All Plastic Blue Oval
When the lighted Ford Oval hitch cover I had broke I started looking for a replacement. This isn't what I want but It's all I could find that wouldn't be twice as expensive and have the same problems. I still expect that the automatic car wash or the salt and slush from snow driving will break this cover as well. However, It is a blue oval. The word Ford is not readily visible but is present. The red brake light is very clear when applied. Overall it's an acceptable alternative. Of course what I really want is a polished aluminum bi-level plate inset with clear crystal that illuminates the word Ford and is welded/bolted to a hitch tube.

Nice cover, increases visibility
I have owned the Bully "Ford" LED Hitch cover/brake light for around 2 years now, and it has worked great for me. I drive an older model (late 60's) truck, and as such the tail and brake lights are NOT the brightest you've seen. I picked up this light because I thought it would add a little light and look cool when the tail lights were on, and would also make my brake lights more visible when I hit my brakes. It was super-easy to put together, and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. As a tail light, it doesn't really do much beyond adding a nice blue "glow" with the word "Ford". However, as a brake light, the red and blue combine for a bright "blue dot pink" effect, which is pretty cool. The font is the classic Ford script, which is a nice touch. One note is that the entire light will blink with your turn signals, regarless of which one. It might have been nice if they could have split the circut 50/50 so that only one side or the other flashed according to which signal you had on. Anyhow, it did both jobs well... until today. As a previous reviewer noted, this light IS a little fragile. It sticks out more than your typical hitch light, and isn't something you want anyone standing on. I have to constantly remind the kids not to use it as a step. To date I've been very careful and have managed to keep it out of harm's way. But recently I was in a hurry and gassed it just a touch too much backing into my slot in the garage, and backed this cover straight into the concrete wall. Oops! I heard a *crunch* and feared the worse, but interestingly everything still looked solid on the outside... no cracks, fractures, etc. But on the INSIDE it appears the LED's were shattered. There were little bits of glass in the bottom of the inside casing, and it would no longer light up for any function. Upon removal, I found that the BACK of the light was "caved in" by the mounting bracket, which had mashed it right up agaist a printed circuit board on the inside. Perhaps a bit more reinforcement (steel?) to the back plate would've helped prevent this. While that was a major bummer, given the price of this cover, I still really like it. Amazon had a great deal and I immediately purchased another one because of the added safety it provides me with the brake light. I sometimes commute in the early mornings or find myself out after dark in the old truck, and this provides me a little extra "peace of mind" in knowing that I'm more visible to those behind me. So I highly recommend this cover, but also recommend that you be careful with it when backing up or climbing in and out of a truck bed.

4th one bought, and will buy more
I have purchased 4 of these, and will purchase more in the future if need be. I originally had one on my Ranger, but someone rear-ended me, so I had to purchase a second one for it. It is still on the Ranger and works just like the first day I got it. I purchased a third one for my Explorer. After backing up in to my Lincoln (it was a light tap), the housing cracked, and I had to purchase the fourth one, which is still on the Explorer and working fine. The blue light comes on with the park lights, and the red lights come on with the brake lights and hazards. It does this with both my 2000 Ranger and my 2002 Explorer Sport. I have it connected to the trailer harness, not wired in to the lighting itself. If your wiring is set up different, or you wire it different, then it will work differently. The light comes with an adapter so it can fit 1-1/2" or 2" receivers (the originals came 2" only, now you screw the size you need on to the back of the light to get your size). The only complaint I would have is how delicate the light is. If you accidentally step on it, or tap it on something while backing up (like I did), it will most likely break in some form or fashion. The light comes with a rubber spacer to go between the reciever and light to keep it from rattling, so the light does sit out a bit with the spacer (about 1") and the thickness of the housing (about 1-1/2"), which can help lead to accidentally stepping on it or hitting something with it if not careful.

Great addition to any Chevy
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my father as a replacement for another Chevy Bow-tie light-up hitch cover I bought him nearly a decade ago which unfortunately met an early end due to a garage door. He has it on his Avalanche and it works perfectly. It does light up with the brake lights. It uses the 4 prong trailer wiring harness and fits both 1.25 and 2 inch receivers. A great addition to any Chevy, especially if the vehicle is painted in a red or orange paint. I'm considering ordering one for my Impala.

very cool!
My son got this for my new Edge for Christmas and gave it to me a few weeks early. During those few weeks, I loved it and did receive compliments. I will note that the blue is not legal in Nebraska but the cops didn't bug me about it (not to say the won't still). The red brake lights is very bright so no chance the person behind you won't know your braking. The downside, my son (16) was in a crash Christmas eve morning (slide on ice) and my new Ford was totalled. I'm not sure I'll be getting another Ford but hope to find this cool hitch cover a new home. If it holds up over time, it will truly earn the 5 stars.

Big Bang for the Buck!
This Ford-light hitch cover is fantastic, and the low price is incredible. It measures about eight inches long by five inches wide and comes with all the necessities for do-it-yourself installation, such as: an electrical cord with the flat-four plug, different sized cushions for support, adapters to fit a two- or one-and-a-quarter-inch squared hitch. Since my hitch is already set-up, I accomplished the fast and easy installation process in ten minutes flat. Now, while driving after dusk, the rear of my Ford Clubwagon really glows which in-turn turns a lot of heads.

revised feedback
I am revising my original review on this purchase. I never had an issue with the hitch light. The hitch light is great and looks fantastic on my Ford Edge. My complaint was with the postage due that I had to pay. I have to say that the seller was very quick to correct this mistake. I was very impressed with the immediate attention to correct the problem. I would definitely do business with this seller again, knowing that if I ever had another problem it would be dealt with quickly and to my satisfaction.

Customer Service Saves the Day
Bought this product as I needed something to fill out my order to get free shipping. It arrived promptly but didn't work right. The blue lights did not function. One call to Amazon and another one was at my house the next day, I think, or the 2nd day. Customer service was courteous, professional and effective. They even apologized for my inconvenience. I think a company should be judged, not by mistakes but how well they fix the inevitable mistakes. PS-I never know just how much I depend on spell check until I have to write something like this.
