Takes care of the problem - not just masking the smell
I used Klima Cleaner to clean out my BMW AC system that was smelling musty and moldy. The mildew and mold were built up inside the system, so spraying with Lysol will only mask the smell and not get rid of the source of the problem. It was a pretty simple process to remove the fan and get the foam to the right place. The air conditioner immediately smelled better and healthier. I recorded a video to show exactly how you can do this in about 20 minutes, just search YouTube for "stinky air conditioner fix e90"

the way to clear the smell with this excellent product is the following
This works well but for me with a Lexus sc300 which has a common problem of smell coming from the evaporator core from mold, the instructions on the bottle of either applying it through the air vents or through the evaporator drain hose won't work on this car. I tried all types of cleaners and methods, but if you happen to own a Lexus sc300 sc400, the way to clear the smell with this excellent product is the following... On the passenger foot well, remove the bottom panel under the glove box (near your feet) by removing two pressure tabs. Then pull panel off. Now remove two wing nuts that are clearly visible that were under the panel. These hold the cabin air filters (assuming you installed one as Lexus did not supply cabin air filters in U.S. models). Once you remove the wing nuts and the little door the wing nuts were holding, then there is access to the heater core. Just stick the tube that this bottle comes from in there and spray product pushing tube in and out and side to side as much as possible to spread product all over. The heater core is on the left side of the hole, and the blower fan on the right (assuming you are facing towards the front of the car). Make sure you place a towel underneath where you are spraying as some product will come back out and you don't want that getting on the car's computer as it is literally underneath the passenger floor mat where you will be working. Once bottle is empty, let product sit as instructed on bottle and follow the rest of directions regarding time to let product work. Lastly, once you have let the car sit for a while and let product ventilate from cabin, run the heat on full blast (make sure you open the windows and not face the vents towards your face. There will be quite a bit of what looks like dark spongy material coming out. That is the mold that has broken loose and was stuck in your system. Run it for at least 15-20 min heat full blast and then I recommend you vacuum your car and get all that nasty stuff out of your car. That is truly the only solution after many years of fighting the smell in this particular car. I came so close to selling it and didn't drive it for years as the smell from the mold left on my clothes and hair was unbearable. Hope this helps someone as I wish someone told me this years ago.

What I needed to clean out my Fiat 500 evaporator
This was the product that got rid of a persistent smell in a used 2013 Fiat 500e bought in 2018. More details: I had a persistent (but light) sock smell in a used 2013 Fiat 500e that I bought. I’d originally treated it with ozone because I couldn’t find the source, but I’d find that the smell would come back after a week or two, which suggested to me that the problem was something growing in the car. I steamed the carpets, changed the cabin air filter and cleaned out the cowl at a car wash but the smell remained. Eventually I figured out that when I didn’t use the air conditioner at all, the smell wasn’t present. This led me to suspect the A/C evaporator. After buying some service manuals, it was pretty clear to me that the evaporator is installed right against the air filter. Look online for guides on how to change the filter and you’ll be most of the way there. Once you have the filter out, you just fill up the part where the filter was with the foam (after giving the can a good shake and while holding it upright). You should place some paper towels around the drainage pipe coming of the A/C box since some of the solution can leak out. After a day or two the chemical smell was completely gone along with the original smell. Success!

It works!
True to its reputation, this product removed the mildew smell from my Hyundai's air ducts in a single, easy application. The instructions may be a bit difficult to follow for people unfamiliar with the layout of their car's climate control. I knew that my problem was coming from the AC condenser. That's almost ridiculously difficult to access directly on a 3rd-generation Elantra, but I was able to get to it using the flexible straw on the can. The blower on a 2001-2006 Elantra (in case anyone reading had the same problem) is beneath the opening for the cabin air filter; the straw was thin enough to slip between the vanes of the blower to the vicinity of the condenser. A cleaner smell did linger for about two weeks, but it was a mild citrus smell, not like air freshener or urinal cake.

