This thermometer is very quick to read the temp, my previous thermometer would take forever to decide what the final read out was going to be. The digital readout is clear and easy to see. The size of the thermometer makes it easy to handle even wearing an oven mitt over the grill (as long as you already have it turned on, as the on/off button is a bit tiny). I love the fact that this model is easy to wash, no reason to fear getting the digital portion wet, it is entirely sealed. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Good instructions, nice product, works great, worth the $12-$13 I paid - I can use it for every need. The recalibration instructions are included but it should not need to be done. Battery is easily replaced if and when needed. Be sure to thoroughly read the instructions, because they are helpful as to maintaining the anti-bacterial feature of the sleeve. I did have to push pretty hard the first time to get the thermometer in the sleeve, after that it went in easily enough. It takes just a few seconds for temp to read after insertion. It seems very sturdy and I think I will have it for a very long time.

I already own several thermometers and bought this one just to use with the grill outside. I was surprised at how quickly it became my main thermomoeter both inside and outside. Pros: -Nice compact size, about the size of a ballpoint pen plus the head. Easy to carry. -Cleanup is a snap. -Accurate. I tested it against a much more expensive infrared thermometer on hot liquids, this little Taylor was within 0.3 degrees on every measurement. -It registers within 5-6 seconds, about 2-3 times faster than my other comperable thermometers. This makes a big difference when you are holding a steak over the grill! Cons: -The buttons are a little small. -It isn't very sturdy, I wouldn't put it in the oven or even leave it in the sun when grilling. It's size makes up for this, I just stick it in a pocket (after putting on the protective sleve of course) and keep it with me. Overall a nice purchase considering the price I paid, I ordered a second one to use inside.

This little thermometer is extremely accurate! We have tested it against much more expensive thermometers and it hold its accuracy. I have owned several of these and they have all been very good and accurate. However, it has only one draw back. When you forget and leave it in the oven or the smoker longer than say 15 minutes, it will "melt" the housing and warp it. Once warped it will not function as it is supposed to. I have tried multiple others and this still is the best product even if I am not reliable to remove it! We also raise poultry and gave several as gifts this year for Thanksgiving. Had several customers remark they too thought this was one of the most accurate little thermometers they had used and also gave it 5 stars. If you are looking for a very accurate thermometer to ensure you have no overcooked or under done meats- this thermometer is what you are looking for.

This item works. Yes, it's made mostly of plastic, (although the probe is sharp metal) is probably not really waterproof, (especially if you stick it in the dishwasher) but at this price, you can have a handy, accurate thermometer that quickly tells you the internal temperature of what you're cooking. If you make your living taking thermometer readings all day long, you may want to spring for the $90+ model made in England. Otherwise, this handy little device is easy to use, easy to clean, and stores in a clever little tube so you can clip it in your pocket protector. (or maybe keep it in the drawer in the kitchen with some of your other cooking tools) You might also want to get a few extras to give to your kids who are starting their own families, especially if they happen to understand how important it is to cook things to the correct internal temperature. Just sayin'...

Bought this two years ago and it performed flawlessly until I broke it doing something foolish. However, I never used it for cooking so I cannot attest to accuracy at high temps. When measuring snow temps for ski waxing, it was fast and accurate. For cooking, I prefer the models with the long flexible probes that can be left in the sauce pan or roast. They are easier to read and you do not have to worry about the instrument getting wet, dirty or melted. The actual instrument can be two feet away from the heat. They do take a bit of time to set up, but the wireless remote is very useful on a long roast.

I bought this for my film developing setup - so it needs to be accurate to +- 1 degree. After developing about 20 rolls of films it seems to work OK. I 3D printed a bracket for the probe so it hangs onto the edge of a large measuring cup for rinsing reels of film. Works great to position the thermometer along the edge of the cup.

This is the best all-around thermometer I've used. This thermometer accurately reads low temps (freezer) and high temps (candy/fry). Finally, I no longer have a kitchen drawer full of different thermometers {Wilton Candy Thermometer,Taylor Classic Roast/Yeast Thermometer,CDN FG80 Refrigerator/Freezer NSF Professional Thermometer.....} This thermometer has a button to calibrate it; a button to switch between fahrenheit and celsius; and an on/off button. Three buttons, it couldn't be more user friendly. The thermometer snuggly fits into the holder, which I like. The end is perfectly tapered; it slides right in and glides back out of whatever you are prodding. What truly makes this the best thermometer, to me, is its immediate temperature gage. It will go from 70 degrees (kitchen air) to 195 degrees (center of bread) in a matter of seconds - no more waiting forever to get a temperature read with the oven door open. This is my go-to thermometer. It's well worth the extra couple of dollars. I've purchased two, one for me and one as a gift; both are perfect.

I've owned two of these thermometers in the last 10 years, and my latest one is still going strong. I've come to depend on it and use it every day for cooking, making cheese, checking meat temperatures, even my kids' science experiments! I am ordering a third one now to have in case the one I have now breaks, as I just know I'd be lost without it - it's a good thing! Even though it says that it is waterproof, we always clean it by hand, wiping off the probe and trying to keep the top part away from water. Once in a while, it will take a dip in whatever liquid we are measuring, we quickly fish it out, and it has continued to work without problems. I've noticed some of the reviews complain that theirs didn't survive the dishwasher. We never put ours in the dishwasher.

This thermometer has been great so far, I use it mainly for taking shallow soil temperature readings as well as a camping grilling thermometer. It Pretty much just stays in my car and get used when I needed for various things. I've used it in heavy rain once and was not concerned. So it does seem to be sufficiently water resistant. The calibration was definitely a bit off when I received it. I used the ice method described in the manual to calibrate, and it worked okay. I also used boiling water to check the opposite end of the spectrum and that worked good as well. Overall I think this thermometer is a wide range of uses and I was drawn to it because of upward facing display and it's water resistance. Great thermometer!
