1983 Chevy C10 Square Body NON-TILT Column. DISCLAIMER! I believe all the non-tilt columns on the square bodies are the same from 73-83 but am not sure! All you need to do is file off the excess casting material until it is even with the toothed portion of the rack. Out of the box it is too wide and will not fit in the channel and lineup with the gear. Once the material is removed and it is thinner it slides into the channel in the column and engages all positions (Acc, Off, Run, Crank) properly. Did not see any application specific parts for the c10 Square body so gave this a shot and it works like a charm. I just used a metal file and held the part in a vice and it took about 5 minutes of filing. It would be even faster with and angle grinder. Hope this helps.
Purchased for a non tilt manual steering column in a 1977 CJ5. This worked PERFECT! The same item can be bought on feebay for $30+ So clearly this is a great price and great quality. A must have for most saginaw GM columns that were used in many different vehicles. A 100% solid buy!!
This is the exact replacement for the '75 Chev pickup with non-tilt column even though it is not listed as what it fits. Make sure the metal pin it mounts on is not stuck in the old gear. If so, use a small punch to lightly punch it out of the old gear, then lightly tap it back into the steering column carefully so as not to break off the tiny ball on the end. a roll pin that will freely go over the ball and catch the shoulder will work. Snap the new gear on the pin and assemble.
This part was damaged/worn after removing a broken key cylinder. The replacement for my Jeep CJ exactly and back on the road! Saved me a $1000 replacement steering column.
Like that the kit has what is needed to replace steering wheel lock for functionality. Anyone looking to replace the rack part of ignition lock should make sure of fit. It does not fit 1970 Chevelle's although the sector gear is a match.
