***added stars due to their reply and this did ship extremely fast too... my issues was that I needed shipping tape, and this is more of a heavy duty storage tape...requiring a firm press with my hands to bond to the boxes.. once it was sealed and they sat in the truck for a few days (in summer time heat), it did bond and do its job. on to my original review, in which I presumed was shipping tape...my mistake, but their customer service is outstanding and for that, I came back to review my own review and found I was a bit too harsh... ::: original belöw this tape didn't stick well.. it is thick and strong, but I had to use a lot more of it than the cheap stuff we use at work. also the rolls don't last long (b/c the tape thickness) and imo I should've got the ultra thin tape that would've lasted a lot longer and been able to tape up more boxes. I feel this tape is good though, b/c it's so thick, but it just didn't stick as good as the cheap stuff... the only good side is when I accidentally taped my arm to a box... I was able to just peel it off without it hurting at all, the cheap stuff would've hurt. it's a cross between painters (masking) tape and clear shipping tape, but it's much much thicker. if you need to pack a lot of boxes, get the thinest tape you can find...or buy 3-5 times more than you think you may need (or else (like me), you'll be running out to a store to get more ).

This is an essential if you are - like I am at present - packing up to move. I prefer the Scotch brand over Fuji and other brands for several reasons. One is that it is it is sufficiently thick that it does not fold back over itself in a way to make it impossible to unfold it if it sticks to itself. Another reason I like it is that it is very strong and even if placed over a slightly dusty sheet of cardboard it sticks strongly to the surface. There is an additional reason I love this when you consider the 4 roll version, and only the 4 roll version. For some reason any other number of rolls is much more expensive. At times a 2 or 3 roll package can actually be more expensive, which is simply weird. On the other hand, a 6-roll package is so much more expensive as to be prohibitive. The 4-roll version is really the only one to consider, the only one to provide you with a reasonable per roll price. I bought a couple of 4-roll packages at the beginning of my packing up process and am about to buy another one.

If I read the reviews on this tape before ordering it, I would have never bought it. I wonder if the right tape is being sent to everyone. Mine is long lasting moving and storage, and I don't believe it said anything on the front label about meeting postal requirements, as it does on the photo here. That concerned me, but I had no concern after using it on a few boxes I was mailing this week. The tape sticks very well, and you can't pull it up and re-stick it. There's also a temperature range on this particular Scotch tape shown on this page, and it's a great range for mailing. Also, I got 4 rolls for a much cheaper price than what was being charged for mailing tape. (Amazon was the seller.) But prices seem to change all the time on these different tapes. These rolls do fit the big red plastic Scotch tape holders, too. Update 6/10/17: I needed to reorder this tape, but all the bad reviews made me hesitant. Was there a quality control issue? I went ahead and ordered some more, since none of the other tapes seemed as good and as well priced. Moreover, they had bad reviews, too. Well, what I got this week is as good as what I got the first time I ordered it. I'm using it for mailing and it sticks well to boxes and labels. No problems at all. I bought this packing tape in the four pack. This tape is a lot thicker and more durable than the last packing tape I bought. The last tape I bought was thin and ripped easily. This packing tape is thicker and sticks better. It does not rip easily, but it does cut easily when I use it on my tape gun. It fits perfectly in my tape gun and rolls smoothly. This tape is wide enough that you can easily tape a box shut with one strip of tape. I usually use more than one strip just in case, but one is wide enough. I ship a lot of boxes and I have tried a few different brands of packing tape and this one is by far my favorite. I will never try to save money by buying different brands again. The last brand I bought I had to use 3 times as much tape on boxes in order to feel like the box was taped shut well enough that it would not come open if the box was mishandled or squished, which I know happens regularly with packages. The four pack is a great price and is well worth the money. I bought this full price for my own use at home.

April 2016: The boxes in the garage are still sealed with the tape, and I just bought my 2nd package of it. Love it. Update 6/23/14: After several months in the garage and a good month or more of 110 degree heat outdoors I am happy to say that all the boxes remain completely sealed - no curling ends or peeling, etc. Most definitely my go-to brand for cardboard boxes. I even dropped a heavy box on concrete and it didn't burst open or disturb the tape at all. It is so important that the tape works well, for the garage, because it has to keep bugs out of the boxes, not just hold them shut. Original post: Seems like it was made specifically for bonding to cardboard - it is definitely holding my storage boxes together better. It doesn't pull up, and makes a great seal. It is also thicker so the seal is tough - no slitting a box open with my fingernail! Added plus is when it stuck to itself, I could easily pull it back apart and it still stuck as it should to the box. Well worth it so far. The next test - boxes into the garage over the summertime 115 degree temperatures - I shall see if it gets gummy or peels off.

Shipped quickly, good packaging, good price, good brand! I have an ebay store, and I ship out anywhere from 1-10 packages a day, ranging from 1-25 pounds. I have gotten 3 complaints over the last 11 months about damaged boxes, but not since buying this tape. This tape is strong - very strong, as I need scissors to cut it (or my teeth, but selling online, I use scissors). When I bought it, I tested it first. I wrapped a big box in it, only one strip per spot that needed it to close the box. I put one box in the bathroom, where 3 hot showers are taken daily. Another, I put in my freezer. The tape has lasted three weeks, on both packages(inside the freezer, and bathroom). SO, this tape can withstand 100%+ humidity(shower room conditions, the carboard is in worse shape than the tape), and freezing conditions. So no matter where your package is going - Florida, Brazil, or Alaska; this tape will hold.

these are excellent products principally because they get the job done and your satisfaction in knowing that your package is not going to fall apart the first time it is "tossed"in the truck. The tape is first class quality. It is strong and easily taped to the carton. It's clear so that you can see what you're doing;once completely taped it will withstand very careless handling. The company does not cut any corners in manufacturing this product. In all the years that we have moved around, mailed packages and stored cartons that we couldn't give away because we are "hoarders", there has never been one problem when this brand (3M) is used. NEVER. Whenever I see a decent price, I tend to buy in quantity. Recently Amazon was offering a good price and I bought about 10, and the roles are huge. Also they were received ahead of schedule and meticulously packaged; which is what I've come to expect from Amazon. Obviously a strong recommendation. Thanks, Steve G.

We recently moved and went through a lot of packing material rather quickly. I am so glad I bought these since I really didn't have to worry about running out of tape. Pros - Good quality, worked well to box up packages of all different sizes, small, medium, large - With a 2 room apartment, we had over 50+ boxes that were built and packaged and not 1 of them had issues. We almost literally needed about 2.5 of these for the entire move and we were quite liberal. - I like the fact that these are transparent, helps if you need to write things over it (also makes sure no one else has opened the package since you'll see your writing across the tape) Cons - Not necessarily a problem with this product but it was a little bit of a struggle get it on the tape gun, could just be the design and sizing between the two not matching up. Nonetheless, we didn't really have to work too hard to get it on it. Once it is on the tape gun, you are set.

Pay up a little for the 3M brand but use half the amount of tape because they don't rip! I have purchased lesser priced / no name brands that advertises as the same length and thickness but when they simply don't stick to the corrugated box or rips when you lift the box, the headache of repacking or risking broken products is much worse than buying a quality brand packing tape. I use 3M Scotch packaging tape for business shipping (15+ boxes / day) as well as any moves or gathering donation boxes. They are dependable as the glue sticks well to any texture cardbox boxes and they hold the proper weight. Simply the BEST packing tape available.

3M Scotch tape, for when you can't have your box fall apart, this is what you use. I've tried some cheapo stuff before, but it tends to fall apart and lose adhesion. If you treasure your valuables, use the Scotch stuff instead.
