5year old Son enjoys playing, and building with these. We got these on the recommendation of Physical Therapist. Nice packaging, we switched to plastic Zipper storage bag for ease of cleanup.

I honestly never leave product reviews, but after the first set of magnets I tried, I had to. These are perfect. I got them as a gift for my son's 10th birthday, because he loves to build. They are small, which is what I love, because then he doesn't think he "playing with blocks." They really do well for older kids, I'd say 7-8 and up. The other generic set i bought for 13 trying to save money, were awful. Not only did it have a piece missing, but the magnet was only at the tip, so it wasn't strong at all. These have a magnet all the way through, making them super strong for building. HIGHLY recommend!

I have two nephews. I bought a couple of these sets for the older one several years ago for his birthday. He loved it. The only disappointment was running out of parts to build bigger things. Over the years I keep buying more for various occasions. The younger nephew plays with them too so I buy some for him as well. Now they have quite a collection. They really do build some very cool things. Very creative. My sister likes how it keeps them occupied. Heck, when I'm at their house, these magnets keep me occupied for a long time. I just hope when they grow up and my son is older, they pass them down to my family. :)

My sons ages 5 and 7 absolutely love this magnet set! The stuff they can build is endless. To see them using their minds instead of being on a computer is awesome! I would buy from this seller again.

I purchased this for my 4 year old daughter. It is not only exactly as described, it is better. Everything is highly organized. The box is quit sturdy with a magnetic lid (I was not expecting that). There is a heavier, sturdy foam rubber insert fit exactly to the various pieces. It makes it obvious when a piece is missing, and to know exactly which piece (color stick, ball) is missing. I love this set and am tempted to buy one for my office (my daughter will notice if I remove pieces). I won't hesitate to purchase this again for my daughter or as gifts for others. It is a very high quality magnet set. The magnets (which are in the sticks) are strong enough to dangle three of the steel balls from the end. I have been playing with this, with my daughter, for three months, and am still impressed.

I purchased both this 108 PC from CMS magnetics, as well as a smaller 44 set from Geomag (Swiss made), and wondering about the quality differences. I'll attempt a comparison of both: Geomag (other product): purchased Nov 9, shipped from UK, arrived Nov 27 CMS product (this one): purchased Nov 21, shipped from US, arrived Nov 27 Similarities: - both brands are exactly (and I mean *exactly*) the same build quality. Excellent build. Balls are stainless steel. Rods are plastic with neodymium magnets on ends. Differences: - (only) under close observation, the only visible difference I see is the minute branding etching/numbers on the rods, and more importantly, the length of these. CMS has rods about an inch long. Geomag's were slightly over 2 inches, if I recall correctly. In my case, I found having two sets of different length actually adds versatility, but arguably with the ones from CMS, you could stick two or more rods together to add length. Also, the longer length of the Geomag rods leads to greater overall structures which are somewhat more easily "crushed" by just own weight. The smaller pieces in the CMS product call for smaller structures (higher magnet density per unit volume) and hence are more stable structures. On the downside, though, you need comparably more pieces to attain the same size of a structure. I had intended this product for my toddler boy. I cannot realistically see him playing with this until he is older (maybe 5?). He would definitely like the toy at first (he is aged 3) but I can see all the small pieces scattered around the house (the steel balls, especially, do have a tendency to scatter) and/or showing to his 1-year-old sister, who might take the pieces to her mouth. I would definitely recommend going for a set of over 100 pieces, unless you are just wanting these for a desk/office toy. From what I've read, this happened to other buyers: the dads end up playing with the toy. But it is worth the money, and eventually, I'll learn to share with my son, as he grows into these.

The only downside is you're probably going to run out of the metal balls before you run out of sticks if you try and build a full pyramid. Or I might just be building it wrong (which is a real possibility). I fixed this problem by ordering another 125 piece set and a pack of the non-magnetic metal balls CMS Magnetics CMS25038 3/8" Chrome Precision Steel Ball Bearings, NOT MAGNETS - Pack of 250... but I'm kind of addicted to this -- so you probably don't need to do the same unless you want to use multiple sets. This was actually recommended to me by my therapist for distracting me when I start to have a PTSD-induced anxiety attack. It works great for that, and I highly recommend it.

My grandson is autistic. Functional, but needs his special moments. He began to build Lego things when he was a toddler and had only Duplo and those other imitation big blocks. Now he is a wizard and needed a new creative challenge. I found these on Amazon and purchased them for his birthday. HE LOVES THEM! They give him many hours of building, plus a creative freedom he didn't have before. He is 10. Thanks CMS Magnetics!

This is the perfect travel toy. They are small and come in a small box, easy to pack. This is the only toy I brought for a night in a hotel room with my 3 year old and it entertained him for hours.

My son received something similar for this 7th birthday. Unfortunately, there were only a few magnetic balls and pins. I wanted to order another set as we couldn't build anything too big and it didn't work when I tried building something while he was also building. We ended up stealing from each other! This set has slightly smaller balls and pins, but works perfectly! My son pulls out the box occasionally and builds something. Last night I was shown a flower, space ship and a couple cars. He loves the set and I can see it lasting for a long time. Now I want a set to play with too!
