I've used several compact compressors and this one is the best. One of the negative reviews complained about the rattling of the plastic panel that holds the display dials. Well, that must have been years ago because they it is now solid welded metal. The whole thing is solid. And quiet. Wheels and axle arrived fine. They are solid metal. In fact if it was any better built it would be even heavier than it is. Too heavy probably. So pretty much if you are in the market for a compact, this will get the job done. After break in period I changed the oil. Good habit to do that in my opinion.

In my boat building business, I have thoroughly pooped out four compressors with bigger capacity, and bigger claims than this little compressor. It has a smaller tank than the others, and its worked hard for the past six months. It's flat out better than any of the previous bigger compressors. And it is portable. It just keeps on going and holds it own. I wish I had more products in my life that I liked as much as this little guy.

Just like my brushless drills from makita Meryl perfect a little heavy weighing in at 104 pounds but we'll built never once had an issue with this beauty will continue to buy Mikita products

I own a small custom construction business. As odd as it sounds, we are licensed to do carpentry floors and roofs. We spend most of our time replacing cabinets and roofs. Go figure. The makita 5200 is one bad ass compressor that can keep up with any demand. It's heavy as hell but on wheels. It is the quietest non gas operated compressor I've ever seen. It can handle the most demanding of loads with ease. And no, i was not paid for this review. But please feel free to throw some tools my way!!

This thing is heavy. It has good CFM and recovery use for most air tools. You're not going to run a DA continuously but it is the best little air helper I have ever had. Short of 2-stage 240v three phase compressor, I can run two (2) os these little beauties in series and save a ton of money and have just as much air when I need it. I feed one into an old 80-gallon tank for reserve.

This compressor is awesome, things just aren't made this well very often anymore and my expectations were exceeded which rarely happens. I wanted a USA made compressor with these specs but they are becoming impossible to find at this price point. This unit is made in Taiwan clearly in a factory with solid quality control processes and superior to competitive units I have seen that all seem to be made in Mexico or China. The overall build quality is very sound, most components made of metal. Large tubing and sturdy grips on the frame, precise welding quality and paint finish and the rubber tires with ball bearing rims. The frame is almost over built and the folding handle, hinge mechanism and latches are all metal and feet very strong and I expect them to last a long time. Oil is included in just the right quantity and the break in process is quick and easy. The motor on this Makita unit it is quieter than the crappy 2 year old Bostich that it replaced and I am very happy with the noise level. The tank charges to capacity in about 45 seconds and the accuracy of the output is consistent. The cord and hose storage is a nice feature. I am concerned about the fragility of the gauge lenses and the vulnerable location of the drain valve but they are fine so far and this unit gets 5 stars all the way. Good job Makita, it seems you actually care to build a solid product that exceeds expectations, I have already recommended to 2 friends.

Great compressor, I love the high CFM, just wish they made a 3hp with a bigger tank so you could sustain the CFM for longer periods. For most tools this is more than sufficient, for SERIOUS tool usage you may need to look into a commercial unit.

First off had a problem with a bent wheel when delivered. Got a hold of Makita and they promptly sent out a replacement. The compressor works great with my impact wrench for changing tires and lug nuts zip right off and compressor holds its own. Does kick on pretty quick but doesn't lag behind and re-pressurizes very quickly. Only thing that seems troubling is you can't use an extension cord, even Makita recommends sit, so should be plugged in directly to an outlet. Other than that works great so far

Buying an air compressor was dictated by the necessity of driving nails through Hardie planking on a garage remodel, solo . . . then came the replacement of 150 feet of soffit and fascia, and then . . . I have a Senco framing nailer, a Hitachi finish nailer and this Big Bore Makita. So far so good. Everybody wants to borrow it (determining the half-life for compressors should provide a mathematician quite an enjoyable study), but I have a thing with my tools that requires a person to sign their life away if they borrow one, so with my personal usage alone (and a brief stint as a borrowed compressor for interior remodeling) this thing is quite acceptable for my use. It will drive 3 1/4" framing nails without a hitch, as I do, single-nail nailing rather than bounce nailing. It may or may not work with a bounce application. Not my style. If you are a home owner and do occasional small, odd jobs for others, this thing is quite portable, not too noisy (I always wear earplugs anyway), and light enough to throw it the pickup with the assistance of a friend. Vent the tank when you put it away in the evening to minimize corrosive vapor condensation! The compressor arrived in perfect condition. Follow the break-in directions carefully and the compressor should last out for a good while. Peace.

I have had this unit for 5 years at this point. Its served me well working on everything I throw at it. I have a older jeep and it will tear off any bolt with a good gun that I can find. Hub nuts and all its never stuttered. Use it for tires and grinding, whatever I need. Been very reliable, still in great shape, and I couldn't be happier. Its also I think one of the strongest 120v units which is why I got it. I needed the power but only had access most of the time to 120v. Also folds and is very portable so you can take it to a friends house and help on their car etc... Absolutely no drawbacks in my 5 years of ownership!
