This stuff was a life saver. My exhaust pipe has 2 cracks in it at joints. I followed the instructions, brushed with the wire brush and wet it with some water then applied the stuff and let it sit for 30 minutes, and then let the car run for 10 minutes. Instantly, I could tell there was major improvement . I ordered another tube to put on another layer to make sure I sealed any remaining holes in the fix. This time I turned the car on and listened around for the leak. Found where it was leaking and directly applied the sealeant until I had sealed it all. Let it set again, ran the car 10 minutes for the final setting and then done!! 1.5 tubes (about $11 in all) has transformed my car from sounding like a machine gun to quiet as a mouse. Love this stuff. Will definitely buy again if this one wears off.

Make sure you squeeze tube to mix. I had a hole in my exhaust and this worked great. I wet the area where I was applying, took aluminum foil, put a car jack under the exhaust and put the sealer on the hole and applied to pressure with the car jack. Let it sit for an hour and then turned on the car and let it run for another 40 min. Lowered the jack to remove the aluminum foil and it was nice and set.

I used this to seal all the joints on my fully welded exhaust. I had 12 joints in total. I could feel air blowing out, and hear the ticking from the leaking welds. I put this stuff on with an acid brush and let it set up. 30 minutes later, not a single leak from any weld. I even used this at the collector cup seal on the headers.

Worked very well. Saved me money to pass inspection. Excellent product! This is an update on my previous review. My repair is still going strong since April. I used it on my catalytic converter. My check engine light was on as I had an exhaust leak. Used the Permatex to fix the leak after resetting check engine light. I had to fix it in order to pass inspection. Product works great. *** This is an update to kast years review. Well it’s been almost a year and the fix is still holding and I couldn’t be more happy with this product. It was a quick fix that has lasted and I can say that being sceptical at first, this stuff is great. Thanks Permatex for a great product and I highly recommend it.

I have to say I was hesitant on whether this was gonna work to patch a small exhaust leak I had before I could make it to the muffler shop and after I applied it to a couple spots that needed it following the directions and then let it dry over night. To my surprise it dried really hard and no leak was felt in the area applied. If this holds up it may save me some money and buy me more time before visiting my muffler shop. I guess time will tell but as of now its doing it's job and I am pleased.

Used several types of Permatex for a crack in my truck manifold most worked for only a week up to a month then back to square one, But this Permatex Brand after several months still working no sign of the leak coming back, Great stuff

I followed directions and installed this on the new exhaust I installed last week. It is a great product. It dries in less than an hour when you run the exhaust, so set-up well in order to apply it as needed without it curing on you. I wanted to apply it and then run the exhaust for leaks. It worked great and now I have a quiet ride which the Mrs. likes a whole lot.

I used this to patch some bad flange connections, which had some big gaps, and it sealed very well. You have to be careful to follow instructions, and wait appropriate drying times. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I won't be able to give it a long term test, because shortly after I made the repairs, I went and had the bad sections professionally replaced/welded, because there were some parts, like the flex pipe, that were beyond patchable. If I had to make a patchable repair in the future, I would use this again.

This was purchased for my daughter. Her exhaust system is all rusted out, particularly on the top part of the resonator. Occasionally a rust spot will give out and leave her with an inch-wide hole and a very noisy car. Luckily for her, this sealer can cover up some pretty big holes. Only thing is it might take several applications to bridge the gap over a large hole. Usually what she’ll do is apply a bit around the edges of the hole, wait 30 minutes, run the car for 10 minutes, wait another 30 minutes for the car to cool off, then repeat the process. For a particularly big hole it may take doing this 3-4 times. But she says if you’re patient, you’ll eventually get it sealed. There’s enough in the tube to fill maybe two or three big holes (and by big she means an inch wide). You can also use this to seal up any rusty joints. It can’t perform miracles, but it did buy her at least 6 months before her exhaust system was beyond patching up.

Stuff worked great for my application. I had about an 1/4” x 1.5” crack/ rusted out area in my exhaust pipe. It in right next to where piece of heat shielding attached so it was easier to fill, but it would of worked if it was just a 1/4 crack anywhere. Applied as directed and worked great, amazing in fact. It’s only been a week, so idk how long it will hold. The pictures show prior, right after application and fully cured. It smooths out nice too. Still for a lot left in the tube.
