I sew for a living and mainly use my serger, so I just needed a basic sewing machine with a decent number of stitch options. I bought a cheap $80 brother at Walmart and it was terrible. No power, no stitch options, and just felt cheap. I was very skeptical of this one because it was the same brand and not much more expensive, but wow. This hands-down has to be the best value around for a sewing machine that comes with several stitch options and a lot of computerized perks. Threading the needle and bobbin is a breeze! The only complaint I have is that the fastest speed isn't very fast, especially on a zig zag stitch. All in all, if you're doing basic sewing, I highly recommend!!

I was talked into buying a 3.2k sewing machine a couple weeks ago. I ended up taking it back after a week. It was a very poor fit for this beginning sewer, unlike what the salesperson had told me (of course!). I decided to do a bit of research and this machine was mentioned a lot. I have to say that it is perfect for me! It is very quiet, unlike the other machine, and easy to setup and use. I was able to fill my first bobbin ever within minutes after turning it on. I wasn't able to get a good, thin hem on the expensive machine after several tries and getting the thread tangled, which much ruined my project, but after the first try, this Brother CS6000i machine sewed a perfect hem! I'm so impressed, especially given the affordability. The machine is light weight and comes with a lot of different feet and accessories, including an extension table. The threading diagram is right on the machine and the instruction sheet for threading and inserting the bobbin is very clear. Shipping was fast! I got it within 24 hours after ordering. I'm very pleased!

To start with, I am not a sewing person..... (was going to type "sewer" but it reminded me of a toilet) My mom was a sewing person and for years did all my sewing but now has advanced Alzheimer's and I am on my own. For the last few years I have been throwing torn stuff away while thinking... when I retire I would like to learn how to sew. When this machine came up on a lightning deal I saw the great reviews and jumped on it. My sister came over and spent the day with me showing me how to thread and use it. I think she was shocked how quickly I learned to thread it. She also loves how it threads the needle. In 1978 a different sister game me a blanket for my first apartment housewarming. It is just a cheap blanket but had a lot of memories so when the blue sateen edging came off one end years ago my mom sewed it back on. Now the other end came off but was too shredded to reuse so my sister helped me decide to use the #7 stitch on this machine to keep the blanket end from unraveling. HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART: if you look at the chart in the owners manual, it tells you to use a different foot than the standard one for this stitch. The other foot is included with the machine. It was so easy to change feet and the one for stitch #7 has a raised edge where you run the edge of the blanket along so the stitch is perfect and wraps around the edge perfectly! Sooooo on my FIRST USE I: 1. winded and loaded the bobbin. 2. threaded the machine. 3. changed the foot. 4. used stitch #7 to perfectly repair my blanket!!! Attached photos are of the two repairs. My moms years ago on the blue trim. My current stitch #7 edging on opposite end with blue trim removed.

I bought this model after looking at many makes and models because it had many of the features I wanted without a lot of fancier ones I did not need. I was unsure I would like an electronic machine, had learned many years ago on a treadle machine, mom's Westinghouse and later her White machine that I inherited and let go of (regret that move). So I ordered the CS6000i which I am very pleased with. It offers so many features for a reasonable price and is easy to use. Since it had been so long since I'd threaded a machine I followed the instructions closely. The bobbin is a dream to wind and insert, the machine threads quite easily and I love that you can adjust the speed. Another thing I recommend is to buy good quality thread; have read the cheaper ones tend to snag and jam things up. I'll gladly pay more if it helps to avoid those problems. Hope this helps if you are thinking of purchasing this machine.

