Great magnets, but don't feed to your kids!

Many years ago, I fed one of these to my dear daughter. I hoped that the magnet would protect her delicate digestive tract from any nails or barbed wire she might happen to ingest, as it does for our bovine friends. Big mistake. My little girl might have been saved from intestinal perforations, but now that she's grown up, she lives a life of vice and depravity. It seems that the strong magnetic field threw her moral compass completely out of whack.

Good classic AlNiCo cow magnets.

The poles are at the rounded ends, and so the magnetic field is strongest there. Keep in mind that AlNiCo magnets are moderately strong, but are easily demagnetized by other strong magnets. If you give these to kids who like to see if they're strong enough to push similar poles together, the magnets will become weaker after this kind of abuse. Ferrite/ceramic magnets aren't demagnetized as easily, but AlNiCo magnets are physically tougher and don't chip and shatter as easily as the ferrite/ceramic ones.

Fantastic Magnets

These magnets are great. I grew up playing with them as a child and I can tell you nothing sparks a child's interest in science like two powerful polarized magnets! They probably do wonders for metal eating cows as well :)
