MUST READ - They work well, just need to know where to place them.
OK, I had a cat bring fleas into my home. It was about 1-1/2 weeks later I figured it out. Both cats were fully infested. I have had cats for over 50 years, never had this issue, so let the battle begin. First bomb the house with a product from the hardware store and use flea shampoo on both cats. The shampoo took care of the fleas on them, then a flea treatment for them. I thought that was it, well - my legs were getting bit up to only find out several days later they laid eggs in my shoes and were having lunch while I was working. Over 100 bites on each leg, the bomb failed sadly. Next step - try these, as a professional was a bit steep on price, this was my next option. Bought 2, in less than a day they were filling up. Ordered out a total of 11. 3 in living / dining room, 4 in kitchen / back door, 1 in bathroom and 3 in bedroom. FOUR days now have laps and the kill count was 1594 fleas + 1 ant. I took a picture of each plate and used Photoshop to group and count. I wanted to know exactly how the kill count was going. Replaced the sticky pads and watched again, they filled up slower, but progression. FIVE more days, 1200 more fleas killed. Totaling 3,000 fleas in 10 days now. The traps are still gathering fleas, as of right now I am on day 10 of this trap use. These traps work GREAT! Trial and error. What I have learned - Putting on couch, bed & table had a very low kill count. High traffic areas had the highest kill count. My bedroom captured 11% of them, Living room 25%, Kitchen 55% - leaving 9% in the bathroom. 2 days on the bed killed 2, so keep them low and in higher traffic areas. OVERALL - GREAT Product, works well once you go through the learning curve. Even so - I have plans on bombing the house 3 more times to help kill the eggs that continue to hatch. Not the cheapest method - extra pads add up quickly, ( I needed 11 sets ). As time goes on, I will update this - hope it helps others, this is NOT fun to deal with, good thing I live alone. I'm getting tired of getting dressed outside so I do not spread these buggers - Good Luck!

Save a buck with this DIYer
The trap definitely works but as soon as I opened it up when I figured out that I could have saved myself a few bucks. If you're thinking of buying this do yourself a favor while you're waiting for that sweet sweet Amazon delivery and try this: I took a photo of my dead simple setup which is 100% as effective as this trap. Basically, grab a shallow dish of some sort, a desk lamp and something sticky. I used cooking oil but honey or shampoo would have worked just as well. I would avoid soapy water because my cat drank some of it. He's fine - hasn't burped any bubbles - but why take the risk? With the trap set up in one room I decided to mount an all-out offensive against these critters. So in another room I set down the lamp and two lids with oil. Sure enough, within an hour I was happily tallying my body count. Again, no knocks on the Victor trap. Works as advertised. Just that you can do the same thing for free right now with what you have laying around so why wait?

Put in front of a space heater! (safely)
This product is really good on its own but if you want AMAZING results put this about six to eight inches in front of a space heater. Luckily, our flea problem started in November. I bought two of these traps and set them up. One upstairs, one downstairs. The results were minimal. What got annoying by the second night is the light is so damn bright and the upstairs one was in our bedroom. So on the third night I unplugged the trap but set it in front of the space heater. BAM! The next morning there were 20 fleas in the trap, several of them still wriggling. I kept doing that for both traps and started catching about 20-25 fleas a day for several days. Then there was a huge decrease and it was only a few a day. At the same time, I was combing the animals and vacuuming twice a day. One last shot of Advantage all around and the fleas were gone. I kept the traps in front of the space heaters for the rest of the season just in case but didn't catch anymore which was when I celebrated my victory!

Advice for anyone planning to purchase this device. I a complaint about this product before I bought it, but purchased it anyway because over 30 people loved it. When I first plugged it in and started using it, it only caught one flea in two hours. However, after reading how it works I came up with an idea that I figured MIGHT make it work better. It works by attracting fleas with HEAT. So, I turned on my air conditioner to 65 degrees and bundled up and went to bed. During the next 7 and a half hours it caught almost 30 more fleas! The key to making this device work is to have the environment in the room it is being used in as cold as possible so it's heat is the only heat in the room. In these circumstances, it works FLAWLESSSLY!

