Practically perfect
Never having used guitar tools before, I was skeptical of this all-in-one. Not having pulled bridge pins before, I was especially worried about how that feature would work, but I figured it was hard to go wrong for the price and I could always return it if it didn't work well. ... which it definitely does, on all counts. The string cutter is not high-end, but doesn't need to be; two stamped pieces of metal, which is all the blades are, work perfectly fine. The bridge pin puller basically works by wedging in under the bridge pin and yanking, which is fairly easy to do with little practice. The winder fits well enough on our guitars and has a neat design--you can fit it over a standard-sized tuning peg, but there are notches which fit well too.

Not my favorite so far. Great idea but not thought out as well as it needed to be.
This makes me want to go back to using just a puller/winding tool because the cutter just gets in the way and makes it hard to cooperate when winding keys which makes it take more time but I wanted an all in one tool and this is just that. No compliant there but maybe one with a removeable cutting tool that can be taken away from the winder/puller for when you need to speed-wind, pull pegs without worrying if the cutting tool is gonna flip and scratch your guitar, or for when just needing to cut strings you wouldn't have to hold a huge tool but just a cutter instead, yet be able to put it all back together and put it back in the case accessories door for safe travels and future use.

Replaced several tools and saves my fingers.
I had a string winder. I had a pair of wire cutters. These do both at the same time, for a fair price, without having to put down one tool to pick up another. Saves me some time and does a fair job. I am an electric kinda guy, but I have a few acoustics, and being able to pull bridge pins with the same tool is also nice. As a hobbyist luthier with nearly two dozen guitars, it gets a work out, and does well. I like the design on the wire cutters, as a nick in the blades doesn't require the effort to fix like a true wire cutter.

Planet Waves Pro Winder String Winder and Cutter Tool
This Planet Waves/D'Addario tool is nicely made here in the USA and works very well. I used it recently when restringing my acoustic guitar and it definitely made the job a lot faster and easier. The steel cutter blades made quick clean cuts through the strings and the plastic winder fit the tuning peg knobs snugly without scratching the chrome on them. There is a C-shaped pin puller on the end of the handle that slips under the bridge pin from behind and wedges it up and out without leaving any dings or scratches in the rosewood bridge on my guitar. This all-in-one tool is only about 5" long X 2-1/4" wide, so won't take up a lot of room if you carry it in your case along with extra strings.

Reliable D'Addario
I got this to trim guitar strings after I put a new set on. This is a multi-purpose piece of equipment that every guitarist who plays with steel strings needs to have. This modest piece of equipment will not only wind and unwind your strings, it will trim away any excess, and there is a special end for removing string pegs. Whether you play electric or acoustic, this is a must in your equipment arsenal.

The winder is smooth and comfortable to use
What can I say? Its everything a stringed axe-wielder of any musical persuasion needs in an all-in-one string maintenance system. You've got the bridge pin puller on the non-winding end of the handle, the string winder itself, and the string cutter to avoid that angst-y grunge hero Neil Young wannabe clutter of unused string length hanging off your headstock. The winder is smooth and comfortable to use...might seem silly but I've owned some very poor designs in 20+ years of playing. The bridge pin popper does just what its supposed to and performs admirably without creating a fuss. The real gem on this beauty is the string cutter. I'd previously resorted to carrying a pair of pliers or a small wire cutter in my gig bag along with my spare strings and sometimes it just didn't cut as easily or cleanly as I'd've liked. This beautifully lops off the ends and is wee enough to get right down close to the tuning machine post if you so desire. I now have a handful of these, one for each gig bag, one for my cables & misc bag and one that sits around where my instruments are so I have it handy. Its worth every penny.

Not sure what the negative reviews are about...
I just got this in today and I'm not so sure what the one and two star reviews are about, this product works great! The strings were cut on both my acoustic guitar and electric. Smooth as butter. I won't be using the peg puller or the knob winder because I can just use pliers for the pins. If I had a more expensive guitar I might use it because this product is designed for that but for the knobs I simply turn them with my hands. This product could easily sell for double, but I'm happy with $12!

Heavy duty
Strong materials. Functions as I had wished. Looks like it will last a long time.

Nice Little Tool To Have
I had a winder tool but hated always chasing down some wire cutters, so when I recently ordered some sets of strings I add this little gem to the order. I like the winding action on this better than the previous tool I have used and the "peg puller" works like a charm...and having the cutter right in hand is really convenient. While it's not an expensive tool to get I will say it doesn't feel like a cheap bit of junk either. I don't expect it to last forever but with normal use I expect to keep it around for a while. It was definitely worth getting.

Not a high end tool, but works as intended and is a great value
I'm giving this product 5 stars for overall value. I've changed strings 3 or 4 times now with this winder and it works pretty well. The fit of the tuner knob connection is a little funky and seems like it won't work, but it does - it has not slipped off at any time and goes on with just a little effort. This is not a high end tool, but it does work and for the price I can't say there is anything wrong with it. I don't know how it would hold up with constant use, but unless you are a luthier, I would recommend this winder.
