometimes when I'm filling our other water tank, I fill the top with ice and it flows easily and smoothly. Warm or room temperature water causes the carbon inside of the filter to swell and which makes the water flow slow down. Cold water makes the carbon contract which makes the water flow faster. Just a tidbit of info for anyone that might be having problems with theirs. I hope that helps.

We LOVE this filtration system. Our tap water, while safe to drink, has a heavy chlorine taste as well as an almost kerosene scent to it. To drink it straight from the tap is really unpleasant, no matter how fast you gulp it down. We purchased the larger counter-top filtration pitcher because we use water for everything, coffee, cooking, travel mugs, even our soda maker. Hands down, Pur beats other models we've tried. The odor is removed, and the water is fairly tasteless. This is particularly critical for the use in our soda maker, as the water taste is amplified somehow when carbonated. One of the things we've notice, like others who have posted, is that the filter slows down over time. We have learned the best way to avoid this is to keep the upper chamber continuously full of water, so that as filtered water is removed for use, it automatically drains through the filter. In this way, the filter is constantly kept wet. It seems to us that the filter will dry out quickly if the pitcher is not constantly full, and suddenly, water doesn't want to pull through it any more. The filter lasts a reasonably long time if you use in the manner I've described. We only have to change out the filter every two months, despite the incredible amount of water the family consumes. A great investment if you can't afford a water treatment system, and are looking for alternatives to the cost (and eco-damage) of bottled water.

I purchased the PUR water pitcher, which had a filter enclosed, 8-25-13 --in keeping prepared I also purchased a replacement filter. The filter that came with the pitcher quit working after 2 weeks. A friend suggested I check the internet and read "reviews" I found numerous reviews, several said the same thing about the filters having a short life and many changes from their last purchase. I wrote a review in regards to the short life of the filter. I installed the replacement filter and in reading the box there was an 800 number and a web address, with a statement of guarantee, that a full refund will be made within 30 days, no questions asked. I called and spoke with a representative of the company. We had a very pleasant conversation and went on further with e-mail. The final out come, they replaced the seemingly defective filter. The one I bought as the 1st replacement lasted a longer (6 wks). I am very pleased with the taste of my water since using the filters, and am very grateful that the PUR company stood by their product. I didn't desire a refund, I desired a filter that worked - It arrived today. I AM Grateful.

I don't understand these reviews with one stars. I've been using this PUR and PUR filters for over 2 years. When filter is difficult to filter water, I just look at the date on the sticker I put on my PUR. I change the sticker religiously. Every time filter is slow....low and behold, the filter is well past its intended date of use. And I have this magical moment of, huh, water does taste weird, lol.
