No other 4 cup coffee maker beats the Cuisinart DCC-450BK. I've tried all the other brand 4 cup makers and thrown all of them out. This coffer maker makes fresh hot delicious coffee every time. Easy to keep clean, small foot print on counter.. and a stainless steel carafe ...the best for a single person, at the office, college dorm... or any family member who doesn't want to be bothered with a larger maker. The price is excellent and the unit lasts and lasts for years. Both the carafe and its lid plus the filter unit go in my top rack of dishwasher every day and there is a no fail spring in the coffee filter funnel. No leakage or dripping when pouring into cup. It's perfect!

I bought this Cuisinart coffee maker for my office. I wanted to avoid the costly coffee pods that a Keurig would use. This Cuisinart maker does an effective job of making coffee. It's brew temperature is more than hot enough. The burner turns off automatically after 30 minutes which is a nice safety feature. The carafe is metal so it won't break if dropped. If you make a full pot/carafe, which claims to be 4 cups, it actually is more like 2 regular sized cups/mugs of coffee. For me alone in my office, that is fine. It is somewhat noisy for a bit during brewing, but only for a minute or so as the water brews through. So don't expect it to be a silent coffee maker. Again, I am in my office alone so not an issue for me. Don't put this machine under an overhanging cabinet as steam comes out of the during brewing. This would be a safe coffee pot for a small apartment or college dorm room. And because you are using #2 cone filters and your own ground coffee, you avoid the exorbitant cost of Keurig coffee pods. You can more easily compost your used coffee grounds with the Cuisinart 4 cup coffee pot.

I just want a a few cups of coffee in the morning, or an extra when guests are here. PROS This is simple, and I don't like fussing with grounds to clean so like the paper filter I can pitch out. My wife appreciates it takes up very little counter space and blends with the other appliances. Reliable. The cutoff feature is great. I travel with it, it's so light & compact... I can't figure out how to use the kids' fancy espresso machines at their homes. Left one behind so just ordered a replacement. CONS: I'm lazy and don't clean the warming plate. Eventually the coating wore off on last model.

I LOVE THIS! I bought it 10 years ago and now have 2 separate places I live in so I needed a coffee maker in my new place. The updated version is nearly identical and maybe even better and I wouldn't buy one of those fancy expensive ones over this one! If you know Starbucks, it's perfect for a grande or venti. The pause feature is not obvious, but you just take the carafe off the warming plate and it stops for about 15 seconds. The pressure of the coffee pot on the brewing mechanism is what causes the drip in to the pot, so if you don't place it properly, it won't drip in the pot and will cause it to leak from the bottom. I know this b/c i've had it for 10+ years and I still love it! The stainless steel pot keeps it warm and looks awesome! Buy this!!

I have a black one that is around 7 years old and a red one that is 3 years old. Neither have failed me. I just bought the red one for fun. Brightens the morning. For those who complain about the 30 minute shut off my solution is to hit the start button again when I get my second cup so that my last cup is hot. If the light is on I just turn the machine off and on again. Been doing this for years. Makes excellent coffee. I use a quality coffee -- drip grind or grind it myself to that consistency. Peets is what I buy. I also purchased the gold filter for convenience-- I forget to buy paper filters-- and deal with the clean up which isn't that onerous. My experience is that this is a very reliable coffee maker. It is nice to have two in case of company. I usually have two different blends on hand so I can serve two different coffees. I think some of the complaints are a little picky. There is no universally perfect coffee maker out there.

This is a terrific small coffeemaker, just right for one person. It is compact and attractive. The set-up of preparing the coffeemaker is very minimally different than I had seen before, but easy to adapt to. It brews very tasty coffee in a relatively quick time, and I believe it uses a bit less coffee than my old basket type coffeemaker. It also makes both dark and medium grind coffee well. (I haven't tried light grind yet.) I do not find there is any metallic taste from the stainless steel pot, and it is my first such pot, so I was a bit dubious about that. The coffee is hot. I pour it into a thermos, turn off the coffee maker and rinse it, then enjoy my coffee without any further distraction or fuss. So easy. An overall very pleasant change in my morning coffee routine. Glad that I purchased it.

I love the style of this sleek little coffee pot. It is perfect for me, makes 4 cups. .It shuts off automatically after 1/2 hour Five stars for a well designed, sleek coffee maker that doesn't take up too much room on the counter and looks nice in my kitchen. I liked the taste of the coffee. It's hot, but that's ok by me. I wanted a smaller coffee maker, and I'm tired of the individual cups (plastic, wasteful and expensive). This fit the bill perfectly and the price is amazing. The black and chrome looks nice and fits in with my kitchen. The shape of the pot is nice. I have an extra sensitive sense of smell and taste. There is a plastic taste to the coffee...hope that dissipates in time. For me, this has been true for any coffee maker with plastic parts. Maybe time will help. Most people can't taste it and they love the coffee. It is the perfect size and the perfect style. I've only had it for a week. LOVE it

I previously owned a 12-cup coffeemaker, which actually was too large as I am the only coffee drinker in the house. Not only being too large for my use, it took up extra space on my counter because it was too tall to fit under the cabinets. As such, I was thinking of buying a smaller coffeemaker, but the one I had still worked very well so it didn't make sense to buy a new one. Then the carafe broke which opened up the possibility for me to purchase a smaller one. I read the previous reviews on this product, and I would disagree whole-heartedly with any of the negative reviews. For example, that the basket opens during brewing is in error because you need to snap the lid down before brewing. If you snap it in place, it will not open. Then I read that the carafe gets too hot, but why would you touch a hot carafe in the first place? It is made of stainless (thus unbreakable like glass carafes!) so would be very hot to the touch...DUH!! If you are looking for a smaller coffeemaker that works well and takes up less counter-top space than larger coffeemakers, this is the right coffeemaker for you. It's well constructed; definitely not made from cheap materials. It also feels very solid, much more so than my previous machine. I would highly recommend this to anyone. The only con I have is the carafe lid is a bit hard to take off the carafe; but that's such a minuscule negative that it really doesn't counter how great this coffeemaker really is.

I have lost count of how many of these coffeemakers I have owned - four or five, I think. Why so many? Because they work GREAT, but only for about 3 years of daily home use. This last one lasted about 38 months, and then the hot plate rusted through. An earlier one had the switch go bad. Etc. Still, I am considering purchasing yet another one because IT MAKES SUCH DELICIOUS COFFEE. Really. And, the price point for this lifespan is totally reasonable for an appliance that gets daily use - sometimes multiple times a day. Also, I really like the easy-to-read water gauge level INSIDE the reservoir.

it's the perfect size for me. i only drink one big cup of coffee in the morning and i'm done. i love the stainless steel carafe... no more breaking it and then waiting for a replacement, lol. the lid is easy to get on correctly, all you do is put the side that goes on the spout in first. it has a small tab that you line up and connect first, then press down the other side by the handle. the cone filter holder only goes in one way, too. just line up the slot opening where it allows the water to go the grounds. you have to tap the top down firmly, otherwise the water will sit in the cone part and not drip down to the pot. i didn't need or want any bells and whistles so i like that it's relatively plain in that respect. after i wash the pieces, i set it up so that all i have to do in the morning is to push the button. so far, so good. i just hope it lasts!!
