My son loves this kit!
Perfect for my 18 month old, who loves to work with his daddy's tools. The drill makes a lifelike sound, and my son has tried to repair every hinge and screw in the house since he opened it! It is also nice that there are actual screws and fake nail heads for him to use his tools on, but also that they do not actually come out completely . Many of the tool boxes I was looking at only provided the tools, not an area to actually use them . So glad I found this one versus some of the others.

Fun learning toy!
We’ve had this toy for 2 months. 18 month old liked it right away, and it still holds his interest at 20 months. Love that are so many activities in one set. As a previous reviewer stated, the gears are a little stiff. But all in all a very good, safe, first tool set. Later on, when he is older I’m sure he will graduate to a more advanced set with a turning drill. But I wouldn’t want that pinching risk at this age.

Much played with quality toy
I bought these 2 Christmas's ago for my grandchildren - one boy (11 months at the time of purchase), one girl (16 months at time of purchase). Two different families. Both of them love it. Every time I visit a different tool is "the favorite" one that gets carried around. They especially love the shape sorter. I think they like retrieving the shapes more than pushing them through the slots. The case is sturdy as are the individual pieces. I definitely recommend this toy.

Fun for baby - Excellent for hand eye coordination training.
This was purchased for an 18 month old and works great. Fortunately it has a variety of things to do so it kept him entertained for about half an hour at a time - which is impressive. He does like tools though. It’s also nice that it comes with the case to keep everything together and tidy. It is good for developing certain skills. You have different tools that fit with different parts and they are figuring that out with this.

Great Gender Neutral Kids' Tool Set
We purchased this for our daughter over 2 years ago and this little tool set is holding up super well. She's nearly 5 now and still utilizes this tool set to "fix" different things and to help us "fix" things. At this point due to age, she generally just uses this for the tools aspect and not so much the components on the inside (shapes, gears, etc.) though she interacted with those quite a bit when she was younger. The drill is cute in that is makes a "drilling" sound though the drill bit doesn't rotate. We have an infant currently and hoping this can be utilized with the second kid as well. Based upon current durability, I'm guessing it will by the time the baby is old enough to play with this. Great gender neutral toy. Would certainly purchase again.

Alot of entertainment in 1 great toy
To start - this toy seems to have been greatly improved since earlier comments. There are no longer any choking hazards and all items fit easily back into the case. Our 20 mth old toddler loves "helping" out with DIY. This toy is pretty perfect. It's well made with a quality feel and the size is right - alot of the time with these toys everything seems smaller than the photo. Inside the case you have a screwdriver, spanner, hammer and drill, 5 screws inside the case which CANNOT be removed and 2 nails which can be alternately hammered in. There is a shape sorter with 4 shapes, a voice says the name of the shape when the child pushes it in. Finally there are some static cogs which make music when turned. Alot of entertainment in one toy. Both the case and the drill take batteries. There are no small parts or choking hazards. Everything fits easily back into the case. My only areas for improvement to this toy would be that the case comes with batteries fitted while the drill doesn't. Also the drill, which takes 2 AA batteries only makes a noise when the button is pushed. I would have expected the drill bit to turn. Our toddler did too!

Awesome Buy
My daughter has loved it for the 2+ years we have had it. It's the first thing my now 2 yr old nephew goes for when he visits. We lost the shapes pretty quickly (totally expected) but before that daughter loved banging on that. It is a loud toy, with the hammer banging and the music, so prepare for that. Also, unless you have the tools in there the right way, you can't close it. I still have to help her close it. The easiest way I've discovered is to put the tools in there, close it as best as you can, and shake a little until they reposition themselves enough to close.

Love it, my son and nephew each have one.
My son received this as a gift from my brother for Christmas, now my nephew is turning 2 and I'm getting it for him because my son still loves it almost a year later. I love that it all fits in the case. Ours did not come with the white insert that many people seem to be upset about not having, but we don't have a problem fitting it all enough to close the case. And if it came with the insert would your toddler really put the pieces in the right slots to close the case? We have no complaints at all. Yes, it's loud, but his dad's real tools are super loud and I think that's part of the reason he's still interested in it. Not many toys hold his interest for this long, have many peices, teach them motor skills, and all fits into an organized case.

Surprisingly great little toy
I bought this as a cheap quick Christmas gift for my one year old because I also bought my husband a grown-up top of the line new tool set and thought it would be cute for him to “work” with his father. It was a last minute addition, it was the cheapest kid tool set I could find. I didn’t expect it to be awesome, but it is my sons favorite toy even six months later (you may or may not know that toddlers are fickle little creatures)! It plays little work songs, which I love because you have to have music when your hard at work, of course. Comes with a hammer, screwdriver, and a wrench, and a few little screws and bolts to hammer and screw. Also has four shapes and little openings to fit them in, and when you get them right they say the name of the shape(“circle!”) . It is pretty simple, fun and educational. Also sturdy and practical, as my son has very recently started carrying it around with him and standing on it to reach things.
