Excellent Skillet
This skillet was purchased to replace a much cheaper West Bend product that had lasted for many years but the temperatures on the plug-in dial were unreadable after so many uses. We debated about another West Bend, but after reading the reviews, and noting the higher temperature that this skillet can reach (450 degrees), my wife voted to go for the more-expensive skillet. She loves it! It is a bit deeper and she likes having the higher temp available. One curious advisory in the owner's manual is that you should not use it for "deep" frying with oil, something we did often with the old skillet (cooking fried shrimp, for example). Not sure why it should be a problem with this skillet - I suspect it was inserted at the insistence of a lawyer, who was concerned someone might get a splash of hot oil and sue the company. But it is a stated limitation we did not find on other skillets we have owned. But this seems to be a quality product that works as advertised, and my wife is happy with it!
Summer Day
Got Chicken?
Talk about a skillet! WOW and once more WOW! In the so-called good old days our moms would take out that 10 pound black skillet and get her going for Sunday's fried chicken lunch. Don't you dare try to wash it, either. Then after many attempts at replacing that skillet, Cuisinart introduced its CSK-150 for us to use and eventually put the old black skillet in the recycle area of the house. Quick, easy, and oh so good chicken among so many other fried goodies. Then Cuisinart added a glass top to make the eating experience even better. Mom's skillet had no top and it made a difference to the taste of some of the foods. The days of dry foods can be eliminated when using the top and when you can see through the top it just so much better. Shucks, I liked this skillet so much I put it on my to-give list and have done so to several and each has commented that the skillet has a demanding position in the kitchen so that it is easily grabbed when cooking time arrives. Additionally, I have found Cuisinart to be a commendable all around cooking set of products. If you want quality without the significant cost of some other brands, you will not go wrong with Cuisinart. Bon apetit or something like that.

Excellent skillet
There isn't much one can add to existing reviews here. It is big, so be sure you have somewhere to store it if you like to keep it out of sight. On the other hand, you may find yourself using it so often you might as well leave it out with the coffee pot. That has almost been the case in our household where it is used several times a week and handles everything we throw at it beautifully. This device cooks evenly and very well, and it is wonderfully easy to clean. It is also attractive, which hasn't been my experience with other skillets. Treat it with the caution it deserves (remember - NO metal utensils in a non-stick appliance!) and it should serve you well for a long time. Update: January 1, 2011 - still going strong.

Excellent! Looking for a keeper? BUY THIS!
Phenom!!! If you are looking for a do it all skillet of high quality this is it! I love this thing. The non-stick is great, the large cooking area is excellent, this is my favorite item in the kitchen. No hot spots, very even and reliable heating. The negatives are true, but honestly non issues, more like minor annoyances. It does buzz oddly when heat cycling, which can be annoying..but no more-so than any toaster oven. I haven't had the handles get hot as some say, but I could imagine it.

Great for a small family
This a a goregous skillet with room to cook for a family of 4 adults, I have 3 men in my house 44,25 and 21 and I have no problems cooking for them and having left overs. It very easy to clean, but make sure you have an area set aside to store it for it is large your going to need an area 20x14x10 minimum to store it. Also the only other thing I would have like to see is a longer cord it comes with like a 2 1/2 foot cord but I feel a 4 foot would better and a 6 foot Ideal. Love all the temperature settings going from warm to 450 F. The glass lid is very attractive but fogs up to much to see the progress of the food being cooked but most have lids you cant see through anyway. Overall I have not seen a better one on the market for the price I believe anyone who buys this and has the space to store it will be very happy.

These pans last forever and one may want to purchase an extra electric cord.
The most perfect electric skillet. I already have one and this one is for my son. Trying to teach him how to do Schnitchel. This is the perfect pan and Cuisinart is the perfect brand.

Heat plug
This is our forth same skillet, the heating plug seems to turn off & the temp doesn't stay constant so I took a deep fryer plug & use it so the heat stays on. Not sure why the heating control w/their plug does that but I found a way around the flow. Love the skillet & its so easy to clean. BUT you need to use only rubber cooking tools.

Love this product
Own 2 and just bought a third as a gift for the daughter. After reading several bad reviews, I had to check to be certain it was the same skillet we owned. We have had one for about 5 years and took it to the cabin when we bought another for the house. Both have been great and were new (as advertised) at the time of purchase. The daughter has graduated college and told me last month (August) that she wanted one for her house for Christmas this year. She knows I shop early and wanted to get her request in for months ahead as a good measure. Also took ours to church one Sunday morning as we were preparing breakfast for 200 people. We had the stove top and ovens full of sausage, bacon, gravy, biscuits, grits (yep we're from the south), etc. and scrambled 15 dozen (180) eggs using the one skillet. Two of the women in our Sunday school class got them for Christmas that year. After using it that morning, they were ready to throw their old skillets at home away. I would buy a 4th one if there was a need. The thermostat works great, the teflon coating is not worn since we clean it with a non-abrasive rag. Overall great product.

Good Investment
This is an excellent electric skillet! My husband thought I was crazy to spend $109 for an electric skillet since all the others we've had only lasted a year or two before the finish flaked or a leg or handle fell off. Before making a decision, I researched a lot of consumer review websites and found this skillet to be highly recommended. I've never been a fan of Cuisinart, believing that their pots and pans are over-rated and over-priced. This skillet proved me wrong. We use it weekly -- fried chicken, pot roasts, casseroles, pancakes, etc. It cleans right up with hot water, soap and a sponge and still looks new. Haven't had anything burn or stick to the finish. And my husband loves it. It is heavy but that keeps it safely in place as you're cooking and stirring. The only con is that it doesn't simmer as low as I'd like it to (but it's way better about it than any of the others I've had). If the finish holds up, I can deal with that. We've had it just over a year now -- hopefully it will last a long, long time.

Excellent tool for cooks at any level.
This is my fourth electric skillet in 35 years of cooking, and the first one I'm making excuses to use. Despite a kitchen filled with Le Creuset, All Clad, and Calphalon cookware, there are times I just want to stand at the counter and not at the stove to prepare dinner. This is a beautiful piece of equipment, nice enough to bring to table, and with a capacity spacious and deep enough to accommodate a large cut-up roasting chicken with potatoes and vegetables (which I did last night for first use), or for browning and then braising meat for a stew. There are no hot spots, as I've experienced with other electrics, so the even heat provided quick and even browning of all chicken pieces before braising. Also delightful to watch your dinner's progress through the tempered glass lid. A small steam vent keeps the lid from jiggling under too much pressure. I'm looking forward to doing a brisket in this skillet, as my round Dutch ovens could never handle the shape of that cut of meat and I had to use a roasting pan tightly sealed with foil. It is quite large - larger than I had expected, and just barely fits on a shelf in my kitchen cabinet. But nice enough to leave out on your counter if you must.
