Great Montessori style toy

I bought these for my one year old and they held her attention for a very long time. I love that there are multiple ways to play with this toy. It allows for a lot of open ended creative play, which is exactly what i'm looking for in a toddler toy. The pictures that go along with the alphabet on the side are also very charming, which is an added bonus. I thought the artwork looked "too busy" when I was thinking about buying, but bought them anyway and was surprised to see I was wrong. The pictures are delightful.

Beautiful, Versatile Alphabet Blocks!

Melissa and Doug products are the best! These thick cardboard/laminated blocks are well made. My daughter loves these! They are so versatile. She can arrange the blocks by size and build a tower or she can try to nest the blocks inside each other. Each block has a few letters of the alphabet with beautifully illustrated pictures that correspond to each letter of the alphabet. It's a great way to practice the alphabet and learning sounds. These blocks are perfect for children 2+. You will be able to use them for many years.

They all loved it! It is colorful

I bought this item in November of 2006, and after 3 children playing with it, it has not only stood the test of time, but has been played with by 4/4 children in my home. They all loved it! It is colorful, and sturdy. The boxes are made out of a hard shell condensed cardboard with laminate coating. Tough. The kids played the most with these between ages of 6 months to age 4 years old. They love to build the tower and then knock it down! Lol. I had to review this, as all 4 children loved it, and when the child is a toddler, it helps build eye-hand coordination and learning of balance. Great toy! Melissa and Doug win again!

Great that they store inside of each other so you ...

This was a hit at Christmas with the youngest grandkid as well as her older brother. Great that they store inside of each other so you have a nice package of blocks when it's time to put them away. Seem to be sturdy and hoping they will last quite a while as long as nobody starts throwing them or tries to stand on them.

Great product

My 1yr old loves these. They are well made and feel quality. She has used a couple of them for standing on to get on the couch but they have stood up to her antics. I totally recommend these.

We bought these as a present for our younger daughter ...

We bought these as a present for our younger daughter a while back. She is now two and still loves the cubes. Our almost five year old also loves playing with the cubes with her sister. I was nervous when purchasing because of them being cardboard, but they have held up quite well to the kids falling on them or kicking them. They have torn a little, but it wasn't anything a little tape could not fix. And it did not surprise me with how rough my kids are. I think they hold up great for being cardboard. And we still have a full functionig set after I thunk a year and a half of rough play from my kids. I would recommend this product to others.

Great stacking boxes!

Several people complain about the material that these boxes are made of - heavy duty cardboard. Contrary to that, I will say that these have massively held up for us throughout daily use for over 4 months. They are fantastic for children who are into building and stacking. They are also useful in talking about animals and colors as well.

Great poduct, my toddler loves them!

I purchased the Melissa & Doug Deluxe 10-Piece Alphabet nesting and stacking blocks for my two and a half year old son to help with his speech and occupational therapy at home and for general play as well. This set comes with 10 cardboard boxes with vibrant pictures of animals and the alphabet. This set comes with a carrying case that is also a cardboard box with a rope handle. I chose to just toss the case and we store the boxes nested on a shelf. My son loves to stack the boxes and them look at all of the pictures before knocking them down and starting over. We always put them away once he is finished playing with them, I believe this will help them last much longer than if they are just left on the floor or just tossed in a toy box. We love Melissa and Doug products and my son loves these stacking boxes just as much as his wooden puzzles. I paid full price for this item.

Great staple for young learners!

I have been buying this since my oldest was little. Great staple for young learners. It can be stacked into a tower. Bright appealing pictures, letters and numbers.Good for motor skills. Kids can put the blocks inside of each other. Carrying handle too. Made of good quality cardboard.

Love them, and glad they are cardboard!!

I absolutely adore these blocks. I bought them for my 14 month old, and she loves the colours and designs, and stacking them, of course. I'm very grateful that they are cardboard, because they stack higher than her height, and she loves to knock them down. They are very lightweight, and harmless when they fall down around her. I was concerned that she might teeth on them, but she tried that a couple of times, and it quickly lost its appeal. Now she just stacks them and also nests the smaller ones into the larger ones. One of the other beautiful things about this toy is the way all of the boxes fit into each other, and then into their carry box with the handle, when you are done with them. They take up a minimum of room, but offer so much play potential! :->
