Come on, who brought comics and magic to the sewing world?!?!? So here I am a mild-mannered sewer ready to make weighted blankets for my kids, when someone suggested I get this kit. Well my friends, riddle me amazed! I lay the fabric down and with little pressure I cut through that fabric as straight and easy as batman through a crowd of villains! BUT wait, then to my surprise the bottom board SELF healed!! I mean sure the product description says it will, but who really believes that. I think Mr. Potter put some enchantment, I did not even have to say "RepairO" for the board to repair. Don't delay, order today! It is really amazing even if you did not get all the pop culture references above.

I have to say I wish I bought this sooner! This cutting set is a MUST for any crafter/quilter. I don't work as often with fabrics, but I use this very often to cut vinyl and cardstock. I did buy a second blade as I didn't want to use the same blade to cut paper and fabric. I do use the same blade for paper and vinyl. I have been using it for over 6 months and everything has held up exceptionally well. My blades are still sharp. The large straight edge ruler makes my cuts much more precise which means not only am I measuring (rather than eyeing up) more often but I am also wasting less material. It's a win-win. I couldn't say enough good things about it if I tried, it's an absolute must have for any crafter!

Came as expected! I trust Fiskars brand and they didn't fail to deliver. Got this because I'm new to sewing and needed a rotary cutter, the self-healing mat and clear ruler were just the icing on the cake! Good value, and cheaper than the retail prices for packs at craft stores like Joann's.

This is amazing! I don't know what I was thinking trying to do quilting and general sewing projects without this tool set! It makes cutting angles a breeze, straight lines are actually straight (and square!), and everything is so fast, plus I'm not blowing through marking pencils. Using the ruler with ease took a bit of practice, but I had plenty of projects to try it out on, and the first couple times I used the rotary blade I skewed away from the ruler, leaving a curve instead of a straight cut. With practice I mastered it, and found holding the tool blade-side against the ruler worked better than handle-side towards the ruler. If you plan on doing a lot of sewing and quilting you must get this set. It will save so much time and headaches.

Just received. The mat is double-sided (gray on one side, white on the other), with measurement lines on both sides. Rotary cutter worked great on thin suede pieces. No marks on the cutting mat. I hope I can change the blade with a titanium one later. I think that pressing down too hard with the cutter may accelerate damage to the mat, so I'll only use a sharp blade. The ruler is great. Measuring and cutting the fabric was the most tedious part of my sewing projects, but this cutting set removes the tedium! Thanks to Fiskars. A sturdy, well-thought out cutting set. Update September 2, 2017: Just used the set to cut very thick leather with layers of suede backing (from an old leather purse I'm recycling). I had to run the blade over the material several times, but no problems. Update January 21, 2018: Used the set to separate the pages of a thick book, so that I can comb-bind the book. Worked perfectly! I thought I might damage the blade because the book is so thick, and I had to cut through the spine, but no problems! The mat was indispensable.

The only thing I can say is... Why didn't I invest in this sooner? Great product Fiskars, I love that it's got three essential tools in one! I put off buying these products for a long time because I was just dabbling with different project ideas. I didn't want to put a lot of money into something I didn't know if I'd be any good at. I have a sewing machine, but I don't sew a ton, but I love to once in a while. I love making occasional projects and crafts, hairbows, gifts, too. This set is INCREDIBLE. I am so happy with it and it makes everything SO much easier! I've cut paper and cardboard, ribbons, fabric. And I've only had it for less than a week now!!! It's so much quicker to measure, mark, cut, etc. I'm CERTAIN I'll be doing SO much more crafting now that I've got this set! I'm extremely happy, and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It makes everything SO much easier! Can't wait to see all the awesome things I can do now that I have this set!!!

I waited until I had used this a good deal before writing the review. Thus far it has been roughly 11 months and I have sewn a lot of clothing items, used it to cut excess fabric from random things. Every time I go to store it I end up pulling it out within a day or so to use it. The blade is still sharp enough, and do be careful! After 8 months of use I was cutting velvet to make stockings and ran the blade into my hand, it was still sharp enough to slice right through my skin! On that note, the little switch is perfectly placed and the blade guard works beautifully so there is no risk of cutting yourself or anything else on accident. I have one tiny qualm though. I decided to use the self healing mat with an exacto knife and card stock to cut out a stencil. And the mat got sliced pretty badly and in that particular corner it is still a tiny bit mucked up. I was using a lot of pressure to try and precisely cut my design, so that was probably a factor. The good thing is there are two sides so I still have full use of the opposite side of it. And the mat completely "healed" itself from any cuts made with the rotary cutter. Long story short, I can't believe I didn't buy this sooner with how often I sew. It has made life so so soo much easier!

I am not a crafty person, but a rotary cutter is the best for cutting latex for slingshot bands. I did not pay enough attention to the size and was surprised by the 2'x1.5' size. Oh well, I have room for HUGE bands. The mat provides a good backing for the cutter and the blade included is sharp. It sliced through latex and thin leather with ease. The acrylic ruler provides a good shoulder to guide the cutter for a straight cut. Fiskars delivers good quality again. Would recommend.

Bought this as my first rotary cutting set and I love it. It's very easy to use (although I'll admit it took me about 30 seconds to figure out you had to push the lever on the rotary down to expose the blades) and sharp too. I got sloppy towards the end of my first sewing project because I was tired and went to hand cut a piece of fabric with the rotary. I firmly pushed down on the rotary against the fabric and slide it up... right into the palm of my left hand. Yep, there was a sharp pain followed by me saying "please don't bleed, please don't bleed, please don't bleed" then blood streamed out. So if you wondered if the blades were sharp, then yes. Yes they are, haha.

So, for years I have made a baby quilt every time there was a new little one in the family. I do fairly simple designs but always try to tell a story. I always cut guides from card board to measure shapes and cut them with scissors. As you may imagine it took considerable time. I saw one of these cutting systems in a fabric store but the price was up there. I've recently been ordering from amazon, we live in the middle of national forest and the nearest stop light is 70 miles away. So shopping is a day trip. Anyhow, I decided that this might really help me and the price was much better on amazon. I was willing to take a chance, I ordered it and made a quilt for my new grand baby that is arriving in May. The design I used needed very exacting cuts, I expected it to take me a month just to get the top done let alone put it together. Start to finish it took me 5 days, about 25 hours. Being that I'm self taught I imagine others could have done it faster but I was very please with the quality I could turn out because of my more exact cuts. It made it much easier on my back as well, not as many hours spent bent over to cut. Then I had intended to store it flat in it's box under my bed, but my husband accidentally took the whole thing to the dump, I liked it so much I ordered it again. So truly it was worth twice the price to me.
