I bought this for my 19 month old granddaughter because she loves animals, I love all Melissa and Doug toys because they are well made and priced right. I read some of the reviews on the puzzle before I bought it and I almost didn’t buy it because some of the reviews stated that the puzzle is “ Possessed “ and just goes off at random times, or sometimes the animals didn’t make the sound at all. Anyway since I have bought several items of theirs before for my grandchildren I went ahead and bought it, it arrived and worked great, then it didn’t. I called the number on the back of the puzzle and I have to say that their customer service is amazing, come to find out that each piece is light sensitive and if you are playing with it in a room that is a normal lit room then it works perfectly, my granddaughters bedroom at night is dark but has a nightlight so if the pieces weren’t in the puzzle and you went in and turned on the light the animals would make their sounds because the sensor on the puzzle piece is sensitive to light. We now have the puzzle out in the living room with most of her other toys and we haven’t had a problem since. When I spoke to the customer service representative he said that they are using this feedback to possibly have this information on the package. I am glad I bought this puzzle and called customer service before writing my review since I know reading reviews on products will sometimes sway someone’s purchase when all that is needed is a phone call to customer service, which I know takes time, but I would rather give a good review to a good product than a bad or mediocre review to a good product because I didn’t make the call. I definitely plan on buying more of these puzzles.

Dislike puzzles but this one is awesome

Love this! I mostly dislike toys with pieces that can be missing. So I usually never buy “puzzles” that I know my son will loose in the heartbeat. With that being said I went to a banking class one day and they had childcare for the hour we where in class. When I came back to get him he loved this toy. He loved it because of the noise it made when he put the piece in. My son is still developing speech and is slower then other toddlers do this is great because he repeats animal sounds. Is the pieces annoying? Yes, do I have to help him put them on? Yes if it’s some puzzle but with this one he seems a lot more excited to put them into the correct spot. So it’s worth.

Great sound making toy

My daughter already has this but I bought one to have at my house because my 2 year old grandson is thrilled with himself every time he puts a puzzle piece in. " Gwanma I did it! " Even the 3 year olds like to dump the pieces out then put them back to hear the sounds. The kids get all excited when I fake & put the duck into the cow slot and I say " doesn't a duck moo? " They laugh and scream and begin to teach me the correct sounds. Recently one of the 3 year olds said " yes, Grandma, ducks moo" with a huge smile on her face, and she encouraged me to put the animals in all wrong the wrong places. She said in Magic Land, ducks say moo and kittens quack.etc etc all the while laughing as she assigns absurd sounds to the animals. She carries this game forward saying in Magic Land, she is the grandma and I am the child...so i try and speak the way she does, and she try's to talk as I do. So funny. I think it's great the children have used this toy as a springboard for their imaginations. Magic land indeed. ....

Melissa and Doug products are so much fun - love this barn animal puzzle Sturdy wooden puzzle that makes the animal noise when you put the puzzle piece back in, the noise comes out of the barn. Great way to introduce animals and sounds. Ages 2+ We have had fun with this with our granddaughter.

Great puzzle for fine motor skills

I used this puzzle to improve my toddler's fine motor skills and it had worked great. Within about one month, he was about to match the animals and put the puzzles back to exactly where the animals are. The puzzle is also the right size for the little hands to grab. I'm very satisfied with this puzzle and highly recommend.

Great quality

My kids love this. It is very durable and has pretty pictures. The animal noises arent too loud, so that is nice. And i love that you can turn it off, so i dont have to listen to farm noises all the time. Have had it since christmas (almost end of February now) and havent had to change batteries yet.

Perfect for a 1 year old

My 1 year old received this as a birthday gift, and he loved it so much we have gifted it ourselves. Make sure you turn it off when not in use, because ours sometimes likes to make farm animal sounds when we walk through the house.

Excelente herramienta de aprendizaje

Es una excelente herramienta para el aprendizaje de los niños. Mi niña tiene casi dos años y tiene problemas para hablar. Lo llevo utilizando dos semanas y le ha ayudado muchísimo. Ya puede hacer el sonido de la vaca, de la oveja y del pato. Adicional, le ha ayudado a identificar los animales y ubicarlos en su lugar. ¡Excelente producto!

The children love it. I have an almost two year old that I bought it for. He has already mastered which piece belongs where. The sound as well as the duplicated photo helps his recognition to decide what piece goes where. I do not experience the puzzle going off randomly as some reviews have stated. I love Melissa and Doug products. I have an eight year old and have been buying their products for year. All the puzzles have held up over the years with our growing active family. Some products are pricey but always well made and durable.

Fun and accurate sounds! We love playing with this toy. I use it for work with kiddos and with my own son.
