Good reed for the price

My son plays the bassoon, so this review is based upon what he has told me. He prefers this brand over any other brand I have bought for him. They seem to last longer as well. The ones I buy at the music store break pretty quickly, but this brand lasts several months of constant use. He told me he likes the texture of the reed better, and he feels it is easier to get a more consistent sound out of it. For me, the price is a plus too. Bassoon reeds are expensive, and this one is a bargain.

Durable reeds. My beginning Bassoon playing daughter makes noises with these that can reasonably be considered music.

Five stars because of the Jones Company. The 3 reeds I received all came apart becoming unusable. I contacted Jones, and they replaced them. The indicated there had been a problem with the protective coating on the final wrapping and were now using a new product. All is fine. Great service from the manufacturer.

I have played saxophone and clarinet for about six years and six months ago I picked up bassoon to play in my schools wind ensemble. As a beginner on the instrument it is hard to find appropriate reeds that are inexpensive and produce quality sound, but after purchasing about seven or eight of Jones reeds and a number of other types of reeds I have found that Jones are much more reliable and out of the seven or eight I have purchased only one was below my standards but after a bit of shaping played perfectly in practice. I would definitely recommend these reeds to anyone picking up the bassoon, I intend to continue purchasing Jones reeds until I can afford the tools to start carving my own reeds.

Daughter just started playing the bassoon. These were better than the first reed the school provided her. There is a slight variance between the 2 reeds we ordered but both were of better quality than what the school provided.

I have played bassoon for 30 years and used these reed consistently, and they are the BEST, most reliable you can purchase without making yourself. I suggest med. hard and shaving down vs. one that is med or softer - they won't last like the med hard. peace

The best reed for Basson. I only wish the price was a little less since I can get it for $15 on Walmart.com.

This is a great product and I will buy it again. I have experimented with cheap, foreign made reeds which can't even hold the same note, much less play in tune. This is a refreshing change. It's a great balance between affordable and a great product. I have no interest in making my own reeds, so I will continue to purchase Jones reeds for future use.

Good constant sound. I’ve had good luck with this brand for some time now, so I am definitely buying again when I need a new reed.
