Still clicking away after two years!
I ordered this for my son who was teaching English down in Chile but where everything is imported and expensive or it can't be shipped to Chile from the seller! So I'd gathered a bunch of stuff to send him and he'd asked for one of these if it wasn't too expensive. But I didn't want to send him something CHEAP that would not work for him either and I knew nothing about these things beforehand! So I read tons of reviews on different models from really cheap to kinda not so cheap and decided on this one because, while INEXPENSIVE, it seemed to be so only because it is a simple design, it doesn't do all sorts of things. But all my son had wanted was a "clicker" to advance his slides from a distance...an average size classroom... the laser pointer was an added bonus for him. And now, two years later it's still working! So if that helps...! :-D

Teaching Tool!
As a 5th grade teacher, I know the importance in keeping my students engaged. I also know how important it is to be able to monitor my students from all over the classroom. Before purchasing the Kensington Wireless Pointer, I felt like I was glued to my Smartboard at times because I was constantly having to go up to the board to touch the screen. With this pointer, I'm able to change slides, start/stop videos, go back to a precious slide, etc. while walking around my classroom and monitoring my students. I can also use the laser pointer to bring attention to things on the board. I feel like it's made my lessons more effective and my students more engaged. I was worried about the compatibility with my MacBook Pro and Smartboard, but it worked beautifully. I highly recommend!

Solved all my issues
I hav used a number of brands of wireless presenters over the years in teaching. Most have been okay with two exceptions: (1) the range was limited due to IR receivers; and (2) I kept misplacing the USB receiver due to it falling out of the Presenter. The Kensington solved both issues. The signal can be picked from anywhere in a large room, even when partially blocked by people or column and the title USB locks into the Presenter and only release when depressed. I had also had issues getting some to work with my MacBook. This worked immediately following inserting the USB. I borrowed one from a friend due to my old one failing right before a presentation. Loved and purchased one. After almost two months of hour long presentations it has worked flawlessly.

useable with long fingernails
My wife, with her stylishly long fingernails, couldn't reliably press the buttons on the wireless presenter that I use, so I bought her this one. This has been in production so long it could be considered a classic -- and rightly so. My wife finds it comfortable to hold, the buttons easy to locate by feel, and reliable to press -- even with long fingernails. It really does work up to about 60 feet away. And did you know that when you insert the USB receiver into it's slot in the base of the presenter that it disables the presenters buttons (it turns the presenter off)? How convenient.

A Remote for Mac and PC
I am a mac user and use both Apple Keynote (primary) and Microsoft Powerpoint (secondary). I bought this for my office since Apple's Keynote companion app (Keynote Remote) was no longer connecting to my computer via wi-fi (and still yet, never connects via bluetooth). This little thing is a godsend. It's simple, ergonomic and doesn't feel flimsy. The buttons are made of rubber, not plastic, so it feels sturdy in your hand. The controls are simple that even the most technologically challenged can use it. The added benefit of the laser and the "black-out" button make it essential for conferences and speeches. Not many people have talked about crossover from mac to pc, so I'll address it here: This remote is plug-and-play for both pc and mac. No need to install drivers or go through set-up wizards. Even more, the remote works on any active program—meaning that if you are on a mac and have both keynote and powerpoint open, it will work on whichever program is currently active and in-view on your desktop, without any issues. What does this mean, exactly? It means that if you are primarily a keynote user, and you are putting on a conference, and one of your colleagues has a powerpoint file, you can use the same remote for the same computer for both applications. Just switch applications and the remote works. No fuss, no muss. The only challenge with this remote is making sure no one in the office hoards it in their desk.

Runs PowerPoint on Mac without a hitch
I have seen reviews for this that implied they cannot be used with Macs. My husband and I both have Macs (2010 MacBook Pro and 2013 MacBook Air), and we both teach. Our systems at the college allow us to feed presentations through an overhead projector to a drop down screen. These are simple remotes, just forward and back + a black out button when you don't want students looking at the screen. I bought this newer one so I did not have to pocket an additional laser pointer. The antenna plugs into the USB port and it is totally plug and play after you indicate onscreen that you are using a US type keyboard. Both John and I walk around as we teach and this allows us to be anywhere in the room. The advantage over the native Mac remote is that the Air does not have an infrared window on the leading edge of the computer to be able to use it and with the Pro you have to be aligned with the computer for the beam to register, keeping you in close proximity. We like the freedom to move about that this one provides. I've had the original one for about 3 years and it still works great. It is now becoming the hand me down for my husband so I can have this one with an incorporated laser.

