No slips - easy to use
I have a 2002 Mazda B-3000 (Ford Ranger). The clutch's slave cylinder was leaking. Since I had to pull the trans to replace it I decided to replace the clutch and flywheel as well. This necessitated holding the flywheel to loosen and torque both the flywheel bolts and the clutch pressure plate bolts. I also decided to change the timing chain cover (which was leaking); this involved pulling the harmonic balancer. Since the trans was out, I had full access to the flywheel. I just hooked up the Flywheel Turner and let the handle sit on the truck's frame (to keep it from moving). It worked great. I read reviews for some other flywheel turners and they said they slipped. This one had no slip whatsoever, even when I re-torqued the hamonic balancer bolt to 107 ft. lbs. I wasn't even touching the flywheel turner - it just grabbed as soon as the flywheel started to move. I love Lisle tools. Just looking at the tool you can tell it's well made. If I have a choice, I always buy them and have yet to be disappointed. They are always well made and work as they should!

There are a few different brands/versions of the "flywheel turner" that all do the same thing but are built slightly differently. After looking at most of the offerings I came to the conclusion that this particular one would be the most robust one. After receiving it, I think I was right. The tool is well built, and well suited to do it's task. I used it to hold the flywheel stationary as the balancer bolt was torqued. All worked well and should last a lifetime. Buy it if you need it!

Best flywheel tool I've come across...
Great tool! I've purchased several other flywheel turners/holder over the years. This one has by far the best design, and is the only one that I can see holding up for the long haul. No stamped parts here that will bend over time and render the tool useless. I have to say i've bought several other Lisle items recently, and they do not disappoint.

This is one hell of a good tool. I used it to hold a flexplate in place while I tightened a crankshaft bolt while engine was in car. Popped the car up on a jackstand, one side. Placed this tool on the flexplate with handle facing down towards concrete, tool stayed in place and braced against garage floor while I put 165 FT LBS torque on crankshaft bolt. Not a scratch on the tool. No more trying to wedge things thru flexplate holes with this. Absolute must-have if you do heavier engine work.

Made it to turn the flywheel while working on the clutch and pressure plate
Used this on a 1961 Chevrolet 283 engine with a manual transmission. Had to pull the transmission to find and fix a problem. Worked well to rotate the flywheel so that I could remove, check, clean and subsequently reinstall and torque the assembly. Much easier than trying to use a very large screwdriver and a lot faster. A little tricky the first time to get it to bite.

something thats always good to have
I bought this tool because it was similar to what I had used when I did alot of transmission jobs back in the 1980's Lisle is a name that I've always been familiar with so it was kinda a no brainer purchase. I just recently built a high compression big block Chevy and I wanted to verify TDC beacuse I'm using a billet aftermarket timing pointer. The tool works as good as any I had ever used, I didn't break it so that's a good thing right there. So i would recommend this tool if you need to rotate an engine in car. just a word of caution make sure the teeth are fully engaged with the tool or you might skin some knuckles a couple of times. P.S. dont forget to remove the spark plugs if your trying to rotate a large displacement/high compression engine... Update; I loaned this tool to someone an between the 2 of us we lost it, so I bought it again and shortly afterward the first purchased tool was found. New one for me, the first one for the friend who had borrowed it.

Flywheel Turner & Holder
A very successful product, did the job as expected! My use of this tool was to hold a flywheel on a 70 hp Evinrude outboard motor on my pontoon. As the engine is free to turn, removing the locknut over the flywheel would be nearly impossible without a holder. After the repairs were done, the holder also held the flywheel so that the nut could be reinstalled and torqued to spec. This tool is very well built, and made a very tough job easier. The tool was shipped very quickly, was well packed, and came at a very attractive price. If you have need of a flywheel holder, this is the one you want. Again, Amazon's service won the day. By the way, this tool is actually shown in the Evinrude Factory Repair Manual for my engine. It isn't named, but the photo shows it clearly. The right tool always makes the job easier!

Worked great for my clutch install on small block chevy, 168 tooth 11" clutch. Did the job.

Another Quality Lisle Tool
I used this on my '66 Buick 340 when unbolting the torque converter from the flex plate and it worked exactly as intended with no issues. I would buy again, but doubt I will need to.

Excellent tool that gets the job done.
This tool is worth every penny I paid for it. I used this tool to install a flywheel and clutch on an engine I’m rebuilding. The torque specs called for 71-76 ft-lbs. for each of the 6 flywheel bolts and this tool held the flywheel in place with absolutely no problem whatsoever.
