These are very heavy duty Jack Stands that I have trusted my life with many times! I have used them on my 3/4 ton Dodge Ram several times and I have never even had a thought that they might break. The welds look really good and they used really heavy duty metal to put these together with. The double locking feature is an added bonus to give me piece of mind! Keep in mind these are for trucks and SUV's and will most likely not fit under most cars unless you jack them up way more than what is needed or even safe for basic maintenance work on a vehicle.

These jacks are what I was looking for to get maximum lift of my car. I found others that had a little higher lift, but didn't have the locking pin. The locking pin is an absolute must for me, because even though it is rare, bumping the locking handle on a jack without the pin CAN cause the jack to drop. The less weight on the jack, the easier it is to knock the handle and drop the jack. When I have the engine and transmission pulled from my car, there is only about 600 to 700 lbs resting on the jack. I won't get under the car unless the jack has locking pins. ( I knew someone who was killed when his car dropped off of his jacks and crushed him). My old set of jacks had the pins too, and I used them for over 25 years with no problems, but they didn't have the lift height of these jacks. Well worth the cost for the lifting range and locking capacity. The only issue I had (not a big deal) was the box was partially crushed and one of the stands had paint chipped off of it, but I really don't care since these are to be used and not to just sit in a corner looking pretty.

These jack stands work great. I’ve never used a set with the double locking pin and I really like that. They are simple to assemble, just slide the black piece in the red piece and bend the tab over. Self explanatory if you’ve ever used a jack stand before. Oh and another reviewer complained about how having to assemble a piece of safety gear yourself seems unsafe - something about bending the tab over. The tab just keeps the top from coming back up out of the bottom if you were to pick the jack stand up from the top. The tab bears no weight. Just an FYI to anyone who doesn’t understand the purpose of the tab. I would question the quality control though. After seeing all the photos of horrible welds, I immediately checked mine upon arrival. I am not a welder by trade, but have done a minimal amount of welding here and there. To me, the set I recieved does not appear to be too bad. There is a spot here or there that isn’t perfect but for the most part I think the welds are sufficient. Possibly the company read these reviews and fixed their QC dept, or possibly I just got lucky. I do wonder why they chose to only weld on the inside and not on the outside though.

If possible opt for 6 ton version. I have a 4runner with a respectable amount ground clearance (unmodified). I found myself using the maximum extension of the 3 ton jack when changing the oil. I was able to perform the maintenance and there is even enough clearance to change a tire or do the brakes but I would love to have the extra range of the larger 6 ton version. The product performs as advertised but if you have an SUV or truck then don't sell yourself short.

Never had 6 ton stands before always 3 ton or junk scavenged from trailers and worse. These are nice, really nice. Big and on my little Acura she is jacked up reaaaaaly high (both side wheels off the ground) just to get these under at their lowest setting. With a little work you could get a car up ridiculously high. I felt way safer under the car with these monsters holding it up compared to my 3 ton ones. Massive overkill for a little Acura, yep. Worth it YEP!

First let me get this out of the way. This is a strong and durable product and at this price it is better than any local offering I have.... [Walmart, Napa, autozone]. Now for the flaw. The secondary lock mechanism may not work on certain heights. It is due to the inconsistent build quality of the adjustable stem. Some parts are overly sprayed or shaved/molded incorrectly so the little pin will not go in. No problem.... just move it a couple ridges higher or lower then it will slide in. In my case I use it on the lowest setting so the second pin is not used so I have no issues with this. Now if you are lifting your Diesel truck and need to extend it up, you may need to find the sweet spot. Then the pin will go in. Aside from this issue you will love this product. Just mark the stem at the height that the pin will easily go in. Now many will not encounter this problem. Mine may just be one of those poorly built ones. But if you do send it back. I unfortunately won't since I live in Hawaii and it took 3 to 4 weeks to get here... damn covid shipping issues.... and I won't be able to get the jobs done that I need right now. But if you live on the mainland please check this out before you use it so you can return. Aloha!!!!

