This water pump was a third of the price as the retail automotive stores were selling it for. I installed it on a 1998 Chevrolet C1500 with a 4.3l engine and it fit perfect. Despite other reviews, the product i received was a verified OEM AC Delco water pump. You can tell by the AC Delco box it came in and the stamping on the water pump. It came with the required gaskets needed for the installation. The gaskets supplied do not require any RTV sealant. The installation was fairly easy for any person with just a little mechanical aptitude. The only issue i had with the installation was getting the fan loose. I removed the radiator shroud for extra space and i went the extra step of removing the alternator for easier access to hose's. I was able to remove the fan by weaving a metal hangar through two holes in the pulley and wrapping it around the alternator bracket. I then used a crescent wrench and hit it with a rubber mallet. I tried the ratchet strap method and it just slipped around the pulleys. The hangar through the pulley holes was extremely simple and did not risk damaging other components of the pulley system. All in all it was fairly easy ans saved me a fortune. I was quoted $375 to have it repaired by a local mechanic.

Had to Replaced the water pump on my 1999 express. Took it off as a whole so I wouldn't have to deal with the fan clutch bolt and took it to a local shop so they can loosen it for $10. If you plan on taking it off as a whole you will have to remove the radiator for clearance. If not, you will have to rent a special size wrench from AutoZone or you can use a big ass crescent or monkey wrench and hammer it loose. Bolts for the water pump is a 15mm. Its four of them. Two on each side (must use an extension) and for the pulley it is 10mm. Before you install the new one make sure to clean all of the old gasket off the engine block. Also, you might have to remove the idler pulley to get to the hoses that fits on top of the pump. Bolt size for that is a 13mm. This is just a very brief guide but there are a dozen videos on you tube that goes in on the removal and replacement on a 5.7 vortec.

Direct replacement at a great price. I don’t listen to DIY’s reviews on parts quality or nit picking because I only use ACdelco parts on my GM vehicles. My old water pump was factory GM and lasted 225,000 miles before the impeller started leaking perfusivley out of the weep hole. This is technically not an “oem quality replacement” because ACDelco “professional” line of parts is of lower quality. However, it is still the same that you’d get from the dealer. ACdelco has several lines of quality from Professional, Advantage to OEM. Since this one was $140 less than the OEM version, I don’t think I’ll get 225,000 miles out of it, but it should last a good long time. So far so good. Comes with needed gaskets as well.

Installed this water pump in my 1996 K1500 5.7l in right around an hour. First water pump I've ever installed also. Look up a few "how to" videos on YouTube to get a couple quick pointers and you'll be all set. Super easy. Installed with zero issuea. Fitment was perfect. Thank you ACDelco!

ACDelco is one of the BEST names and this was MUCH cheaper than regular price. The pump came with gaskets, be sure to scrape the old ones off with a razor blade and do NOT use sealer on the new gaskets if you have the same application as I have. Some makes//models require sealant so check your specific instructions. I had one wet bolt(threads go into the water jacket) that required sealant on the BOLT THREADS. Removing the fan clutch nut was very difficult until I found the right technique on Youtube. One popular method is to leave the fan belt on and use the biggest adjustable wrench you can find and whack it with a big hammer to break the nut loose. There are more methods you can try if that fails, just search youtube for 'remove fan clutch nut chevy'.

I can't find original AC Delco parts locally. I also can't find replacement pumps for this price. Nothing compares. This pump is well built. I was concerned about shipping a water pump through the mail. If you drop a water pump you can easily "shock" the bearing and ruin the pump. I was pleasantly surprised to see that care was given in the packaging to protect the pump from shock damage. I've been running this pump for several months now and couldn't be more satisfied with it. Excellent value.

Of course, you have to know how to replace this pump and as a retired mechanic (working for free on my wife's car, mind you) it isn't that hard. You DO need the correct clamp retracters to get the factory spring clamps off. I own a full box of almost every Snap-On tool and I have three of them - so I have no hassle to do this work. The pump fits, LOOKS like an AC/Delco and it is heavy cast iron like every other AC/Delco pump I've ever installed. This appears to be the real thing.

Still working on 04 S-10 blazer. Had no leaks or problems after a friend install. Probably order another one soon as about to crate engine and transmission due to high miles and tran leak. It requires fan and pulley removal so a decent job for DIY (hurt back too much bending for me) which is why 3 star for installs easy. Hope this helps God Bless.

AC Delco never fails to deliver !A great water pump That will last more than A couple trips to your grocery store . This original manufacture equipment With restore your cooling system to its proper state and last for years to come!

I had a problem with my water pump in my old Tahoe. If you're read any of my other reviews, you know I know NOTHING about engines. I can, however, read the internet and figure out what it wrong usually. I generally only order ACDelco if I can find the part I'm looking for and the fact that amazon tells me if it fits my vehicle makes things even better. It was around half the price here than my local parts store and actually REALLY easy to install! So not only did I save on the part, but probably a few hundred dollars in labor too! Just so you know, it's been running on my car since April without ANY problem what-so-ever!
