This zippo lighter is so cool. I absolutely love the matte black zippo with no logo for its plain but classy design. You’ll need to buy lighter fluid before you could use it, but I’ve had the same jug of lighter fluid that I bought for $5.00 from rite aid for over a year, and it’s still half full. But be warned: your friends will steal it. lol this is my fourth matte black zippo lighter, and somehow, each time one of my last three turned out missing, another one of my friends will turn up with another one looking just like it, conveniently upon that friend having last used it while smoking outside a bar with me. Mhhhhmmm. So just don’t go out drinking with your friends and your zippo will be perfectly fine. Haha

I purchased 6 of these as groomsmen gifts. They arrived in separate small tin boxes with plastic inserts which was nice because the boxes were nice enough that i did not have to change it over to a different packaging to give to my groomsmen. The build is solid and feels sturdy in the hand. The lighter of course does what its supposed to and makes fire. The matte black finish I think is pretty sleek and my groomsmen loved it too. I would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a nice zippo-style lighter who doesnt want to spend the zippo price.

I've never had a Zippo, nor do I smoke. I got this for a reason of being able to make fire at a moments notice. I carry this in my pocket and forget about it, so it's not as if I'm using it daily. However, the quality is definitely up to American standards. It has that satisfying click of opening and closing the lid. That satisfying spark and ignition of the flame, then closing the lid to get rid of it. Ah, yes. Fluid does not ship with this, it comes dry, which of course, seems logical. I used just standard yellow container lighter fluid, Ron.. something. Works fantastically. So, even if you're not a smoker, it's still a good option to carry a lighter with you in the event of needing fire. Never know. Maybe that's what I tell myself and my friends might be right of being an arsonist. Any who, Zippo or a Bic lighter? Zip.

If you've seen those photos of an albatross corpse with a Bic lighter in its belly, you might be thinking about something more environmentally friendly. Of course that's not the only reason to buy a Zippo. It's a quality product. I didn't own one as a smoker, but I own one now, and I love it. It's realiable. In case you're wondering: - A zippo holds about 1/2 oz of fluid at a time. - If you accidentally overfill, fear not, you can let it air out outside. It evaporates very quickly, as you will soon learn. - Let youtube be your guide. More fun than printed instructions. - The two digits on the bottom of the lighter refer to the year; the letter is a code for the month, e.g. J = 10th letter = October. Yes, there are electronic lighters now, and they're cool, but the noise sounds like a Zika-infected mosquito in your ear. My one complaint about traditional lighters is the smell of the fluid, but I'm used to it. I even like it. Enjoy your Zippo.

I bought this for nostalgic reasons... I came across this by accident and I went ahead and bought one; the last one I owned was decades ago. It's very nicely made and works great. I watched that video on YT on how to properly use and fill a new Zippo; I didn't want to make any mistakes since it has been so long! So, I took it apart and then extended the wick before filling it. After the first fill, about 3 days later, I had to refill it. I thought I was doing something wrong. I couldn't find anything about it online, so I just filled it again. Now it takes about 3 weeks per refill. Even if it still lights, I refill it when the flame is getting low. Just FYI: I use this several times a day. I love the smell of these things and will even open it just to take a sniff! C'mon, I can't be the only one who does that!?!? I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a reliable Zippo.... The only thing I wish was better is that it took longer to arrive than I was hoping for. But it is what it is. Great Zippo!

Very satisfying click noise on open/shut, however, not exactly desirable at night with others sleeping. It feels like it would fall out of my hand while opened and lit, but I can't seem to make it fall, so seems safe enough, just awkward at first. Changing flints was easy enough, I got too liberal with dispensing the wick and had to replace it already. Otherwise, holds up fine, stays lit in wind (not that you can light anything with the flame you get), and feels nice to have a real classical lighter. Also, I did NOT know that the inside of the lid can catch fire too, that was a fun discovery.

Case feels a little cheaper than ones I've used before but at this price point; ya can't complain. Just remember; the lighters do not/can not ship with fluid on them. You will need to buy it separately. To fill it up, open the lighter case; grab the lighter itself and pull it out of the case, look at the bottom of the lighter, there should be a cotton type pad held on by a screw, using a paper clip or something similar...you peel that back to reveal the white packin. Inside the lighter, saturate it with the fluid. Put the felt pad back, and place it all back into the case. Done.

Whether collecting or using them, Zippo lighters are great. They are extremely collectible, hold their value well and the company is a USA company, one of the few left. Their warranty or guarantee is almost unmatched. If I'm not mistaken, Zippo and Case pocketknives are both owned by the same parent company and both have the reputation of true customer satisfaction. I know a woman that has a whole room filled with Zippo lighters and display cases. She owns so many that Zippo has invited her on multiple occasions to come tour the plant. They are a true value and always work well. Break it, they will fix it.

I've owned a couple Zippo lighters over the years. So far, I've never had to throw one away because it stopped working. I generally either lose them or leave them places on accident. Thankfully, at this price, it isn't too much of a problem to just buy a new one every 3 years or so. This matte black lighter is no exception. Build quality on these continues to impress me. The finish is smooth and even, resistant to scuffs and scratches, and definitely looks much classier than your standard disposable lighter. I've never run into a bad authentic Zippo myself, and have heard very rarely about others having faulty products (which the company is great about repairing/replacing). I never go camping or hiking without my Zippo! Pros: - Nice matte finish. It'll stand up to scuffs and scratches, and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. - Overall build quality is phenomenal. The hinge, reservoir, case, and everything else on my lighter are without flaw. - Made in the USA by a company that proudly backs it's product. - Cheaper here than you'd find at most tobacco shops or specialty stores. Cons: - Drop this in the grass or dirt at night and you may have some trouble finding it again if it wasn't lit. And a couple words of note after reading other reviews on here. 1. Be aware that this (and any other Zippo) will be shipped WITHOUT any lighter fluid. This is not an Amazon thing or a USPS thing. These lighters are shipped from the manufacturer without fluid in them. If you go to a tobacco shop to buy this same lighter (at 50% markup or more), it will also come without fluid. Sometimes, the clerk will fill it up out of courtesy. But getting the Zippo-branded lighter fluid is cheap and easy. A small 4oz. can should last you for quite a long time. 2. Expect the fluid to run out quickly the first few times you fill it up. I'm only speculating, but I think this is likely due to the material in the reservoir as well as in the wick taking a bit to thoroughly absorb the fluid. Mine usually run out within the first couple days on the first fill-up, then about a week on the secon fill-up. After that, filling the reservoir will have you set for quite awhile. The same 4oz. can mentioned above should get you through several months if you're a regular smoker, and potentially years if you only use the lighter on occasion.
