Price and ready acceptance 5 star, bag construction 2 star.
I read many reviews, noting that most were either near 5 or near 1. I found that indeed it is difficult to open the package without tearing the strip that supposedly seals it. I repackaged into smaller portions. But the frequent comments about difficulty getting fish to eat the food is hard to understand. I have a lily pond about 20 x 9 feet with 6 koi about 10 inches long and too many goldfish to count (40+). Both species immediately gobbled up the pellets. (I let the pellets soak to expand out of fear that they could eat too many of the smaller pellets and they would expand too much in the gut). I'll definitely be a regular customer from now on. The 10 pounds cost less than the 3.5 pound bags I've bought locally--assuming I can even find a bag that big.

Our dog even likes it.
Fish seem to like it, total feeding frenzy at feeding time. Our dog even enjoys the occasional morsel when we drop some on the ground. Possibly related side effect--- dog keeps jumping into pond and is a really good swimmer now.

Great way to feed my fish.
This fish food is just what I needed. I have a Gar fish in my home aquarium and I feed him live fish which can get very expensive and I feel bad for the feeder fish. I have found from years of experience that you can get your carnivorous fish to eat pellets it just might take some time. Once you get your fish to eat pellets you can feed them this everyday and go longer in between live feedings. If you do this you need to check the protein content higher protein content is better and you still need to get live fish every two weeks or every month to balance their diet. I found this method to be very effective its cheaper and if your like me you wont feel as bad feeding them live fish because you do it less often. Kaytee Koi's Choice Premium Fish Food is higher in protein than some of the other brands and is still very reasonably priced. I would recommend getting a storage container for this food because the bag will rip open at the top near the zip lock and this will dry out your fish food(a 2 1/2 gallon bucket worked for the 3 pound bag) also get a smaller container to fill up so you don't have to pull the larger container out everyday.

Economical and Sensible - Wish We'd Found This Years Ago
This is THE WAY to go if you have decent-sized koi. I wish I had all the money back that we wasted on "premium" bags ($20+/3 pounds) and on "color enhancing" bags ($25+/3 pounds) of food. No discernible difference in fish color, water quality, digestion/behavior, etc over the last year during which we've used this product - and we spend a lot of time next to our pond and time caring for it.

Good fish food Great price and shipped to my front door
I'm happy to say that my fish like this brand and I'm Happy to say none of my fish died. I hand a traumatic experience with Wardley brand last year I purchased it at Wally World as I had done for over 10 years but one feeding out of the fresh unopened bag I feed one time and my husband came in the house and told me over 35 koi also gold fish that were extremely large were dead and that was the end of using that food and I contacted Walmart and Wardley about contamination of food And neither one returned any answers to my emails or phone calls. 8 Koi that were killed were over 2.5 feet long I had them since they were 4 inches long so I'll be buying this food from now on already order 2 bags and just opened second 10 lb bag and no fish loss. Happy also that I don't have to go to store since it is shipped to my front door

good food as compare with high end brands and at a great price
i always thought that paying more meant better food but its not always the case. Here is my long review for those who care. i tried switching to higher premium brand but the results where pretty similar. i also noticed that the protein content is fairly high on this brand even more so the main ingredient is fishmeal while most others are flour as the first listed, meaning containing the most of. so now i am back to kaytee and my fish just eats it all up and growing nicely. the testing of different brands (dainichi all seasons, Tetra koi growth,Hikari gold) went on for about 2 years that and i have been using kaytee for about 6years prior, so i am familiar with what it does or does not so that is what i use to evaluate my results, no real scientific testings just what i noticed over the 8 years now of owning koi. if money is not a big deal then i have to say dainichi is the best from what i noticed, but overall as i stated not by much mainly it was just cleaner water, less powder or dissolves material after feeding. even so in the end the koi ate it all the same grew at same rate depending on number of feeding and water temp/cleanlinest. anyway in short its good koi food at really great price and results were similar across the brands. for reviewers who state their fish dont touch it, i like to see video proof of that, most koi will eat almost anything, it just if we want them nice looking, big and coloful is the case of why we pick the food brand. in japan farmers just feed them left over rice and that has been going on for thousand of years, koi are carp family which can eat almost anything they get their month on, to think of them not eating this food, maybe over feeding ?

Great fish food!
I got this for my aquarium gold fish. I have one fish and he acts like he is starving all the time. He will gobble up the food we put in and then a couple hrs later splash\smack at the water wanting more. He was a tiny fish when we bought him about a yr ago and now he is about 4 inches long. We was spending about $4.00 for one of those can of pellets at Walmart every few months. I thought since he was bigger this would be a better deal and I was correct. This will save us a lot of money and he loves this food! I wasn't for sure if he could handle the pellets at this size, so I got my metal garlic press and I put enough pressure to break the pellets without turning them into powder and he had no issues being able to get them. Also breaking them caused quite a few to sink so if you have bottom feeders this will work. We are very satisfied and would recommend this product.

koi love this food
I've been giving my Koi this food for years now and they love it of course. They have always been healthy and very vibrant in color. will continue to use this fish food.

Good value food
Good value, note fish is primary ingredient so this is a warm-weather food. Koi seem to like it just fine, good "value" food. Haven't noticed any issues with water quality while feeding, but then I'm careful not to over-feed.

My Koi Fish Like IT
I started using this koi food on 06/14 I have a small pond with three butterfly koi's and too many to count Shubunkin. My fish love this food, I feed then once a day when the fish became active and during the summer and fall months. They have nice color and look healthy. I have not had any sick/dead fish for years except for a couple of times had Great Blue Heron pluck them out. I have plants in the pond and do not add water (just rain water.) I built a second deep small reservoir above the pond and I put water hyacinth in it to filter the water from the pump. The pump is inside a five gallon bucket with lid with about 100 1/4" holes drilled on the side I clean the pump about once a month during summer and fall. I have had this pond since 1996 and with trial and error it is now pretty much maintenance free.