I am beyond pleased with this sewing machine. Living in Hawaii and being without access to many products, I use Amazon for a lot of my purchases. I have never written a review before although I rely heavily on them and base my purchases on them. I am grateful for the honest reviews that others have given, and feel compelled now to let people know about this great find. I had not touched a sewing machine in 30 years, but having recently become semi-retired, find myself with extra time on my hands and decided to try sewing again. I am a novice seamstress, so I only needed a simple machine. I researched for months before deciding on this Brother CS6000i. I am totally impressed with everything about the machine. Set-up and instructions for use were clearly explained, and it worked like a charm, even going through thick portions of material easily. My first two projects were pencil cases with zippers. I am including photos. The best thing about the pencil cases is that I used material that I found at garage sales so it cost me less than $1 each to make! I am looking forward to many more projects using my new Brother CS6000i. ADDENDUM: 7/16/2018, three years later and the sewing machine still works great!!

I have held off for a while on reviewing this because I wanted to really get some use out of it first. So after quite a few intensive projects I have to say I really like this machine! I did read the whole instruction manual and have followed it without any problems. I have had zero issues with the bobbin, tension, or skipping stiches. I have successfully used a ruffler attachment, and various rolled hem attachments with no issues. It is quiet and almost fool proof. As soon as anything goes wrong it beeps and stops stiching. Anyone who has ever stiched a mile worth of fabric only to find out your bobbin ran out 5 seconds after you started knows how frustrating that can be, but not with this machine. It immediately beeped at me and stopped untill I put a new bobbin in. Unlike my old machine that had 3 needle positions this one has a bunch for the straight stich which really helped me customize my project. The only complaint I have is the motor is not super strong so if you are trying to sew through more that 3 maybe 4 layers of fabric it's gonna be tough, the speed control did make this part a bit better. By being able to put the machine on it's slowest setting I was able to limp through the tick layer part of my project without too many problems.

I have been sewing for almost 60 years so I can hardly be classified as a beginning sewer, the oft used category for this sewing machine. After doing research and reading reviews, I bought this and have never regretted it. I love this machine. I bought it to replace a perfectly okay machine but the weight and features were more than I needed or wanted. I grew up using a Singer that only did a straight stitch and the backing stitching was manual. I used that machine to make men's suits, quilts, so many things. If you need a machine that does lots and lots and lots of stitches, you may need to keep looking. If you need a machine that sews, has the right number of stitches and lets you supply the imagination, as a beginner or advanced sewer, this may well be the one! As an engineer once told me, the more whistles and bells there are, the more there is to break. Great price too!

For a while I was debating between getting the Brother Project Runway limited edition, XL2600i, or this sewing machine (CS6000i). Initially I went with the XL2600i but quickly canceled my order after placing the order. I changed my mind because the CS6000i model had the best reviews and it seemed easier to work with (for a beginner). I had the LS2125i for a while, but getting the thread from the bobbin through the foot was such a headache and "bobbin vomit" kept occurring. I ordered the CS6000i Tuesday morning ($155 something with tax) and received the package the next day. That was quick for Prime shipping. I was so eager to use the sewing machine after I received a notification that it was delivered and came home right away to use it. I've only made one drawstring pouch so far and am in love with this sewing machine. The instructions for winding the bobbin was easy. The manuals helped a lot. I couldn't figure out the auto threading so I did it myself, it was quicker. The machine operates pretty quietly and doesn't shake like the LS2125i. It's easy to use so far! This is definitely a good investment :-).

I've had this sewing machine for several years now and I'm just now getting around to writing a review. But I have recommended this to so many of my friends and family that were looking to buy a sewing machine. I love my Brother CS6000i. It has just enough options and extras, but not too much. I am a novice sewer, I do lots of odds and ends projects and this works for so much. It has lovely stitches and stitch options, I love the drop in bobbin as well. It is easy to thread and simple to use. The reverse button on the front of the machine is also a very nice feature and the adjustable speeds is very helpful, especially if you have a heavy foot and don't want to go a 100 miles an hour unintentionally. I also work with a lot of denim and have had no issues, it sews through thicker materials quite well. This machine in my opinion is excellent, especially for the price, which is unbeatable for the quality. If you are looking for a quality, easy to use sewing machine for under $200 this is the one for you! 100% Recommend this whether you are new to sewing or have been sewing for years, this machine is great.