These work!
These really do work. I was using the homemade soapy water and light trick but got tired of accidentally spilling the water, so I ordered these. They are so much easier to use than the water. Place a sheet of sticky paper in, keep it plugged in 24/7. Vacuum every so often to stir the fleas up and get them to hatch out. And when your sticky paper gets full you just take it out and put in a new sheet. It's that simple! These helped me figure out which areas were my hot spots. And they've been catching fleas daily now for the past 2 months. If you are trying to use these in a room where your pets also still go then they aren't as effective. Of course the fleas will go after a living thing before they will the trap, so use it in an empty room for best results. I have sprayed and vacuumed over and over and still have fleas hatching out of that last life stage. So be patient, it takes a good 8 weeks or more to get rid of them. An added bonus is that I've also caught spiders and other ugly bugs I didn't even know I had.

Enough Said! It works. Just buy extra sticky pads to replace when yours gets full.

This really works! (But you must follow suggestions)
I noticed that some people aren't seeing results with their flea trapper. Here are some suggestions: As some people have noted, you can see the fleas if you put on white socks and walk around your house. Wherever you see the fleas are where the "hotspots" are. I have found that the hotspots are not necessarily where my pets hang out. It's usually some arbitrary place where the eggs have dropped and hatched. Chances are, if you've treated your pets' bedding/sleeping area (via spraying, powders, or vacuuming) those areas will not be the hotspots. The spot may be a place where you've missed the vaccuuming, so do the sock test first! In my case, it was the area between the bed and drawers that my vaccuum couldn't reach. If the sock test doesn't work, just move the trap around. I had some success dragging the trap around. When I see fleas hop on, I leave it there plugged in in a dark room. These areas are where I have captured the most fleas. If you have a heavy infestation, it is necessary to use the flea trap in conjunction with capstar (or it's generic) plus powder and vaccuuming. The trap alone will NOT resolve a heavy infestation. In the meantime, to prevent getting bitten yourself, spray your legs and ankle with a flea/tick repellent. This way, you remove yet another source of food for the fleas. Now onto the efficacy of the flea trap... This thing works like a charm. It does NOT seem to attract fleas up to 30 feet as advertised. In fact, I would say it works for maybe a 5x5ft area, so make sure you move it around to find a good location. But once you do, you'll be amazed and disgusted by what it will pick up. First night it captured about 15 writhing fleas, both large and small. By the second night, I counted 32. The third night I moved it to an area that I had already treated, so it only picked up two. By the fourth night, I had it moved back to the original location and the count rose well into the 50s. By the 5th night, there were over 70 fleas on the trap. By the 6th night, I counted exactly 101. On the 7th night, there were about 120. On the 8th night, I decided to move it to the aforementioned hotspot (which was about 6 ft away from where I currently had the trap set up) because I had inadvertently performed the sock test and found that area to be far more flea infested. On that night alone, over 50 new fleas hopped into the trap. On the 9th night, the total count climbed to about 200 and I decided to change the sticky sheet because it was starting to get crowded. It is currently still the 9th night. I am about 2 hours into the new sheet, with the flea trap directly on the hotspot, and I've already counted 26 fleas on the new sheet. When it starts to slow down I will move the trap around again. I am also waiting for my generic capstar to arrive in the mail, and I continue to vaccuum daily. I should note that I only plug in the light at night, as I have found the trap to be somewhat ineffective during the day. The first two days I would catch 2-4 fleas during the day, but I decided to only use it at night, since I read from other reviews that the bulb burns out fast. It's been a little over a week and the original bulb is still burning bright for me. This product alone will not rid your house of fleas, but it will help. Every flea caught is one less flea that will reproduce. It also helps you figure out how bad your infestation is (which in my case is much worse than I had previously imagined.) It will also help to mentally empower you, if you have grown frustrated like I have. I also get a strange sense of satisfaction from counting the day's catch, and seeing the wiggling writhing bastards that have pocked my legs and ankles (and butt and stomach and arms) with itchy bites. If you're on the fence about this product, I advise you to read everyone's suggestions here first and try it out. If you follow everyone's advice, it SHOULD work for you. Happy flea hunting!

