Pump went on nice and easy. Take your time, watch some you tube videos to get an idea of the installation process. The thermostat gasket comes included but not installed so make sure to install the thermo gasket before installing the water pump. I used a thin layer of blue gasket maker as well for good measure. Cooling system must be bleed of air after installing. All in all it took me 3 hours from start to finish. Not too shabby if I say so myself.. Note: Much easier if I had a fan clutch remover. Change the belts, tensioner and idle pulley since your there already. GOT ER DONE and saved Alot of $$$$.

My dad is a life-long mechanic, and said Gates was the brand of choice. Almost half the price of my local parts store! Fits my truck perfectly! Everything seems to be running again as it should. I also purchased Gates hoses and changed those out during the install. Also high quality! Will update if issues arise..

Replaced my original 230,000 mile pump off of a 2004 Silverado 1500 VIN "T" 5.3 LS. Initial install along with AC delco fan clutch went flawlessly. About two weeks later I noticed a leak at the thermostat housing which was pre assembled by Gates at the factory. I removed the pump and found one of the threads on the mounting boss for thermostat housing to be stripped! Used a heli coil kit and fixed this issue permanently. Also used permatex water pump sealant on the flange. If you buy one of these pumps, just make sure you address this well known issue. Otherwise a very high quality product. Its silent and leak free!

Everything worked as advertised. I used the factory bolts in the thermostat housing and torqued them to factory specs. They where longer by about 5 or so threads. The gasket was on the thermostat correctly out of the box. I did check it. Everything else went fine. I’m glad I ordered everything as a kit. The original thermostat housing was badly corroded and needed to be replaced. I was worried that it was more cheap China crap. So far no problems. It’s been on a month or so. Hell all the ACDELCO crap is made in Mexico which is better. I do however have less problems with OEM parts over my many years.

04 Silverado 5.3V8,140k miles Fairly easy install, I was not in a rush. Watched a couple youtube videos and save hundreds of dollars. I did replace the idler pully and drive belt when I was in there too. Shop wanted $550 to install. It's been running a week or so with no problems. Hindsight is 20-20, I think my leak was the thermostat. Glad I replaced the pump since I had it all tore apart.

Nothing to dislike from Gates. Belts, hoses, lines and water pumps. Quality is a baseline from Gates. Water pump on the racecar: Gates Water pump on the tow rig: Gates Mom's car: Gates Belts, lines and hoses: Gates! Tow rig, daily driver, racecar: Gates Timing Belt: Gates AcDelco: Factory installed GM parts. I wont put an AcDelco oil filter on anything. I'll put a Gates pump, hose, belt or line on anything I own and operate. If Gates has it, I'd install it over AcDelco.

Fit perfect. Nice metal gaskets. No RTV needed. It's been on 4 months and no noises or leaks. Flushed entire cooling system thru heater hoses, radiator, block. Then sucked all the water out with a shop vac. Worked like a charm.

Got to fix a weep hole that was leaking when it wanted to. Make sure you put your gasket on the thermostat housing as it doesn't come with it already on the water pump.

I read some of the reviews about the thermostat not being installed mine was and has been working perfect for a cpl of months now
