Don't weep. It'll all be okay...
The good 'ol weep hole on my original water pump was leaking like a sieve. I put this here new water pump in conjunction with
Karl Wilbanks
Great fit and install, pressure checked perfectly and has initially performed as hoped, Day One. Will Update.
Replaced a Napa "lifetime" warraty POS that lasted 2.5 years and just under 30,000 miles on our 2002 Avalanche with now 169,000 miles. The cooling system otherwise was in perfect condition (previously flushed and the DEX coolant removed for this new Gates pump was perfect, though we did not reuse). And so, in my view the Napa part had no reason to fail so prematurely (fortunately caught near home and no overheat)...thus the switch to Gates based on the many favorable reviews here. The original GM OEM pump lasted 140,000 so my expectations were much higher than the 30,000 miles with the Napa (I am getting a new Napa pump from the shop that did the install (never again...do my own work for $0/hr and a better job even though these guys are "pro's") in exchange and for what that worth and will keep as a emergency field repair backup, but will see if I ever use). Comes with all high quality metal/silcone gaskets for both the pump itself and the thermostate "o"-ring (they also include a paper gasket which I did not use and opted for light film of Permatex "grey" water pump and thermo RTV on both sides of water pump housing gaskets as well as a dressing for the thermo house cover before inserting the "o"-ring for a metal to metal fit.

Great product!!
So far, so good!! Went on perfectly! Just some general pointers: - Do not tighten the thermostat housing bolts to proper torque specs; the aluminum threads can’t take it. You WILL strip the threads! Just tightnen them down as far as they will go and then give them like an eighth of a turn to a quarter turn more. - This pump comes with metal gaskets. You do not need any other type of sealant where the pump meets the engine. Just make sure you clean the mating surfaces thuroughly. You may need a blade and then some acetone or rubbing alcohol. - This pump comes with new bolts, an o-ring, and a paper gasket for the thermostat housing. If you bought a replacement T-stat then you also got an o-ring with ur T-stat. Use the new bolts, and one o-ring OR paper gasket. I used the o-ring that came with my new T-stat. If you choose to use the paper gasket you will need some sealant (not included), probably RTV. Oh and one more thing! - If your vehicle is equipt with a fan-cluth that goes on the waterpump pulley, you can rent the wrench from AutoZone but they no longer carry the tool that holds the pulley in place (at least not where I live). So instead use a medium or small c-clamp on the back edge of the pulley it will bump into the water pump and hold as you turn the fan clutch nut. DO NOT do this on the new pump!! I’ve also heard that if you remove the fan at the pulley while the serpentine belt is still on and under tension that you don’t need to hold the pulley by other methods; the belt And the resistance from all the other components pulleys keep the water pump pulley from rotating.

Straight forward, messy, but simple install.
Bought to replace my original pump, as I determined there was a slow leak from one of the gaskets. No issues out of the box, and all the old hardware fit very well without an issue. I went ahead and bought the thermostat housing, because why not just give both a fresh start? All things considered, the install was pretty straight forward,I even took the opportunity to easily replace the A/C belt while I had the extra elbow room. The biggest PITA was removing the old hoses without ripping or breaking them, but I did get them out with a bit of a fight, that's to be expected, though. Will advise to have a pair of buckets or a larger catch pan because even if you have purged the lines, this will still drop a good amount of coolant, and Dex-cool is pretty corrosive, and can cause a slick surface. Messy job, but I would do it again. No instructions come with this puppy, so be sure you have a youtube video handy if needed.

So far so good!
I just installed it today but although I can't yet comment on the longevity of the pump, I will say that it went in without incident and appears to be a perfect match for the factory block. I installed it on a 2003 Hummer H2. While I replaced the pump, I also replaced the radiator, upper/lower hoses, both serpentine and AC belts, and thermostat. Those are all the potential failure points in a vehicle with 150K miles so I just did it all at the same time. It took about 4 hours for everything. It might be faster/easier on a different truck, because my Hummer is lifted and the hood opens forward so there was something of a challenge to get the work done. EDIT: 1 month later -- Seems to perform better than OEM. It does such a good job of cooling the oil that it doesn't seem to ever go over 120-130. Coolant temperatures are also lower overall, sticking right around 170-180. I'm especially happy with this pump at this point. EDIT: Still running great in my Hummer; I liked it so much I bought one on behalf of my neighbor who has a pickup truck. Arrived looking and performing perfect right out of the box.

Perfect fit and easy install
This was a perfect fit for my 2001 GMC Sierra 1500. It was easy to install and appears to be of good quality. But the real tests was that it (or the combination of it and a new radiator and thermostat) fixed my cooling issue. I was able to tow 8000 lbs over the Siskiyou Pass between OR and CA without the needle even moving; prior to the replacement it would seriously overheat with a much smaller trailer (3000 lbs). I don't know which component was the real problem, but for the price and relative ease of replacement was worth it to insure I fixed my problem, which it did.

So far so good
I bought this to replace the one on my 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 6.0L. It was an exact replacement and easy to install. Remember you have to buy the correct thermostat as it is not included. The hardest part was getting the fan clutch removed(hint- remove it while the water pump is still attached to the engine and keep the belt on tight. Use a large wrench and hit it with a hammer to break it loose.) So far it seems to be working well. I will update if I have any problems after I put some miles on it.

Check thermostat housing diameter where thermostat engages with pump.
Caution, you must measure the hole where the thermostat installs and insure it is the same diameter. The one I received was much larger in diameter so my original thermostat housing and thermostat would not seal. Yes, it did leak after install and I had to replace the housing and the thermostat. I would recommend purchasing the water pump with the housing and thermostat to save the aggravation. Other than what I mentioned the water pump is of high quality. Kirk Nelson

Fits perfect with no issues!
Installed on a 2004 Chevy 1500 Z71 with 5.3l, installation went perfect with no issues. Had a problem with the truck temp rising and falling in hot and cold weather and when I ran the A\C on a hot day. Water pump is well worth the money even came with all gaskets needed for install, I suggest using anti seize on the bolts during install.

Good replacement water pump for ls truck
The water pump works great. The truck runs about 5 degrees cooler driving down the interstate now.
