Well, not everything I did was a mistake but there were more than I’d like to admit. I do a lot of my own building and am making a lot of repairs to my current house and a log cabin I have. When I did a lot of roofing & siding work I assumed water would flow down and away so that’s how I built everything. Along comes winter and the dreaded ice dams and now water flows uphill and under everything to then leak into the living spaces. I pulled some vinyl siding off to put on an addition and after only a few years enough water had gotten behind the siding… and even the house wrap… that it rotted away some large sections of OSB. I found the source of leaks to be where water ran down the sides of some window J-channels and where a sloped roof met an outside wall. I pulled off everything, made the repairs and then put all the trim back with healthy does of this sealant and the leaks are now gone and ice can’t push up under it. I also use the clear around my wood stove pipes & roof flashing and it seals them tight so no water running down the pipe onto the stove when strong winds are pushing heavy rains. I’m putting flashing over all the exposed wood fascia and this stuff ensures no water gets under it. if you vinyl siding you are likely getting water damage near the windows so don’t assume that because you don’t see it it’s not happening. I’ve no gone through about a dozen tubes of this stuff over the past few years and never had a problem with it and have stuck a large nail in open tubes and since it’s flexible the nail comes out easily and the product is still usable. It’s also a good adhesive so I can attach flashing with a minimum of exposed nail and/or screw heads. For exterior work it’s the best product I’ve found at a reasonable price. I’ve even had success with it on sealing gutter leaks in the connectors.

Many uses for this product, as it is durable, flexible, and water resistant. Use it to reinforce screws in permanent settings, seal cracks in drywall, seal toilets, seal windows, the possibilities are limitless. Seems to be sun resistant as well. Elastomeric means that when it dries, it will still be somewhat flexible, so it will stick to the sides of cracks and such and move as they do, maintaining the seal. Better than separation which would require resealing.

I needed something to cover up a gap on my window frame. Given the urgency of the issue, I wanted something that could reach me sooner than later. I was glad to have found this, and with prime shipping included, no less! In terms of getting the job done, this product more than delivered on that front. It has been a few weeks since I used it, and I have to say that there have been no leaks or anything untoward. We had had some serious downpours in the recent past, and the seal was strong, with no visible signs of weakness. I am very happy with the purchase, and would recommend this to people that are looking for quality caulk.

This worked extremely well where I need to fill large gaps over a backer rod. This will work for gaps up to 1" wide without shrinking or cracking. Fully met my expectations and water cleanup too.

I use this for sealing and also as an adhesive. The clear version comes out white but turns clear in 2 weeks. Keep the insects out by caulking small cracks.

I had a door installer come to measure for a new double door system. I showed him the opening between my stone and wood frame on my garage door. He said get Dap 230. The viscosity flow was perfect when filling in the 1/4" -1/2" opening and I was even able to create a web with it for a few larger opening. Next morning it was dry.

Definitely recommend for caulking exterior windows! I recently moved into a home that would get bugs and ants coming from outdoors and I couldn’t understand for the life of me how they would get in because my windows were shut. I eventually hired a pest control company that would keep them away but they will slowly find their way back into my home after 3 months. Finally, I walked around the house and noticed that the previous Owners did not caulk the windows at the bottom so pests was free to get in. After purchasing and apply this product to my windows I haven’t seen any bugs! I highly recommend this product!

I used this caulk for sealing interfaces on exterior wood paneling, around trim and around penetrations. It handles well without being too gooey. Skins relatively quickly but not too quickly in 80-85 degree weather. Holds paint. Is fluid enough to penetrate cracks without bridging too soon, thereby giving good long term holding power.

Better than painters caulk, more flexible, stretchy with good adhesion. Costs a bit more but my time is worth it

This really was easy to work with. Not sure on how long it will last or if it expands and moves with a old home but so far I love this stuff. I will update if things don’t go well. It went further than I thought it would. I ordered three tubes and only needed one. Some of the cheap stuff continues to seep out even after you release the pressure. This stuff did not do that.
