I bought my first pair of Keen sandals ten years ago, and have loved them ever since. I needed something that was sandal-like, but offered a little more toe protection. The Newport fit the bill perfectly. My original Newport H1's are still going strong. The H2's have the webbing on them, instead of leather, but are basically the same thing. I bought the H2's with the idea that I'd be using them in more wet environments. They are very comfortable, and I've even done some light hiking in them. I do find that they tend to fit small, for my taste. I usually wear a US size 9 in athletic shoes, but find I need to order a 10 in the H2's to get the fit I like. If you like your sandals snug, I'd suggest ordering a half size big. If you like them "relaxed" (ie, don't fall off your feet, but can be kicked off without using your hands), maybe look at going a full size bigger.

I love these sandals. I wear them hiking and kayaking in the Colorado Rockies; I've also taken them to Costa Rica and Panama, where they really excel in the outdoors. I even wear them casually in the suburbs while I walk my dogs. I played a game of impromptu pickup basketball once as well. They are good for myriad situations! If I'm not mistaken, the hard rubber soles are made by Vibram (even though this doesn't seem to be marketed by Keen explicitly)... They are virtually indestructible. I've walked over hundreds of miles of sharp mountain rocks and the soles barely show any wear. I've had a few pairs of this model over the past decade, and have always been satisfied. The only derogatory thing I could say: They do tend to be weakest in the stitching near the heel. I know how to sew and I often remedy this before it becomes an issue; nonetheless, that is a point worth mentioning. In my estimation, if this product is going to fail, it's going to happen somewhere on the stitching. If you wash these in the washing machine with the old-fashioned agitators, be sure to use a gentle cycle!

I have extremely wide feet (typically wear a men's size 11EE or 10.5EEEE), and finding sandals that even sort of look like they could be women's sandals is almost impossible. Add in trying to find a pair that provided support if you plan to wear them for active things, well you get the idea. this sandal did all of that. While not feminine in any way, it passes as a unisex sports sandal and the comfort is AMAZING! I wore these all week on our recent trip to the florida keys and my plantar fasciata never once flaired up, they were comfortable even in the extreme heat when my feet got sweaty, they had great grip on boat decks, and when they got wet they dried fairly quickly. Add in the very wide toe box area and my feet never got any blisters in the really wide area where most sandals rub. Happy feet!

I have a few different pair of sandals for the warm weather. These, while being good for everyday wear I favor when working around the house. They are comfortable and open enough so your feet aren't likely to sweat. Most importantly, they protect the toes and foot well. They'd do well for hiking but for the beach or lounging on the deck with a cold one where foot protection isn't a concern, I prefer something more open. I have had these for a couple years now, holding up nicely and still look good. They clean up easily from things like mud or grass clippings by spraying them with a hose and setting in the sun to dry out. I am happy with my purchase and would purchase again.

Don't know why I'm taking time to write a review - but here I am re-ordering with my favorite footwear and thought I'd share my thoughts. Let me start out with a travel guide point - footwear is the number 1 space 'eater'. I like to travel light with a backpackable, travel bag - see LLBean. Everybody I talk too that travels says newbies: 1. Take/Pack too much clothes/footwear, and 2. Don't take enough $$$. IMHO: Everything you need for indefinite travel overseas can go in an overhead, easy to carry bag. Sandals can be your only shoes providing you're not going formal or need hiking boots. Sandals do everything - guess the Roman's knew something ! Anyway, I've just finished a year and several trips; in the summer I wear nothing but Keen Newports. On travel (unless there's something special) I just take Keen Newports. I normally wear a 9.5 but order 1/2 size larger - 10 - the fit is perfect. I've tried Teva's but they have velcro closure straps - sounds OK, but the velcro picks up stuff and is a pain to keep clear and from snagging in the wash. The Keen's have stretch bands that are easy to use and snag proof. So far this year I've gone on two fishing trips in Canada and both times wore the Keen's - once that's all I had. I either wear them without socks or with 'DarnTuff' merino ankle socks (life time guarantee - no poly phew!). I also carry a pair of GoreTex over socks in case of in-climate weather. For instance, in light snow/wading puddles they're quite comfortable with GoreTex over socks. Speaking of water. Keen's are supposed to be made to be submerged - at anyrate they sell them in fishing stores. I wear them canoeing and other outside activities where they get wet - no problem. Being sandals, they dry quickly and on the feet. For instance, I periodically toss them in the washing machine and wear them straight out - just walk around the block with damp ones' and they will be dry.. I've hiked miles in Rocky Mountain National Park in these. I wouldn't wear them backpacking - but for day hikes they are fine. With ankle socks and dockers - I'm good to go for casual lunching and dining - pretty much anywhere. Next year I'll be spending a month in New Zealand - probably just take these and a pair of slip on moccasins for wearing in folks houses. Heartily recommend: A. Do as the Roman's did - wear sandals as number 1 footwear - you'd be surprised how much it simplifies one life and travel packing ! and, B. buy Keen Newport H2's

