We needed a new wheel as I broke a prong on ours while cleaning it. For just a few dollars more, I saw this kit so decided to get it. Our hamster, Finn, squeezes his fat butt into the tiny little nest box and loves it! It snaps open for cleaning or access to your hamster, although I wouldn't recommend doing that. Hamsters like to know their space is safe so we don't let ours know it opens. The circular tube is just a great extra. Finn always runs around it as part of his evening routine. He loves going up there to nib around. The wheel is great as it's enclosed so larger hamsters won't fall out when they're trying to run. It was for this reason that I bought a cage with one like this to begin with. I smear a bit of Vaseline on the inside of the center spoke (not accessible by hamster) to keep it silent when in use.

Very nice items to add to a habitat

I got these items a few months ago to add to my hamster cage all of them have worked out good but some of the items are better than others. A summary is below. Wheel: This is my favorite item. The wheel is outside of the cage so it does not take up any space in the cage. It can either attach to the outside of a cage or a end of a tube (both habit trail or critter trail tubes will work), it is my dwarf hamsters favorite wheel, it will run on it for hours every night. It is also silent if cooking oil is put on the axle for lubrication. Like any wheel it requires cleaning a few times a week, but it is easy to do. Outhouse: Also a very good item that can be used as a outhouse, den or dust bath, my hamster likes it a lot, and it is easy to clean. Circular tube: This item is OK, this item is not as good as the others because it can snap apart. This can be minimized if there are tubes both above and below it to help keep it together. This can be a good item but it must be used carefully because it can come apart, or cause the tubes to be too lopsided and tip over if they are not supported.

Our favorite hamster accessory by a mile

We love, love, love this accessory, and so does the hamster. The wheel is very quiet compared to others we've used and despite the wonky product picture, it does come with an expansion port opening. We already had extra tubing, so we broke this into two separate activity areas. We use the green lookout on one side with different tubing, and we have the wheel attached below the purple lookout where the green one is pictured. The hamster loves all of them and uses them constantly. The wheel allows debris to fall down and collect in a little ledge, so it's easy to clean up. Washing all these components is pretty simple. We place a little bedding in both of the lookouts to keep them fresh in between washings, and our hamster actually uses both of them to sleep instead of burrowing in the cage below. He spends hours running between the two lookouts and the wheel. Fantastic purchase and SO much less expensive on Amazon than at a pet store.

Perfect for tubby hamsters

My fat hamster loves this! I felt terrible because we had bought him a small starter cage. The poor guy would gnaw on the cage all night bored out of his mind. The ball we got for him to run around in wasn't enough. Decided to purchase this. He hasn't chewed on the cage at all and absolutely loves the big wheel. He pees while he's running in it though. Everything went together nicely! The wheel is much bigger than the one that originally came with the cage, and he can actually run in this one. I never saw him use the old wheel so I wasn't sure if he even knew how. Guess it was just too small.

Awesome beginner add-on!

Our Lil Nick loved it! We've been wanting to expand his home for a while & this kit was great. Everything feels very sturdy & like it'll hold together well except where it connects to the actual cage. It doesn't feel like it'll disconnect or fall off but it is a little wobbly because the loop-de-loop makes it top heavy but we reinforced it pretty easily. Once you connect the plastic O rings, it takes a lot to remove it so it definitely holds together very well. We're looking forward to getting more & really expanding his home! I love how this brand has so many different customization options! Definitely getting more!

Awesome cage add-on

Easy to follow instructions. After installation it wasnt secured in the hole, it was wobbly and kept falling to the side. To fix this problem I wedged a piece of cardboard between the tube and the hole where you insert it and it fixed it. My hamster loves the wheel and hanging out in the sky tube. Wheel is my favorite part because it saves on space and it still quiet.

Great Kit and addition to my Hamster's cage, cheaper than Petsmart

Ever since I saw this at a Petsmart (for about 10 dollars more), I always knew that my little hamster "bean" would own it one day. He already runs around insane, and now he has a high viewpoint to stop and see the world. I already had a wheel for him, but the wheel itself is sturdy enough in case you did not. The tubing comes apart with some effort in order to clean it, which is a plus for me because it is very important for me to be able to clean any extensions or additions to my hamster's cage. Worth five stars, especially for the Amazon price, great addition to any cage.

Great for my Robo Dwarf Hamster

I bought this for my robo dwarf hamster. It took about a day for her to explore it. I put a little bit of bedding in the outhouse and she uses it as her bed. I like the wheel because it is outside of the cage, but I also still left the old wheel inside her cage. She uses both wheels to pee in, so I am going to buy a seperate outhouse with the litter in it and see if she will switch. (LOVE THAT YOU CAN KEEP ADDING TO IT) The pieces went well together, but the way I set it up it was a little wobbly so I just placed a folded up pillow case to hold it in place. The wheel did not have that problem, it hooked on fine and did not have to use anything to hold it up. The part that was wobbly was only wobbly because of the way I hooked it up on top, so it was top heavy. all in all it is a nice product and the wheel is bigger than I had expected.

A good accessory activity kit.

This is a good set. It was easy to add on to our hamster's cage. Personally I don't like these types of connectors, but that's all I could find when shopping for a hamster cage. We used different configurations of these pieces with no problems. The wheel can get pretty noisy, especially when the hamster's fur gets trapped. Every couple weeks we need to add some vegetable oil to it so it will spin smoothly again. No biggie, it is a moving part that gets a lot of use. I'd buy it again if I had the need.

Excellent accessories for a great price!

All of the accessories in this kit could be bought separately, but at a much higher price, making this kit a great deal. The wheel is excellent, it is relatively quite and large enough for my gerbils to run in it without arching their backs. The outhouse is great. I use it for a sand bath. My gerbils manage to get the sand all through the tubes connected to it, but that was expected. The loop is quite roomy, my gerbils like to scamper around it a couple times. Overall, I love this kit and would definitely purchase again for my next cage.
