Good ol' reliable 592
There are several similar thread pastes made by Loctite/Permatex (the Henkel parent company). They are 565, 567, and this one, 592. They all work very well, with variations in cure time and bonding strength. 592 is the easiest to source. Comparing 592 to "typical" thread pastes with PTFE (Teflon, or the generic equivalent) reveals that this stuff works much better. This stuff has a "hardening" ingredient which takes a little while to completely cure that most thread pastes do not have. Until it cures, the fitting can be moved for perfect positioning without destroying the thread seal. Once cured, (about 4 hours for this product) the threads are absolutely sealed until you remove the fitting or plug. Removal is fairly easy, since this acts as a thread lubricant/anti seize/anti-gall. Wonderful stuff, and used by major manufacturers such as GM to seal pipe thread fittings on motor vehicles.

Goodbye Teflon tape!
Say goodbye to Teflon tape! I quit using Teflon tape years ago after finding this. Just a little amount will do ya, so don't go overboard. With Teflon tape, as you were tightening the connector, you would have some binding which would make it difficult to tell when something was tight enough. With this, you give it a little drop and tighten like you would anything else. The cure time seems to be pretty good as well. I tend to not follow directions to the T and have used an air system after only a few minutes of applying this and haven't had an issue. The temperature range for this stuff is -65°F to 400°F. Will definitely get more of this once I run out!

Works great
I always use this stuff whenever I change water pumps, especially if it's one that uses an o-ring because I've seen coolant leak through the threads if this stuff wasn't used. A couple dollars to save a huge headache and the hassle of having to redo it is definitely worth it.

Great Quanity, price & product .Crosses to GM 12346004
Excellent typical Permatex Quality you always get. The Auto store sells a tiny tube for 6.50, this large tube covered about 23 oil pan bolts and 10 timing cover bolts and still have lots left for next project for just a bit more than the small tube which will likely run out before 10-12 bolts. Crosses to GM 12346004, see permatex site they have mfg cross reference chart, which is another reason I love'em. This stuff has a very sweet smell, so be careful of any drippings your pets or wild animals may encounter, or ESPECIALLY YOUNG CHILDREN

and I use it pretty quick, so I bought the big one
I have always had the tiny little bottles of this thread sealant in my garage, but this big one was hardly more, and I use it pretty quick, so I bought the big one. It comes in handy in many places, car engines, the drain plug on our 2 Briggs and Stratton mowers, the drain plug on the small air compressor (I used to use this, now I use a Toyota crush washer, perfect fit!). If you like to tinker in the garage like I do, this stuff will come in handy at some point. It seals threads to keep liquid in or out, it's kind of like a much better teflon thread tape. Works and OK shelf life
I am a basic DIY type person, so I need items like thread sealant only a couple of times a year. I have successfully used this high temp thread sealant on oil pan drain plugs, rear differential plugs, and on Ford AWD power transfer unit plugs. I just follow the instructions and I have not had leaks. Once opened I keep the tube in a baggy in my unheated garage exposed to 4 seasons of weather. The opened tube remains workable for over a year although I do have to knead the tube restore uniform consistency. For me a good value.

Not for Plastic
I gave this a 5 star as I could not use it.It seems to be a good value for the money and easy to use. I purchased it for plastic and did not know until I received product which stated not to use on plastic. Teflon tape is tricky to use so thought I'd give this a try. Had to return; wished I could of used it.

Great stuff
This stuff is excellent. I use it for nearly every marine or outdoor nut/bolt connection. It prevents corrosion or oxidation typical of stainless and aluminum connections (think outboard motor). It also acts just slightly as a loctite. Not nearly as much as blue, but enough that the bolts don’t back out from vibration. Just a touch of sticky. I even use it for ATV bolts, etc. I use it in places where antiseize shouldn’t be used so the nut or bolt doesn’t work itself loose.

Doing Your Own Fluid Changes? You're In The Right Place
Before replacing the drain blots on my Road Glide, I clean up the threads, replace the o-ring, then fill the threads with this before reinstalling the drain bolts and torqueing to spec. Not one drop/leak EVER ( unlike my old shovel which piddled everywhere), and it's easy enough to remove the bolts when it's time to change the fluids again.

great stuff
I used this on my front and rear differential drain plugs also when I installed a oil cooler on the jeep to keep the fittings from leaking better than Teflon tape like the heat range also of 400 degrees and the rust protection better than Anti seize so you can take it apart
