This pot is perfect for stocks, soups, pasta, boiling shellfish... The shallow steamer basket is great for vegetables, dumplings, steamed shellfish... The lid fits tight to hold in the heat and steam. I've enjoyed cooking with Cuisinart pots and pans for years and, as always, very reasonably priced for the quality.

Works great. Pros: Good weight, fill line marked inside for pasta max, seals tight, lid fits nicely, pasta insert works wonderful, steamer is very nice with folding handles, can be stored together (I use the plastic it came in so doesn't scratch each other), handles are heavy & easy to grab, insert was a perfect size to miss my vent fan when lifting out on front burners), cleaned up easily. Works on electric stove burns just fine. Cons: Bottom main pot can be heavy when filled with all the water for pasta insert. (might be hard for some people to dump out) *Let cool before trying* I first used it to make homemade pasta in-it turned out perfect.

It is finally fall and couldn't wait to make a big pot of chicken stock and then Chicken Noodle soup (to freeze for use as needed). It was so much easier this year with the pasta insert to remove all the stock elements, take the chicken for inclusion in the soup and throw out all the stock vegetables, herbs, etc. Then I cut up the chicken, threw a bunch of noodles and fresh vegetables into the stock and finally added most of the chicken from the stock. And these pots washed like a dream (manually....I don't put stainless into the dish washer as a rule, even when I can.) Cleanup was achieved in 10 minutes and I curled up with a big bowl of soup as my reward! Thanks Cuisinart AND Amazon.

I bought this stockpot because the one that came with the set I had (an 8-quart) was just too small for the amounts of stock I was making. Keep in mind though that this one is very tall--when I wash it in the sink, I have to swivel the faucet out of the way to stand the stockpot upright. The steamer that came with it was also a godsend, since I did not have a proper steamer prior to buying this. The price was right too. Most similar stockpots I looked at from other manufacturers either didn't have the steamer/pasta inserts or cost significantly more. My only complaint about this set is that it's hard to keep it as perfectly shiny as it was out of the box, but that's true of all stainless steel, and of course it doesn't affect performance at all. Update (April 2013): this pot has held up well to regular use. I have no complaints.

I was a little nervous to buy this as I have a very low microwave over my stove and my previous stock pot was only an 8 quart. I wanted to leave a review because I hadn't seen one that had the exact information I was looking for before hand. The very bottom of my microwave sits exactly 13 1/2 inches above my flat top stove. This stock pot completely assembled with pasta insert, steamer and lid clears my microwave by a quarter of an inch. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The look, quality and value of this stock pot is exceptional!

Due to numerous health and food issues in my family, I cook all the time and I cook from scratch. A good set of pots and pans is absolutely imperative to cook well. I prefer stainless steel because it looks nice, imparts no off flavors and does not leach toxic chemicals. Stainless steel also washes easier than most other finishes. I own a nice set of 18/8 stainless steel pots and pans which includes 2 - 8 quart (2 gallon) stock pots plus 3 different 5 gallon stock pots. But until I purchased the Cuisinart 77-412 Chef’s Classic Stainless 4 Piece 12-Quart Pasta/Steamer Set, I had nothing in between the2 gallon and 5 gallon stock pots. Whenever I made food like chili or chicken and dumplings, I had to either use my 2 gallon stock pot and make a small batch (and risk food boiling over) or use a 5 gallon stock pot and either make a huge batch or inefficiently use my pot. The Cuisinart 12 quart (3 gallon) stock pot has been a much needed addition to my collection of pots and pans. WHAT IS IN THE BOX: One mirror finish 18/8 stainless steel 12 quart (3 gallon) stock pot with pasta insert, steamer insert and stainless steel lid. WHAT I LIKE: Every single piece of this set fits into my dishwasher! I hate hand washing pots because I just don’t think they end up as clean as they do in the dishwasher. This pot is the perfect size for chili! Chili not only tastes better the second day, but it freezes well for “fast food” on days when I don’t have time to cook or I don’t feel like cooking. If I am going to go through the trouble of making homemade chili, then I want to make enough for it to be worth my time. Plus, I always end up with more beans after soaking them over night than I think there will be. It is so much easier to cook chili in this 3 gallon pot than it ever was in a 5 gallon stock pot and I just could never seem to make the under 2 gallons of chili necessary to use my smaller stock pots. The pasta insert is great for boiling whole chickens and other things I want to pull out of the cooking liquid. It is also great when I make large quantities of homemade pasta. I like to entertain and this is the perfect size pot for cooking a big meal. I do a lot of all day cooking with this pot and it has never developed a hot spot or given me any trouble. The heat truly is distributed throughout the bottom of the pan resulting in even cooking. This pot is not so deep as to make stirring contents difficult. It is not too heavy to move around even when full. WHAT I DON’T LIKE: I prefer clear lids to the metal one on this pan. The clear lid is available on a similar sized pot at an increased cost, but it wasn’t worth the increase in price to me. PICTURES: I am including a picture of my 2 gallon and 5 gallon stock pots side by side. I also have a picture of these 2 pots with the Cuisinart 12 quart pot in between them. I purchased the Cuisinart 77-412 Chef’s Classic Stainless 4 Piece 12-Quart Pasta/Steamer Set at full price.

I used this pot as soon as I received it, and it was actually much better than I thought, and the price was great too! I was skeptical at first, because a couple reviews I read, stated this pot is too large and sits too close to the stove vent, NOT true, or they must be really short, in order to complain that this pot is too large, and too tall... it's really a perfect size. Another review I read, someone complained that there is too much space between the pot and the insert, and that it was a waste of water, apparently, this person doesn't realize that this is also a STEAM pot, and it is necessary for the extra space, so your food doesn't get water logged. In fact, I can't wait to steam some crab legs, and some live lobster in it real soon!! Anyway, I am quite pleased with my purchase, and I will NOT be returning it. Also, it cleans up very nice, fast and easy, and it shines without leaving water spots.

This line of Cuisinart is exquisite for cooking and looking good in the kitchen. Don't waste your money on All-Clad or Viking when you can have comparable cookware at a fraction of the cost. They have all shapes and sizes for all your cooking needs.

This pot is a kitchen staple for us. We use it at least one or twice a week. The top steamer is nice to steam veggies or fruits (to puree or freeze). The larger pasta insert works great, if you don't fill the water too full! The main pot has a "fill line" but I have a tendency to forget to turn the heat down, and I've spilled out starchy water several times. Whoops! We've also used the pot for large soups, because it is SO big. Which is something to take into consideration - it is a BIG pot, so it requires a good chunk of space to store. Not a problem, just something to note when purchasing.

Really great pot, has cleaned up easy after every use, no burns in making some pretty big amounts of soup and such. The inserts for the pasta make this thing really fun as well. Silver as heck and still easy to clean, No mars on the finish so fart after some months of use. Its become our go to stock pot over the 8 quart we used before this.
