I have a variety of cast iron pans, ovens, and grills and use them alot. To get the most out of your grill and to be happy with your purchase you should read the instructions....The factory seasoning gets better with each use. Add extra oil in the beginning. Like all cast iron the grills yours may stick until well seasoned. The factory seasoning is not the end all. Do not use dish soap to clean etc. Like all cast iron this grill gets and stays hot so use mitts or pot holders to handle or just let it cool. I like this little grill for overnight camping trips and cooking for two at home. Lite compared to my other larger grills. The grill certainly should not come with rust but will rust if stored improperly.

Heats up well. Easier to flip pancakes and burgers than higher rimmed pans. Doubles as a stove top burner cover. Can also be used as a diffuser. Stays on my stove top permanently. Much easier to manuver than the double burner slates. Would rather use 2 of these than one huge double griddle. Fits in the sink for a quick scrub and rinse. After 4 years of almost daily use, it’s still wonderful. It’s our go to breakfast pan, grill cheese maker, pizza warmer. When not in use, it’s a stove top protector from splatters. It’s also a plate warmer.

It's been a while since I bought a brand new cast product so I was hoping I wouldn't have any issues seasoning the thing. I think I put the oil on it and must have left it in the oven for several hours. That seemed to do the trick! I have several pans and a large griddle but wanted the one burner griddle so this was just right. I do wash my cast iron but I don't allow it to soak in the water; more of a soapy rinse. I have also discovered that tomato products don't do well to the pans. I used to fry hamburger and add the sauce in but it destroys the seasoning. I have one small griddle I use for my eggs; I can cook perfect over-easy eggs on that thing... works better than any of those "green" pans they sell today. Those things are a waste of money; the life spans are way too short and cast iron will last forever. The flip side also worked well for frying bacon; all the grease goes in the reservoirs nicely.

This Single-Burner Reversible Grill/Griddle is perfect for a variety of meals and is a breeze to clean. Whether you're cooking bacon, hamburgers, eggs, pancakes, steak, chicken, or just warming tortillas for tacos, this cast iron grill/griddle is perfect. It also makes a great toasted sandwich. It distributes heat evenly and is the perfect size to feed two or more people, depending on what you're making. The fact that it is a single-burner product is something that I find invaluable. It doesn't take up much space and even looks quaint sitting on my stove in my kitchen when its not in use. My friends love it and I always tell them that for something that can last you forever if you take care of it, this cast iron grill/griddle is priceless. Although it is heavy, you more than likely won't need to move it much. I keep mine on my stove top at all times and just warm it up when needed. I rarely have to move it for cleaning, as I can often just wipe it down to remove any remaining food particles. When it does need a deeper clean, warm water does the trick. The only aspect of this cast iron tool that I have the slightest gripe about is that when cooking food that has juices or grease (i.e. bacon or a steak), there is no easy way to pour them out. This grill/griddle is difficult to move when hot (any time I move mine I have to use two hands to keep it level, which when hot means two oven mits) and when pouring any liquids there is no spout or way for the liquids to be easily removed without it draining out and running down the underside of the grill/griddle. For this reason, I often stick to my Lodge 10.5" cast iron skillet when cooking bacon. This is strictly because I save bacon grease for cooking with later and the Lodge skillet has a convenient pour spout I can use to pour the bacon grease into a container. If I didn't use bacon grease later on, I would have no need to switch to the cast iron skillet for bacon. Because this is a particular situation and the grill/griddle is otherwise invaluable, I do not feel the need to dock any stars as part of this review. The grill/griddle is advertised as coming pre-seasoned and it arrives as such. However, I find that my cast iron products work better and are more non-stick when I add seasoning on top of the factory seasoning. To do this, I do the following steps- - Preheat oven to 450 degrees. - Wash cast iron product with warm water only. - Dry it well with a cloth or paper towels and then place it on stove-top. Turn on the burner and let any remaining moisture evaporate. - Rub the entire cast iron product with oil (I use Canola oil and it works very well). This includes the inside, outside, and the handle. Then, wipe off as much residual oil as you can. It may seem that you're wiping all of the oil off but this is not the case. The cast iron will still season well, however if you leave too much oil on the cast iron it will become sticky and clump during the baking/polymerization process. - Place foil on the bottom/bottom rack of your oven (this catches any oil that may drip from your cast iron while it is baking). - Place your cast iron product upside down (for this grill/griddle I place the grate side down) and bake for 1 hour at 450 degrees (this amount of time and the high heat allow for the oil to polymerize and become slick, which is what gives the cast iron it's non-stick property). - Remove and let cool. I do this process 3 to 5 times after receiving a new cast iron product and it always works extremely well. You don't need to do this entire process often, maybe once or twice every few months after the initial seasoning. Cast iron will continue to collect layers of seasoning as you cook with it, so cook with it often! Overall, this Lodge Cast Iron Single-Burner Reversible Grill/Griddle is a fantastic purchase and a great tool for your kitchen. If you love cooking with a great product that produces great tasting food, this cast iron product is for you.

After my single-burner Lodge griddle arrived, I gave it one extra seasoning session in the oven, and then put it to work cooking steaks, bacon, and pork chops. It performed great! It now has a permanent place atop one of the trivets on my stove! It also fits on one side of my Kingsford grill perfectly, so I can do some last minute griddle cooking (like Texas toast, eggs, or veggies) directly over the coals while the main meats are cooking/smoking on the indirect heat side. I have also used the griddle to make red-eye gravy after cooking pork chops. Pour some hot coffee over the drippings and start scraping the trenches of the griddle with a wooden spoon! Makes great sopping gravy and adds extra moisture to the chops or steak!

This griddle work great on stove top burner or on outdoor grills. Both sides does a good job cooking food without sticking. I use it mostly to cook breakfast foods instead of the non-stick Teflon coated griddles used in the past. With the cast iron I will not have to worry about losing the non-stick surface.

I was worried this wouldn't heat evenly, as my round burner only sits underneath the middle of it, but it did heat even into the corners. I made french toast on the flat side this morning and it was excellent. I washed it with very little soap and water before first use, let it get hot on the stove, then spread a thin layer of olive oil before I cooked. I had no problems with things sticking or with cleaning after. Looking forward to using this more!

I use this all the time. For french toast, eggs, pancakes you name it. It's not too big that it feels like it takes over my entire stove. It's pre seasoned so food does not stick. It is heavy, but it's cast iron. You can't beat cast iron in my opinion for cooking. Works great. Can't live without it now. And the reverse side is great for grilling veg and chicken too.

I got one of these when i got my induction cook top because i thought it MIGHT be useful... since then i have discovered i underestimated it.. this is my MOST used pan.. it works great on an induction heater.. heats up evenly and cooks steaks kabobs etc easily and evenly!! clean up is easy and fun to use!! I know some complain that it is heavy.. but if you want something that heats evenly it is going to be heavy!

This griddle works great! We were able to make pancakes on one side, and grill a couple big steaks on the other. Easy to clean. Fits well on the Coleman stove next to a 9” skillet. Will probably be a little snug with anything bigger than that.
