Delicious, PURE
Great deal... and really great to know it is glyphosate (roundup) free!!! Seems tastier than the gmo stuff we ate for years. This product also has the advantage of being shipped not in plastic, but in paper, which makes a difference! This is our product of choice now.

Easy and quick to make and delicious to eat.
I’ve been experimenting with these oats over the past month after trying to find something high in fiber and low on the Glycemic Index (GI) that wouldn’t spike my blood sugar and just cause weight gain. By understanding the GI better, these oats were a great solution. I literally pick these now on trips due how easy they can be prepared. I throw in some peanut butter and a dab of honey and cinnamon and it tastes fantastic. They do a great job at both keeping me full, satisfying my hunger during breakfast, and most important to me, helping maintaining my weight.

Value and Organic Favors Country Choice
Recently I've substituted steel cut oats for our cereal of choice after years of eating rolled oats (both regular and quick cook). I've tried McCanns and Country Choice, and since there are many reviews already posted, I'll slant mine based on Taste (mouth), Flavor (nose), Preparation, and Value. I rate Taste (nutty and chewy) and Flavor (pleasant aroma) a dead heat (5*). I also looked at the Nutrition Labels of McCanns, Country Choice, and Quaker's rolled oats, both regular and instant. List included calories, total fats, carbs, fiber, and protein and all were virtually identical from a nutritional standpoint Preparation. I've cooked all types of oatmeal via stove top but have not used the microwave. However, for the steel cut oats I also used a rice cooker, a Zojirushi model that had the capability for making porridge (this is the setting you want to use for steel cut oats), and this model had a timer that could be set in advance to finish cooking at a predetermined time. Although use of the rice cooker still requires a passage of time, actual cooking is automatic, whereas using the stovetop required at least 25-30 minutes of simmering and close supervision to prevent scorching. (Of course, rolled oats takes less time.) Value: McCann's oats comes in a very attractive and elegant metal container (28 oz) and stresses the fact that it's Irish in origin whereas Country Choice comes in a cardboard container(30 oz) similar to the rolled oats type and boasts the fact that it is home grown (Minnesota) and is certified "organic." It should be noted that McCann also packages its steel cut oats in a cardboard box (16 oz). If you make your purchase via Amazon (current prices) and disregard the shipping expense, the per ounce cost is: McCann's 28 oz container cost 20.6 cents, McCann's 16 oz container cost 19.13 cents, and Country Choice cost 11.27 cents. Since my personal evaluation finds both products even in Taste and Flavor, and both have similar cooking methodologies, my FIVE STAR choice is for the home grown, organic certified Country Choice which is also a big budget saver.

Superior oatmeal!
This is the best oatmeal I have ever used. I bake professionally and use it in my recipes. We also eat it almost every morning for breakfast. It is far superior to anything you will find in the grocery store.

Five star oatmeal!
It is near impossible to find affordable gluten free oats in my city. It is outright impossible to find steel cut gluten free oats that don’t cost an arm and a leg for a tiny amount. As a gluten free stay at home parent, I’ve been searching for the most cost effective ways to eat healthily and meet my dietary needs (lots of food intolerances). This six pack is GREAT. Pros: 1. Quality. I’ve had good oats and bad oats. These are delicious. 2. Cost. This is the most cost effective way I’ve found to get steel cut GF oats in my area 3. Quantity. I’m stocked up for a while. I make a weekly batch of steel cut oats in the instant pot, so I like that I won’t have to purchase again for a few months. Cons: 1. Making space for the six containers. We don’t have a pantry. Perhaps you do, and then this wouldn’t be a con!

Pretty darned tasty, good texture, and digest pretty well.
These have better texture than the Irish oats I used to eat. I pressure cook them for 10 minutes, and they come out nice and chewy, very tasty with blueberries, pecans, a little bit of maple syrup and stevia. I toast/saute a cup of them dry in a little bit of butter for a few minutes, then I add slightly under 2 cups of water (for chewier instead of gummier at 2 cups), and pressure cook for 10 minutes. It makes enough for 2 servings, and add 3 ounces of wild blueberries, 1 oz of maple syrup, 2oz of pecans, and 1/8th tsp-1/4th tsp of stevia, and it tastes delicious! No "older oats" taste, any of taste, or powder in the containers I've tried. They're slightly smaller than you would think from the picture, but slightly larger than the Irish oats cans.

Great organic breakfast food
I've never had steel cut oats before. If you want them ready quick, soak over night, or even for a whole day. Soaking makes digestion easier too. I use water to soak during the day, then drain at night, then use almond milk to soak overnight. Then you can quick microwave it in the morning for a minute or too and it's good. The texture is still different, it's a bit chewier than quick oats, but I like it. You can add blueberries or whatever to it as well. It helps keep you full. The fact it's organic and was a good price is a huge plus too. I see it in the stores but it's always much more expensive and the container is smaller! I'd rather buy it here.

Organic rolled oats at a great price!
I've been trying to switch to organic foods as much as possible - especially for grains!! I learned recently that many non-organic grains are sprayed with glyphosate (Roundup) right before harvest - in order TO harvest them! Basically unethical farming companies are using a weed-killer, not to kill weeds, but in order to get the grains to hurry up (by dessicating them), so the companies can harvest them faster. (Please research more on your own - this is just my novice explanation of the process. It's well worth researching!!) Because the grains are sprayed with Roundup just a couple days before harvest, we as consumers are eating those nasty and harmful chemicals! Thus my switch to as much organic food as possible. Oats and grains in particular are often sprayed with Roundup, so I have really been searching for affordable organic oats. It's been hard for me to find organic oats for a reasonable price in grocery stores / health food stores, so I started looking online! Target also has this brand at a comparable price, but because Target has a minimum purchase cost for shipping, it's much better (and easier) for me to buy them through Amazon! :) These oats have a great taste and texture - highly recommended!! I use them for oatmeal of course, and also for making cashew-oat waffles, apple crisp, etc. They function just like the oats you'd buy at a grocery store, but I know these organic ones are MUCH healthier for me!! This will definitely be my go-to brand in the future!

Best Oatmeal Ever!
Now this is how oatmeal should taste! I cook them in my instant pot - high pressure for 11 min, turn off and use natural pressure release. 1 1/2 cups oats 3 3/4 cups water. They reheat nicely.

As a long-time user of McCann's steel cut oats (quick version), I had that on Subscribe & Save here in order to get the best price. I did not like the price rising, so gave Country Choice Organic Quick a try. I may never go back. I don't find Country Choice better than McCann's, but it is different, very good in its own way, and has a more pleasing price. I'd read reviews here about the container being inferior, so I saved one of my McCann's containers to transfer the product - but now I see no reason to do that. This paperboard-type container is just fine, a bit floppy, but it works. I also read a review that Country Choice is good if you like to chew not-so-soft oatmeal, and that could not be further from my experience. The standout difference between McCann's and Country Choice is that the latter is much softer, almost fluffy, and I cook them the same way. My proportions are a cup (generous, sometimes I go a bit over) of water to 1/3 cup oats (also a hair generous at times), and I cook the oats for 7 minutes. Surprisingly enough, if I had to choose which of the two brands is better for clean digestion (euphemism - lol), it would be Country Choice. I say it's surprising because one would think that a rougher oatmeal would do a better cleaning job. Boy oh boy, my days have been going great, because I have a good start in the morning!
