Great Product! BUT....
Does everything it is supposed to do, but I found the exact same item at Walmart for $1.88. My loss.

Oak, a smooth smoky flavor.
Our area does not have oak chips in the grocery store. Somewhere near Knoxville TN and North Carolina border there was a sign, THE WORLDS BEST RIBS. So I stopped there and they were super! ! ! I asked the cook, whose name was the same as the restaurant. "What do you smoke with"... the answer was" half hickory and half oak" ( I live in Memphis, maybe the best BBQ in the country ) Oak and Hickory together give a nice gently two note smoky flavor.

Reliable brand of a favorite smoke wood
It used to be that outdoor grillers used mostly hickory. Then we started trying various woods for different flavors. Today we have a variety of smoke woods available, either from local stores, online or from your own tree trimmings. Today, in addition to traditional hickory, I use red oak, pecan, cherry and apple mostly--sometimes a mix of several woods. I've begun to use apple wood more and more for almost everything I grill and smoke. It adds a light smoke flavor that doesn't overpower the food and it goes well with everything I've tried. I like chunks with charcoal and chips in a smoker box with gas. But I'm fine with chips tossed on the charcoal as well. I no longer soak smoke wood since it doesn't seem to make much difference. The Western brand of smoke woods is a reliable brand. I find it available locally almost all the time in small bags like these on Amazon as well as large sacks in specialty stores or outdoor cooking sections of variety stores. It's good stuff. Buy it where you get it the cheapest.

Real Hickory Wood - Not "Hickory flavored" hardwood.
These smoking chips are excellent! This is one of four different kinds of wood I purchased from Western Premium BBQ Products. All of them have been amazing, although Hickory is still my favorite. This product is the real deal, and the flavor proves it! Beware of cheap brands!!! Cheaper brands use cheaper hardwoods and simply flavor the wood with Hickory (or other) oil. This never works right, because the true flavor comes from the thermal breakdown of the various lignins that make up each kind of wood. Simply adding an oil doesn't do the trick. I'm using all of these in my Smoke Hollow 26142E 26-Inch Electric Smoker, and the results are finger-lickin' good!

Switching and sticking with this brand.
Though I prefer my Weber Smokey Mountain when it's hot out I use my gas grill. After trying several companies this is the brand I'm switching to for smoking on a 3-burner gas grill. Instructions state not to soak so today I didn't. Have tossed all my smoker boxes and now buy those 3/.99 loaf pans from the grocery store, cut a few holes in the bottom with the tip of my scissors, fill it with chips and place it uncovered in the back right on top of the flavor bars. Put that section on high and within five minutes or so the smoke starts. Leave it on high till the chips flare (which they probably will) and use a spray bottle to put the flare out. Put the butt on the either non-heated or very low heat sections and turn down the back burner. I take another small tray with chips and place it on the back section, right on top of the grate. This won't smoke by itself since you've turned the heat in the back down to control the overall temp. However, after ten minutes or so these chips are so dry that if you toss one or two kitchen matches on top they'll immediately ignite. As advertised, chips are easy to start (they're already kiln dried) and will smoke for 20-30 minutes. When you add in the second tray you get 45 minutes or so which experts say when done at the beginning of the smoke is more than enough. The trays are reusable so the cost is very low and for me they work much better that my smoker boxes. Hope this helps anyone trying to smoke on a gas grill.

Great chips saves you $
Very good quality wood chips we soak then about 30.min. or so in cool water we think this helps to release the most flavor. Remember a little goes a long way. Super great smoke flavor to the food your smoking. No bitter taste. These wood chips are a great value.

These chips work perfectly in my Oster smoker roaster oven and for a Masterbuilt smoker.
I have used these chip with a Oster Smoker Roaster Oven, 16-Quart, Red Smoke (CKSTROSMK18) and also in my Masterbuilt 20070411 30-Inch Top Controller Electric Smoker with Window and RF Controllerin combination with the cherry chips of the same brand for smoking a whole chicken.and pork roasts The results were nothing less than amazing. These are very small chips that would not be suitable for a smoker that requires chunks. For the smoker mentioned, they are perfect. The chips are not all 1" x 1" as advertised, but most of them work in the Oster smoker, although some need to be broken smaller. In the Masterbuilt smoker they are all perfect in size. It is very convenient that these chips may be used in both smokers. These chips produce a good amount of smoke, and are reduced to ashes in both smokers. I will continue to buy these chips for both of my smokers.

Start and end here
I received an electric smoker as a gift. I probably would have gotten myself a pellet if I'd purchased for myself but once I got this smoker, I had to use wood chips. Before I started smoking I did research on brands. Western was highly recommended by numerous sources and mainly because of the quality of the wood sources. It was the first I tried and Hickory was the first type. It did not disappoint. I've now got Alder, Mesquite, Applewood, Maple, Pecan, and Cherry wood stocked, all from Western, but Hickory is the one that I need to keep restocking. I use a little Hickory even when I use the others and it's the only wood I use alone. I highly recommend Western's Hickory Smoking Chips. High quality, versatile, loved by hardcore smoker enthusiasts, and enjoyed by those who typically like heavily smoked foods. When you have friends over, it will likely be Hickory chips you'll use.

A great flavor!
I purchased these as a gift for my brother. He recently got himself a name brand ceramic cooker. I had done some research on the proper wood to use for these grills and all of the information I could find came back mixed. Some people highly recommend using chips over blocks and vice versa. I purchased these mainly because I hadn't heard of PEACH smoking chips before. He has not been disappointed! I've enjoyed the smoked meats too.

Full flavor hickory chips.
I bought these hickory chips to use with my new Masterbuilt smoker that was ordered from Amazon. It was a guess as to the flavor since I was a relative "Newbie" to smoking meats and started with these to try. I will say that these ships provide plenty of smoke and lots of flavor - maybe a little more than we wanted as my clothes and I smelled smoky for a couple of days after using them. My next attempt used pecan wood chips from our front yard tree and they provided a much milder flavor. These will be used again, but maybe with less smoking time. The bag of chips will provide hours of dense smoke, enough for many sessions.
