Great toys/puzzle for my 24 month old daughter. She really enjoys them!
I love the color and design of this puzzle. My two year old went crazy for it and plays with it whenever it is out. Only minor downside is that the paint does seem to scratch off fairly easily with rough use by your toddler. Other than that, it is solid and seems to be well made. Love that she can use the vehicles independently from the puzzle as toys as they stand up on their own.

Great learning tool. Doubles as toy. Or vice versa.
It seems Melissa and Doug have taken back the reins for the company. I received my set March 2017 and the pieces sound solid and are painted on (no stickers as mentioned in old reviews!) My 2-year-old easily solves the puzzle but likes practicing the names and sounds for each piece. Since the blocks are thick, they can stand upright on their own so she can play with them as well as learn. This is what attracted me to the chunky puzzles instead of peg puzzles. She shares them with her 9-month-old sister who uses them for teething. The paint has withstood the abuse thus far. The baby also likes the sound of the pieces banging together. It sounds like banging drum sticks together, so I may have a percussionist on my hands. If this is your first Melissa and Doug chunky puzzle, I've noticed they generally have the matching pictures in the slot as the piece. The entire block is painted one color with only the top painted with a picture. The board seems built for abuse. The other puzzles I have have decent sized pieces where I don't worry at all but the train cars on this one are just borderline to what I'd feel comfortable with a baby playing with and risking swallowing. If you have seen the caps to food pouches, they're about the same size. Then again, you can either hide those pieces for a few months or only let them play with this particular one supervised. There are racks you can buy to organize these, and I may look into getting one later, but right now, they make a neat stack without the rack.

Best block puzzle
My son got his first Melissa & Doug puzzle at the hospital before surgery and loved it! He loved it so much that I had to buy him another one. He holds the puzzle pieces like they are hot wheels! Great buy!!!

GREAT for active toddlers
We got this for my 18 month year old son and he LOVES it. It is a great puzzle for early development. The pieces are all different sizes, colors, and shapes. It is a good first-step puzzle for kids who are starting to learn their motor skills. The puzzle is very high quality (as all Melissa & Doug products seem to be). It is solid wood with good quality paint. Only minor dings and no chips in the paint even after hours of play, including good toddler thrashing.

Great toddler puzzle
Toddler just adores this puzzle. Bought around 18 months and we do it every so often and she’s 2 now. She has learned what each vehicle is and how it travels

Really like these chunky wooden puzzles!
Really like these chunky wooden puzzles! They're perfect for little fingers that can't work a regular puzzle yet. My one year old plays with the pieces that are nice because they're thick enough to stand up and is learning how to put them back into their spots when it's time to clean up.

Two toys in one
I have several of these chunky puzzles -- vehicles and animals. The puzzles are great and colorful, but the puzzle pieces become a second toy. The kids have a large floor mat printed with roads, railroad tracks, and all sorts of buildings and places. So -- the police car goes with the police station, school bus to the school, firetruck to the fire station, airplane to the airport -- other puzzles supply animals for the farm and zoo. Just a few puzzles give you every thing you need for a make-believe play world.

Can Never go Wrong with Melissa & Doug
Melissa & Doug, you can never go wrong with their products. I am OBSESSED with chunky puzzles for kids. Bought for my 1 year old nephew, he adores vehicles. Not only is the puzzle educational (which I love), but the pieces are big and can be played with as well. Great quality, great product-- would ALWAYS recommend.

glad to find it still available
I was so grateful to find this puzzle again as my grandson had lost his favorite piece. This way he could have the puzzle complete again which is very important to an almost 2 year old.

Perfect for Little Fingers
This is the first Melissa & Doug product I have purchased, but it will NOT be the last! Purchased for my 18 month old grandchild, and it is wonderful. The puzzle pieces are very thick - about twice as thick as the wooden board they sit in, so those chunky little fingers can grasp the pieces easily to lift them out, and put them back in place. When you remove the puzzle piece from its "slot", there is a second, identical picture of the puzzle piece under it, making it easier for the little one to identify where each piece belongs. Very sturdy and also very colorful!
