I have to admit that I really enjoy using this jig set. Right out of the box, and I had a rental house with new six panel doors, just waiting to have door handle plates installed. It was a small job. The only complaint that I have is that it would really be nice to have a second bit set, so that both the knob hole and latch plates could be used without switching out. I remedied that buy purchasing a second jig set. Problem solved. Definitely a must, for the weekend warrior doing carpentry.

Followed the instructions and was easily able to drill the required holes for a new deadbolt in an exterior (wood core) door. Although the jig is plastic, it worked perfectly and did not jump out of place during the drilling. I do suggest adding blue tape (or other low-tack adhesive tape) to the door prior to setting the jig -- to avoid any potential scratches or paint transfer during the drilling process.

Didn’t try it yet but looks like it’s going to work

This worked just fine on a external metal/wood door. Yes the mandrel was very tough to extract the first time when I used the larger saw - I had to spray it with some WD40 to get it loosened. Next time I sprayed WD40 on the threads of the mandrel and the saw first *before* assembling, and then disassembly was easy after that. Remember to keep lined up vertically (use the small spirit level on the power drill) and horizontally (just look and make sure it lines up). Router/template work fine.

This definitely get the job done. As other reviewers stated, it is a bit flimsy, but not so much that it actually affects the performance or function. It will definitely guide your bit to the correct position. If you can't hold the drill straight, this will not be rigid enough to guide it for you, but that's not it's purpose. I'm doing 8 doors in my house and it's a great deal for that. If I was a contractor doing 100's per year, I'd spend more for a better one.

This device is exactly what I was looking for to help me drill the correct set of hole for an Entry Lock Set and a Dead Bolt Lock Set. The dimensional paperwork that comes with various Lock Set purchases you need the "Hubble Telescope" to read the fine print. The seen packaging comes with everything that is needed for success to help install Lock Sets. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Chalk this up to a noobie mistake, having never cut for a deadbolt before, but make sure that you stop cutting into the door face as soon as the drill bit pokes through the other side. Pull the drill and saw out and go at it from the other side at that point. I made the mistake of not following that advice (I think it is even in the directions) and ended up splintering the face of my door a bit. Lesson learned. Also, make sure you do your best to keep your drill as straight as possible so you don't cut at an angle. The jig is only plastic so it will flex a tad and if you go in crooked, you can chew up the jig when you come out the other side.

does the job easy to use priced right

I'm not sure how long this will last, but it worked perfectly for the first door! Seems ready for the next one (whenever that will be).

I used the IRWIN Tools Bi-Metal Door Lock Installation Kit to install the Schlage B60N505 Deadbolt lock, that I purchased at the same time, in a metal door. My first time doing such an installation. After going over the instructions carefully, the installation went off without hitch. The product worked as described and would highly recommend it to anyone planning on installing a lock and/or door knob assembly.
