Solid mount.Holds cut-off bar well. I have a small mini-lathe and this is clearly the best cut-off tool I've used (5th one I've tried over the years). It not make you pretty buy it will cut off round stock.

At last, a cut-off tool that WORKS!

Excellent cut-off tool. Cutting surface wider than the rest of the tool so the tool sides do not drag against the walls of the cut. Left and right bevel on the top surface of the tool gives a very sharp cutting point to the tool. Suddenly I can cut off material in the lathe without chattering, jamming, or cussing. I really like this tool! I work mostly with aluminum and find lubing the work with WD40 this tool cuts like a hot knife through butter.

When I learned how to do machining I was told there are 3 rules to it. #1 ridgid, #2 ridgid, #3 ridgid. This tool does exactly that. This set up also allows me to use it with my quick change set up on my lathe. Well worth the price.