Bought these as a gift for my husband who loves his Keen hiking boots so much that he bought a back-up pair of Keen boots. This is saying a lot because he's a forester, is in some kind of boot most of the time, and has tried them all. He has hard feet to size footwear for, as they're wide and also flat. Since this Keen brand seemed to work so well for him, I ordered 2 variations of these sandals (as well as 2 sizes of each) as a bday gift, so he'd be able to choose the best fit. The other Keen sandal I ordered was the original Keen sandal. I thought the older original and sized up would probably be the best fit for him best based on reviews I'd read, but it was these lighter lower profile sandals in his actual size (not the sized up pair) that fit him spot on!. A perfect match! And, with their lighter design, they looked way better on him than the heavier Keens. So happy these worked out -- they look great (not too hulkish), and he loves them! A Plus is that these sandals ventilate well, and also cover up his bruised up toenails that he gets from year round field work on steep terrain in cleated hiking boots.

Keen is the best out of the 3 different water sandles I have bought. My first pair lasted me 3 years of fishing and hiking before they finally failed. I put many, many more miles than the average person does. The closed toe has saved me many times while fishing. The grip is great in water. Only drawback is that once you get a rock into the sandle you have to take it completely off your heel to get it out. This will happen many times in a day of fishing Montana. I have tried to find an easier way... believe me. Even tried to ignore the rock. Ouch. I am sure a water shoe ad opposed to a sandle would do better. I went to buy another pair but they didn't have my size so I bought a knock off brand. Didn't even get a year out of them. Then a salesman convinced me to try a 3rd brand that would do better at getting those pesky rocks out. Absolute garbage! Now I am back to only buying Keen!

These sandals are great. This is my second pair of them, the first ones lasted me 7 years and actually are still in OK shape, but a little worn so I wanted to get a new pair. I wear these ALL THE TIME in the summer. I bought the original pair because we were going on a tubing trip for a cruise and I wanted something I could wear in the water. I came to find they were great for that, but also as every day shoes. I have used these on that tubing trip and subsequent trips to beaches, rivers, etc. The clean up easy and if they are really dirty I toss them into the laundry and get them clean. They were recommended because of the materials they are made of. Being all synthetic there is never an issue with them smelling or picking up an odor. Since this is my second pair, I would definitely say I would buy these again.

Many of my friends and family owned Keens. I've since joined the cult... First I started by getting Keen's Safety Shoes for my job (Test/Manufacturing Area). Fabulous! I decided to snag these bad boys before embarking on my honeymoon; I needed something that would allow my feet to breathe while walking ~26,000 steps a day. WOW are they comfortable. They fit my feet as expected with an easy to adjust spring slider on the front which you can tuck into the "laces." They gave plenty of grip while walking, but allowed my feet to breathe as normal. Even with the closed toe front, you still have the occasional rock sneak in through your heel, but as long as you aren't marching on really fine gravel, it isn't an issue. Most of the time you won't even have any issues walking on fine gravel. All in all, these are the sandals to get! Especially if you plan on walking a lot. Do note they are waterproof, so if you're looking for something to jump into a pool or ocean, they'd handle it just fine.

This was my second pair of Keen sandals. The first pair was leather and lasted 7 years. This pair is synthetic webbing, very comfortable and I hope they last as long. I wear size 11, bought size 13 like my old ones and they fit perfectly. They run one or two sizes small compared to a normal shoe size. They're a bit expensive but sometimes you get what you pay for.
