Fun Project
This is a great project for kids who are learning about space and the planets. My oldest who’s 11 was able to do it all by himself, but my 7 yrs. old needed help. The planets and arms are all labeled, but the metal pegs are not so it was kinda tricky deciding which one went to what planet. The arms do rotate allowing you to change the position of the planets. We did not use the paint that came with the kit, but instead used our own acrylic paint. It was decent my kids just wanted different colors. Once the paint dried it was all very easy to assemble. Overall my kids really enjoyed the kit and I would buy it again.

Great, Simple, Fun, and Small
I'd give this 4.5 stars if that were an option (and why isn't it an option, by the way?). It was perfect for our needs as an elementary home school family. My first grader loved it and was able to learn from the 3D, hands-on experience. There's no better way to learn an abstract concept. I snapped the planets together and sanded them slightly with the sandpaper square to "rough them up" before painting, as suggested. My seven-year-old and I snapped them into position on the model and then painted them together. The paint adhered to the planets very well. The glow paint didn't work well when we mixed it with other paints, but it did work well on the planets that we applied it to as a top layer (just a little FYI). This model is very small, but that works well for us. Just for reference, the "sun" is about the size of a ping pong ball. Jupiter is about the size of a giant marble, maybe a bit larger. The planets and distances between are not to scale but served our purpose well. We were wanting to learn about orbits, positions of the planets, and sequence from the sun. The only thing I would have liked to change was the fact that the set doesn't include Pluto. Yes, I know it's no longer considered a planet as it is now considered a "dwarf planet". Still, I would've liked to have it in the set.

Great for the price
Exactly what I expected for the price. My six year old absolutely loved it. He needed help with the assembly but was able to paint it all on his own. One planet broke while putting it together. The center peg fell off and the planet did not stay together firmly. However once it was painted, the paint sealed it together and it’s now fine. Not even a big enough problem to warrant less than five stars, considering the fact that this set was so inexpensive. I’m extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive learning experience for their child.

It did everything I needed it to do!
This was ideal for explaining the solar eclipse to my 4 year old grandson. The price was very reasonable. The only thing I would change or add as an option would be the painting. I could have done without having to paint it. My 4 year old grandson is not "into" painting so I thought I had better do the job so the "earth" makes more sense to him. He took it home as a souvenir of the day of the eclipse.

LOVE everything about this product
I love this product so much. My husband is so into the universe and space, so I had to get my son a solar system mobile. I was originally planning on making him one with crafting items from Michaels, and then I ran across this one on Amazon and just had to get it because you are able to paint them on your own. That was my favorite part. I love crafts and I love art, so this item was perfect. I didn't mind the limited amount of colors and the fact that I had to mix colors to make certain colors. I really enjoyed putting this together for our son. And he really loves looking at it. He's always reaching up towards it wanting to touch it. Every time I go into the room with him, I tell him the names of the planets in their order and I point to them so he could know. The ONLY thing that I didn't like was that it shows Venus as blue when it is in fact known for being yellow due to the dust and gas. Luckily, I knew the colors of the planets, so I could correct that myself. I just hope that other people look them up online or something before they follow the guidelines given.

Great set, with some tweaks
a fantastic set, fun and easy to put together, and fun for kids. (My four-year old daughter loved doing it) A few suggestions: 1. Assemble and hang first, then paint (so your planets won't look like two halves stuck together). We hung ours in the shower to paint for easy cleanup and had a great time painting them as they turned. 2. Prior to assembly, paint the hanging rack to match the color of your ceiling. The model looks beautiful except for the rack, which is blue, and stands out--if only they made it white to begin with! 3. Apply glow in the dark paint direct from the tubes, in thick lines--if you spread it with a brush, the thin layer of glow paint will only glow faintly

Fun to put together and highly educational.
I purchased this for my 4-year-old granddaughter, but decided she was not quite ready for it. So I waited for her fifth birthday and then brought it out for her inspection. Yes, she had heard about the planets and wanted to put the kit together. So far we have worked on it for two sessions. We assembled it together, and then she painted the sun and the planets in their basic colors. Next, she will paint the details and apply the glow-in-the-dark paint. She has very much enjoyed construction and painting, and comments on the relative smallness of the earth compared to the other planets and the sun. She understands that, so far as we know, only the earth has animal and plant life. Next we will talk about how the planets revolve around the sun and how the earth rotates on its axis, creating day and night. The kit is perfect for illustrating the two movements. The components are sturdy enough. Sure, larger would be better, but this was more than good enough.

My 4 Year Olds Love It
I didn't look closely enough at this before buying it and didn't realize I would be painting as well as assembling the mobile for my sons. I simply wanted a finished mobile as my sons like everything 'space'. I am glad I made the mistake as the painting is pretty easy and it looks great in my sons' room. The paint dries very quickly (2 hours for a coat to dry in cold weather) so it can be completed in a short period of time. The mobile is easy to put together. I would have preferred the string to be something other than fishing wire which requires you to knot it more than once to save it coming undone when it stretches. It is a bit fiddly but they are generous with the wire which makes life easier. If you follow the instructions it is easy to balance the mobile. The poster that is included is a bonus. The fact that the mobile spins slowly in the slightest breeze (like closing the door) just makes it more authentic. The only bit that really didn't work well for me was the glow in the dark paint. I must have been doing something wrong as it was too thick to apply evenly. In the end I wiped it off and went without. Painting instructions would improve the product as it primarily tells you to follow the picture on the box. A smaller brush is really needed to paint the finest areas properly. The fact that it is hanging from the ceiling (no close viewing) means that you can get away with what is provided. Overall it is a very good product and makes learning about the solar system fun and interesting. It is a nice decoration for the room and we have fun pointing out the planets and learning what makes them different from each other. To be able to show why it is dark at night and moving on from 'the sun has gone to bed' as an explanation has been my highlight to date. Having seen the product I will purchase it again as a birthday present for a 9 / 10 year old.

You will love it. Make sure
You will love it. Make sure, this is the product which needs at least 30-60 minutes of time to set it up because it will come with all white colour balls with different sizes and you need to disassemble them and start fixing them and next you need to paint them. One thing that I love about this product was, this is the first project for my 3-years-old son which was prepared by me and my wife together.....!

Good do it yourself learning for a 7 yr old.
Small but great if you don't have space for a big permanent one. My daughter is 7 and really enjoyed painting and assembling this together. The plastic sphere halfs need to be snapped together which I found was hardest for her. If we had to do it again I would make sure I broke each one out of their holders one planet at a time. The reason is that some planets are the same size and the labeling is just one really small character printed on the inside of the shape. So, I just had to find, read and snap them together. She did all the painting and was able to read the gray arms that they sit on. They don't snap on so they can come off easily but so far we haven't lost a planet or the sun. My daughter has learned well with it and it was fun for her to do. Would recommend to others as a home learning device.
