My daughter loves it. Simple yet educational and super cute toy!
Very cute and colorful, my 2 1/2 years old daughter loves to play with it, perfect size for her little hands and easy for her to hold the pieces. Besides teaching them about shapes and making the connection in their little brains that says "this goes here or there", it allows me to teach her to name all the cute insects (in both english and spanish because we are a latin family) and she would take one of them and comes to me to show me and tell me its name, it's really cute :-) . Also since it is so colorful she can practice the colors names (again english and spanish haha) and I can make up stories or take a butterfly and pretend she is flying, which she loves! :-) I love a simple toy that looks more like real life and still keeps them entertained and at the same time encourages their imagination, I beleive a kid at this age needs a lot less from a toy than we think, they can get fascinated by a piece of wood and may lose interest in the sophisticated battery operated "whatever" in an hour. Summing up, very simple yet educational and cute toy, I love that combination and apparently my little girl does too :-)

Bright and colorful!
Great quality! The pieces are solid chunks of wood with a screen printed image on it and the back and sides are painted a corresponding color. When the pieces are picked up, the image of that same piece is underneath it, so they don't have to decide where it goes by the shape alone. We bought this and the Safari one for our 1 yr old for Christmas in 2013, so of course she needed help with it but the big chunky pieces were easy for her to hold and its just so bright and colorful!! It didn't get much play as a 'puzzle' but she liked to just play with the creature pieces. : ) It's almost a yr later and they still look great...just a couple of chips off the color but nothing really noticeable. It's not played with constantly, but whenever she comes across it she still plays with the pieces and tries to fit em into the puzzle board now!

Love this puzzle
My daughter has many Melissa and Doug puzzles and this one is one of her favorites. I love the fact that this puzzle includes many insects and presents things that are often not included on other puzzles. I like the fact that it presents insects in a friendly way as it helps to introduce the idea that insects are not scary. This puzzle is very durable and has survived daily wear and tear of a 2 year old, has been dropped down the stairs, and put into the bath for a short period of time (not one of my better parenting moments). There have been no paint chips or change in quality in any way. She often runs to her Melissa and Doug puzzles first thing when she wakes up in the morning.

Sturdy and beautifully colored
Even babies can enjoy this puzzle as they hold and touch the pieces. Very good quality as my grandchildren include a three year old, a two year old and a one year old. All of them enjoy the bright colors, and the oldest is having fun learning the names of the insects.

My Toddler Loves It
My daughter got this for her 1st birthday. She was very interested and quickly learned that the puzzle piece matched up to a picture on the board. Now at 16 months she's a pro and put the pieces in place without help. She still plays with it often so it was worth the purchase. The puzzle board and pieces are wood and, like other revieweres, I have also noticed the paint has chipped in some places. Even so, it doesn't take away from the fact that my toddler is clearly stimulated and entertained. A good purchase.

Great
Creates excellent hand eye coordination. We have three of these and my daughter loves playing with them. We say the animal, or insects, name when she puts them in. It's very colorful so it always catches their eyes. Out of the three the bug one is my least favorite. We have the safari and sea one. Lion, whale, and shark are a little easier for her to remember, and try to say, than tarantula, butterfly, and mosquito. Don't base that on your decision though. She still plays with it.

Wonderful for a toddler
Same thing I said about the Safari puzzle: I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I got this for my 21-month-old for Christmas and not only does she love it, but it's pretty high quality. The puzzle pieces don't just have stickers on them, they're definitely painted. My daughter loves putting it together. It was the least expensive, yet most loved gift for Christmas. I would recommend this! We also got her the Classic Peg Puzzle (Pack of 3). All were a hit!