A Truly Terrifying Product...for Fleas
I bought one of these on Tuesday, it arrived on Wednesday. It worked so well I just ordered six refills and a second unit. I don't have a very serious flea problem, but it was bad enough that I was willing to try a new product. We have very thick carpet in most of our house, and while spraying and vacuuming gets rid of most of them, enough survive to restart the problem a few months later. I chose this one because another reviewer had put a photo of the sticky-pad covered with fleas. I considered it unlikely that someone had just caught a bunch of fleas and then thrown them onto the trap just to make the product look good. Also, it wasn't terribly expensive so, I gave it a shot... It is fascinating and disturbing how this thing works. Fleas from all corners of the room (within 30 feet or so) move close to it and just gather around it like it's some kind of shrine to their glorious Flea-God. Eventually, they hop into the glow, thinking they are going to Fleahalla or wherever flea-warriors go when they die...and that's when they land on the sticky pad. They struggle for a few seconds, but every move buries them deeper in the muck and soon they stop, frozen in pain and panic as the dark curtain of death slowly descends. So, in a way, I guess they were right: jumping into the light WILL take you to Fleahalla, but instead of flea-valkaries you get agonizing death on a big sticky-disc. This product works best in a dark room, where the light is the only source of light and heat available--also, it works better if you and your pets aren't in the room, either. We let it go overnight and in the morning it was choked with fleas. I was going to take a picture of it, but it's just so tragic and disgusting that I don't think I will. Also, the longer you leave it on, the better it works: the fleas do things on their own schedule, so they don't just hop into it all willy-nilly. They wait a while, admire the light, say a prayer to the Flea-God then jump on in. And that's when the dying starts...at least they won't die lonely. This won't kill all the flea, obviously. Some are smarter than the others, I suppose. Flea geniuses and such. But the product doesn't claim to kill all the fleas, just a lot of them. And dead fleas don't lay eggs, so for every dead flea that's like a million eggs that won't be lain or something...I don't know that much about the flea life cycle. Use this product with an effective flea and egg killer spray, like

It definitely works!!!
It's a bad year for fleas here in Texas. I used these as part of a multi-pronged approach. I didn't want to use chemicals (toxic and cancer-causing to the cats and dogs!) so I got the yard spray and the oil that you put on their backs, all natural products from wondercide.com. But the natural approach takes time and meanwhile, the poor babies were miserable with fleas! So I put 2 of these in a small room that had an infestation and here are the results. You can see for yourself that they work! This was over a few weeks but just think, all those fleas would have jumped on a cat or dog! Don't rely on this alone, but as part of your whole flea-eradication system, it can help tremendously.

INSTANT WAR ON FLEAS....
OK, I will admit I was skeptical..... VERY skeptical. In spite of a few good reviews there were some negative ones and I assumed the good ones were.. maybe people with ties to the company. HOWEVER, having he flea infestation from hell (thank you neighbors with the big outdoor dogs) attacking my indoor cats, and having tried literally everything to rid myself of this plague, I bought "the ultimate flea trap"... Day #1. placed it in the hallway on the tile floor by in the entryway... NOTHING, was in the trap although I knew there were lots of fleas to be found. So assuming I had been taken for a ride, I still held out hope and day #2 placed it on top of a small metal try in the middle of the living room carpet away from any other light source. OMG.... more than 20 of the demons in the trap from ONE night with it placed in the right spot. I will be putting it out again tonight and I'm sure with similar result. IT REALLY WORKS!!! Place it away from other light sources and in the middle of where you believe they are lurking. You won't be disappointed with this purchase. Best part is there is no toxic residue or odor. YES IT WORKS!!!!
