Yup, I recommend this without reservation
Do yourself a favor and read about why taking a shower with chlorinated water is unhealthy. Hint, it has to do with more than your skin... (it's breathing in the vapor/steam) This filter works quite well since it effectively removes chlorine and doesn't seem to reduce the water flow by a noticeable amount. OK, the real answer is that I don't notice any reduction in flow rate at all but I have excellent pressure in my home. I have recommended this to several female friends of mine who have all said that their hair and skin seem softer after having installed the filter. Good luck and I hope this information helps you make a well informed decision. UPDATE: Some reviewers state that they are having to replace the filter after two months or so. This is likely due to particulate matter in the water. I don't have one but I have heard many good things about whole house sediment filters, which are rather inexpensive. For those people I would suggest looking into a good sediment filter. Best of luck to you all. Cheers.

A good filter to improve the quality of your skin and hair... and a MUST HAVE for those living in areas with bad/hard water. ..
I live in the southwest U.S. desert, where the water quality is rated absolutely terrible (above 8.0). The chlorine added by the city would sting my eyes terribly. It caused me to break out in huge sores on my chest, neck and face. My hair fell out, along with my self esteem. I tried a cheapo filter made in China first, and that gave out within a couple of months. The Culligan filter was my second purchase, and I like it! It improves the water pressure in my shower and the massage setting feels great! The cartridges are super easy to change out, it takes less than 2 minutes. One thing I will say is... if you live in a place with bad quality water, your filter cartridge may not last the full 6 months. This is stated on the packaging, too. I found that mine lost effectiveness around the 3 month mark. Still, it's a pretty good value for something that helps reduce acne and hair issues caused by a poor quality water supply.

Filter can be recharged.
I originally had a $45 filter that did a great job removing chlorine and hardness from my water, but it clogged up enough after 3 months that the flow was 1/5th what it was without the filter. So, looking at $45 per quarter, I checked out a Culligan filtered shower head. This filter didn't clog, but in one month my hair started getting wirey from the local hard water. (How Culligan can claim 10,000 gal. lifetime, I do not know.) This filter costs about $15, so the price per month seemed to be the same. BUT, the Culligan filter is a resin filter and can be revitalized, as anyone who has a resin softener on their espresso machine knows. Just half-fill a glass that will hold the filter with cold water, dissolve 2-3 teaspoons of salt, and soak the filter for 20-30 minutes. Rinse and it's good as new! This makes the Culligan filter a deal, at least for my water. For those who want to know, the sodium in the salt replaces the minerals that have been removed from the water and stored in the resin. This restores the resin to its original condition, ready to absorb more minerals from your water.

LOVE THIS PRODUCT
Have been using this product several years now. When filter is in need of change it lets u know by allowing dirty water to come thru. Just flip the filter and it cleans itself up until a certain way. Does cut down on sediment and chlorine but my community uses bromine sometimes when they run out of chlorine. (BEWARE H.F.C.A. COMMUNITY MEMBERS) THATS WHY WE STILL MUST BUT BOTTLED WATER. P.S. Bromine is good to use in water tank of toilets. It's the same product as the little blue tablets you see the little man in the boat in the toilet commercial. It doesn't eat your rubber seeks and one tablet purchased by the pool products cost me $20.00 in winter. Last me over a year.

A Must Have For Well Water
We moved to a country house with well water after a lifetime of city water and were none too happy with our new shower water situation. My hair turned bronze and limp, our skin always felt as though we had soap residue on it, mineral deposits quickly built up on the shower tile and oh, the smell...that earthy, slightly eggy smell of well water that omg...better not get into my mouth! I was actually researching brightening shampoos (all my research starts on Amazon) to help remove the brassiness from my hair and a shampoo reviewer was dissing the shampoo while raving about her Culligan Water Filter. Not sure why "water filter for shower" never crossed my brain, but I bought one on the spot. Instant game changer. Our showers are a whole new experience! No funky water smell. My hair is fluffy and blonde again. No weird soap residue on our skin. No mineral deposits on tile. Amazing. The water feels cleaner and fresher than even our previous treated city water. The filter that came with the Culligan lasted us appx 4.5 months before I started noticing it was losing its effectiveness and was time to replace. Family of 2, daily showers at a minimum and a dog that also gets frequent showers. We had hoped to get 6 months out of it, but it is so simple to change and is a fair value for the benefits. Highly recommend buying the Culligan and stocking up on these replacement filters! A must have for well water and will definitely benefit city water, too!

Excellent - help prevents dry/itchy skin from showers
Bought this filter about 6 months ago because of dry and itchy skin. I had read that the chlorine in shower water could be contributor to this - and especially during the winter. Well, for the price of this filter I thought it was worth a try - and within a few weeks, it was easy to see that the filter did make a huge difference. For the price - this is a no brainer (you have to buy the complete housing if you don't already own the filter) Update - I have had this filter about 2 years now and I can say that the cartridges do last about 6 months. I have gone longer but it will slow the flow. You may not notice it because it's gradual but once you put in a new cartridge, the pressure increase will be noticeable. I noted some people indicated it clogs too fast for them - I suspect their water is really bad. I don't consider my water to be great - but it's city water with a lot of chlorine and it's very hard (high mineral content). This filter works fine for that scenario. In all, I have no regrets - this product works and it makes a difference for us. Its not a water softener system but it doesn't cost like one either! I think the benefit to cost on this is great.

City Water Was Burning Our Skin- Much Better Now, Thanks!
Fast shipping, easy installation, and a handy little reminder sticker for your calendar. I spent all of my life using water from a dug well in northern NH, so the city water here in NW PA was quite a shock to my system. My daughter and I have sensitive skin with no known serious allergies- we are pretty tough! But whatever they add to the water here burns our skin to the point where we come out of the shower looking like a freshly-steamed Maine lobster with stinging, bright red skin. I took a bath- just plain tap water- and had to get out after a few minutes because my whole body turned bright red with welts on my legs. The plants were also turning brown at the leaf tips. My doctor suggested that we find a filter for the shower (he did not name a particular brand). I bought the Culligan shower head, and we noticed a big difference after the first week! The soap lather improved (~75% of NH's lather) and our skin was much better! This replacement filter is great.

Keeps over-chlorinated city water from damaging my hair
I live in Tucson, which has the hardest, most over-chlorinated water imaginable. Without this, my hair behaves like I'm a swimmer who doesn't shower after getting out if the poo, and I have to use gobs of argan oil just to keep my hair from being super coarse. Even with the oil, the local water leaves my hair simultaneously dry and dirty-feeling. With this filter in my showerhead, my hair behaves like it would in any other city that doesn't chlorinate their tap water into oblivion.

Finally- Soft hair and skin again!
I would have to say yes, it does help very much with hard water. I have lived in my condo for 5 years. For the first 2 years my hair always felt hard and my skin felt itchy. I ended up going to Puerto Rico and noticed such a huge difference in my hair and skin. I researched and found that the cause was hard water. I read all the reviews here and decided to try it in my condo. After the first shower there was a noticeable difference in my hair and skin. My hair was soft again and my skin felt so soft and smooth! I have been using it for over three years! Not only does it help with these issues, I no longer have hard water stains in my tub. An awesome filter! No need to purchase a whole house water filtration system. All you have to do is purchase this special shower head and then replace every 3 months. The best way to do this is to subscribe and have it automatically sent to you so you don't have to worry about forgetting!