Great For Teachers or Presenters
I have used this both as a graduate student and as a teacher, and it was perfect in both environments. I always feel sorry for teachers who feel tethered to their computers during powerpoint presentations, because this controller allows you to walk around freely while being in control of your presentation. I also ended up using the laser pointer way more than I thought I would. A quick warning if you have fidgety hands, the USB piece is really fun to click in and out of the main body of the controller so make sure you don't break it.

The best powerpoint remote. Much better than navigator.
Fantastic powerpoint remote control. No software is necessary for windows use. Just plus the dongle into a USB port and go to slide show mode in powerpoint. The right and left buttons advance or back up the slides. The bottom button blanks the screen and the top button is a red laser pointer. Fits in the palm of your hand and couldn't be simpler. Uses two included AAA batteries and is very reliable. Build quality is excellent I had a navigator remote (almost identical shape and design) for many years. I always had to remove the batteries when I travelled so they wouldn't run down. When my navigator broke I bought this. It is wonderful. Much cheaper than a navigator and basically the same operation as my old navigator but with critical differences: > small USB dongle fits INTO the remote when not in use. BY inserting in the remote it kills the batteries so you NEVER have to remove the batteries. To remove dongle from remote just press on it and it pops out. then you insert it into the laptop. Windows 7 home premium 64 bit recognized it immediately but I suspect it would work with any windows version (old or new). I used to have to carry a bag for the remote, the dongle, and the two batteries. Now I just carry the remote since the other parts are inside of it. >USB dongle is half the length of the navigator version with makes it easier to use when space is at a premium >Buttons are much smaller. Initially I thought this was bad as I was used to very large buttons, but I quickly retrained myself and now I see a big advantage. My navigator broke because the buttons got smashed in my suitcase. I suspect that will not happen with these buttons. Though they are small they are far apart so even someone with weak or frail hands should have no trouble with this.

Excellent design
There are lots of presentation remotes that you can buy, but this one stands out for many reasons. The remote has an excellent "feel" in your hand. The case and buttons have a rubberized coating, providing a good grip. The buttons are nicely spaced, making it unlikely that you'll accidentally hit the wrong one. But the designers thought of several other nice features. First, there is no "off" button - you turn the remote off by inserting the USB plug-in into the case for storage. That means you won't accidentally have the remote turn on, and run down the battery, while it's being carried in your briefcase. Second, the remote uses standard AAA batteries, not CR-type coin batteries, which makes it much easier to buy new batteries if you're on the road. I also like the little green light that blinks on the USB plug-in when you press a button, so you know if the remote is working or not. I have tried this remote on my MacBook Pro, and had no problem running a Powerpoint presentation at a distance of 20 feet. The only drawback is that the laser is not very bright (as is typical for these handheld remotes). It's fine for a small room, but for a larger audience I always use a separate higher-power laser pointer, so this is not an issue to me. Overall, I am delighted with this remote, and hope that it proves to be as durable as it looks.

Best. Clicker. Ever.
This is my second Kensington "clicker" of the same model and I hope they never stop making it. It feels good in the hand and is intuitive to use. Unlike so many other clickers I've been forced to use when sharing a presentation that just aren't made to fit in the hand and have so many useless buttons and on/off switches that it becomes a mess. Advance 1 slide. Go back 1 slide. Point at the screen. What else to you need? My first Kensington pointer finally gave up the ghost after nearly 10 years of near daily use, including hundreds of presentations and millions of air miles in a largely unprotected bag of electronics. To protect this one, I've added a travel case (For Kensington Wireless Presenter Pointer K33374USA / K33373US Travel EVA Hard Protective Carrying Case by Hermitshell) made specifically for this model. So until someone comes up with a clicker that works off the voices in my head, I'll keep buying this model.