Excellent cleaner.
Good foaming action, suggest slightly bigger can maybe two if u have large vehicle. I recommend a direct clean to the ac condenser, I feel that if u use the drain tube what will happen is u will soak the cabin air filters. I also suggest u run your favorite air disinfectant thru the air motor after but before u install your new cabin air filters. Good cleaning power, but I suggest vacuuming and blowing out any debris first. If possible use a cleaner for the first wash then finish of with this product. No residual odors left from the spray, but definitely air it out.

Ford Escape hybrid 2010 great product
I had a problem with my ford escape hybrid 2010 evaporator, these escapes don't come with a cabin air filter and the evaporator is enclosed in a box under the dashboard . Overtime dust and debris from the outside will be sucked in and clogged the evaporator and the airflow will be considerable obstructed thus little air comes out of the vents. My mechanic said to change the evaporator but quoted me $800 because he said the job will take 8 hours plus parts. So I decided to try Klima-Cleaner and before I used it I made sure the evaporator's drain plug was not obstructed by blowing air into it. I then inserted the tube thru the drain plug all the way in allowing about 3 inches so I can hold the can in a vertical position, sprayed 50% and the very slowly I continue to spray the rest by pulling the tube out very slowly attempting to cover the entire evaporator. I waited 20 minutes and by now most of the fluid had drain out. Turned the ignition on and at high speed I ran the fan for 10 mintues. Afterwards I start the ac and to my surprise the air flow from the vents is coming out better and stronger and the car cabin is getting cold in within 3 mintues at an outside temperature of 95°F. I ordered a second can because this product really works. Great product

Worked great and is lasting so far!
It worked great! Before using this product, my 2011 A4 AC smelled like something had crawled inside the evaporator and died... This worked very well! For the B8 A4, I found it was easiest to route the house through where the cabin filter is changed under the glove compartment. It's been almost three months and the smell has not come back. The trick to keeping it clean is to turn off the ac compressor and leave the fan running for a minute or two before turning the car off. This will help dry out the evaporator fins to prevent any gross build up. I attached a picture of the evaporator after using the Klima-Cleaner.

Removed a musty A/C smell on a Toyota Prius
The drains were working properly, but we still had a musty smell in the car when parked. This took care of the problem. Be careful when using it as the cleaner can end up dripping out of the duct housing. I recommend putting down plastic below the dash so that it does not drip onto the carpet. In our case, I removed the cabin air filter and inserted the tube back into the system until it was filled with the foam.

Very Effective Odor Removal
I've been using this product since I have owned my Charger. It is troubled with excessive condensation in the evaporator of the HVAC system. The first year of ownership I treated it twice and since I use it only once in the spring. I never tried treating through the blower because of the possibility of wetting the interior carpet. I feel I am fortunate that I am able to treat the system via the drain hole. The drain is located above the transmission on the firewall. I warm the can and shake vigorously. I spray in the drain hole till it squishes out. The foam has a consistency of shaving cream. I wait a couple of minutes and spray again until the can is empty. The foam turns to liquid in a few minutes and starts to drip out of the drain. When it stops dripping (10 minutes?) I dry the system by running the fan on high with the a/c off for a few minutes. I hope this helps others and I would recommend this product.

Wrapped steel wire around applicator to help aiming the tube and nozzle.
I used it for Mk VI Volkswagen GTI. It completely eliminated the A/C dirty socks odor. Here are tips for VW GTI Mk VI. (1) I removed the A/C filter and used the opening to push the applicator. (2) I wrapped steel wire around the vinyl tube of the applicator to make the hose stiff to hold it and change the nozzle direction. (3) I used a flexible inspection camera to aim the applicator. Without it, it is almost impossible to know where to aim the nozzle. The space in front of A/C evaporator of VW GTI is very tight and bent 90 degree so that you cannot see it directly. The orange fragrance of the cleaner lingered for ~2 days and then completely gone.