I ordered these Big Red jacks after returning three sets of Harbor Freight jacks to their store after they recalled several models of stand jacks. I was pleasantly surprised when I received these Big Red jacks. I bought two sets of 6-ton jacks and one set of 3-ton jacks with the anticipation that I might need to return them if the quality was not acceptable. I was concerned about some of the reviews that seem to be from some time ago. These Big Red jacks show very good manufacturing quality with clean welds and consistent finishing in all six jacks. The safety pin is a must for me, and they fit fairly good on all possible step heights on all of the 6-ton jacks. On the 3-ton jacks, I had to grind and file a little bit the first three or four teeth on both jacks to make them fit properly. Not a big deal, but something I shouldn't have had to do. I adjusted the teeth instead of the pin or the pin opening because they fit well in all other step heights. It is not a product that I would be buying often, but I am very satisfied with the product. The quality of these Big Red jacks is probably five times better than the recalled Harbor Freight jacks that I wouldn't risk my life going under any vehicle with them. Also, these Big Red jacks seem to have a capacity of 6 tons each (very sturdy), as opposed to Harbor Freight 6-ton jacks capacity for the pair. Same thing with the 3-ton jacks capacity vs. HB 3-ton pair capacity. You can do your own research, but just looking at the Big Red jacks you would realize they are much more strong and sturdy. The safety pin is also peace of mind since you cannot raise or lower the jack without disengaging the safety pin.

I bought a pair of the 3 ton ones to use as extra support when I'm working on my jeep (about 3200 lbs). I inspected afte delivery, and found no problems with the pair (no cracks on the frame, no paint chips etc.) so the quality seems high. They are solid as well, though most of the mass seems to be in the black part. While I like the idea of the double-lock design, I never rely on this alone for my safety. Always use these in conjuction with something else. For me, it's my scissor jack, coupled with a wheel under the car. Better safe than sorry. I do feel like the design could've been better to allow the silver pin to contact a greater area of the black part, for a more secure form of protection. But, I won't take away a star, because this is the secondary protection mechanism, and because you should never be under a vehicle relying soley on jack stands for support. Like I said, I use these while sharing some of the weight of the vehicle on the scissor jack, while a wheel is placed under the vehicle just in case. These stands have never felt wobbly under the jeep for me, and I have no reason to doubt their ability to support the weight I expose them to. And, of course, just in case they begin failing, I do a pre-inspection and post-inspection, so I'll notice. I got these for just over $30, and at that price point, I am happy with what I got. If I wanted something to make me feel 'safer', I'd easily spend ten times that. Or maybe I'd buy a floor jack, or a ramp, or even a lift.

I was very worry because I bought them before reading the reviews (Since Big Red produces such good items) which are very bad. I reviewed extremely careful these towers, and, sincerely, I tell every body, all my concerns were gone. The "Teeth" that engages in the bar is extremely well designed and sits deep in its place of the bar. The same the safety pin. They cannot engage any deeper in the bar; they go all the way deep in its place which by the way, it is quite deep. About the weldings, they could not be any better. I am not a welder but I can tell that the wilding is clean and smooth; no imperfections. Very sturdy; they cannot be made any stronger because then the towers would be very heavy. As they are, they are already heavy but perfect for your big SUV like a 4runner or Land Cruiser. I am very happy with this product.

I bought these two jacks to work on my 2007 Nissan Xterra. I have since sold that car and purchased a 2007 Lexus GX470. Both of these cars are well serviced by these jack stands. They have been useful for oil changes, brake pad changes, tire rotations, and differential oil changes. I anticipate they will work as expected when I need to change shocks. I still put a spare out as a redundant safety system, but never have concerns working under a car on these stands. I am a non-profit summer camp director, so budget is tight, but I am excited to purchase two more for a total set. TL;DR Hasn't dropped a midsize SUV on me and gives me plenty of room to work on regular maintenance under the car without need for a creeper. Will purchase more.
