No more ineffective poisons for my flea control
We have had fleas for the past two or three years, even through the winter. Our local pet store has told us that the fleas are "really bad this year". After almost killing our beloved dog last summer I swore off using any more poison to treat fleas. We had diatomaceous earth covering our floors for several weeks last summer and it helped some to keep the fleas from biting me. But Chester continued to scratch and scratch through the winter. When the weather finally got warm enough to put these nematodes out I did so. Although we were still getting frequent freezes and I thought that most of the fleas he was getting must have been ones that were hatching indoors Chester seemed to almost immediately be less bothered. Within a month he has stopped scratching. This is very surprising since I thought that there would still be fleas inside. I haven't put any diatomaceous earth out since the end of the summer last year.

Cure for green house woes!
I tried all kind of organic products to try to get rid of the gnats in my greenhouse. Bonide, Safer, Neem Oil, soaps, alcohol and various other methods including vinegar and sticky paper. This product knocked the gnats out after a week. It was making me go crazy every time I went into water. They would fly up from the soil. Today, not one was to be found! I put some in my house plants and no more are flying around inside. I had issues going on for months and now I am thinking I need to do my whole yard.

These guys work...
We used these last summer on the yard to help control white grubs (various beetle larvae). We live in Florida, and every type of bug grows down here. Used to be able to dig up a shovel of soil and it always had grubs of various sizes in it. We were planting fruit trees in the yard, so we got to see this several times. The nematodes really worked. We spray-applied with a hose-end sprayer and then watered a lot to make sure they made it down into the soil. Not too long after applying, a few weeks later, maybe a month, the next tree we were planting, we noticed far fewer grubs...we actually had to dig around and look for grubs on purpose, instead of them being visible in every shovel-full of dirt. And we didn’t find many. A wonderful side-effect is that we had fewer ants. We went through a canister of orthene every month trying to keep the fire ants at bay. We tried to keep them from encroaching on the patio area, and from around the fruit trees. After applying, we noticed fewer and fewer new mounds, and eventually we had no more fear of walking around in the yard. We’re noticing the ants starting to come back, and we found some grubs under a fruit tree, so it’s time to apply again!!

Fleas no more
We bought this to combat a flea infestation in our yard; works awesome. Our yard is native plants and gets a little rangy, the odd local feral cat will from time to time take up residence and the fleas like it so much, they stay. We put this out and water well (which fleas love too by the way) and after a few days, no more fleas.

Fungus gnats are GONE!
Product arrived quickly and in good shape. I honestly don't remember if they had a cold pack or not, but I do remember they were out of the original box for some reason (original box was included thankfully, because it has the instructions on it). I ordered during a cool period here in the PNW, so I wasn't too concerned about temperatures at the time. I plan to order more in the spring, so I'll update that info then since I know it's one of the things people like to know about this product. The nematodes were inside a small plastic tupperware sort of thing, akin to a small sour cream container. Inside that was little chunks of a spongy looking sort of thing which, as I understand it, serve as a carrier for the nematodes themselves. Before use, I did a cursory check for viability using 60x magnification. I'm no scientist, but I absolutely did see little squirmy worms in there. It actually took me a minute but once I figured out what I was looking at/for, they were all over the place. Break for a little happy dance, and we're back to the show... As I said, the box has instructions printed on the side. Seems pretty easy to understand (and it is), but there are some options to choose from depending on your specific use. I'm doing a small container garden indoors, as I'm sure some of you are too. So here's what I did... The instructions say something about soaking the nematodes in water for 5 minutes (something like that, just read the box). I was only using a portion of the quantity ordered, so I transferred that portion to another container and adjusted my water amount accordingly. I then prepared some peat moss. I prefer 100% peat to pro-mix or similar, so I used 100% sphagnum peat moss (~$12/3cu.ft. at Home Depot) and I think some lime to buffer ph, but check what ph these nematodes like to be sure you get it the way you want it. I forget if I added any, sorry about that. When I make another batch, I will update this review. Otherwise just use Pro-Mix or Sunshine #4 or whatever makes you feel good, it's not that big a deal. I used about half a 5 gallon bucket for my application. So then I took my prepared nematodes, along with a good bit of extra water (get a couple gallons, use what you need), to a roughly half-filled 5 gallon bucket and mixed lovingly to make something of a slurry. I promptly top dressed my container garden with this slurry and watered it in well. Points to mention: I allowed my containers to somewhat dry out before application. This is for a couple of reasons...fungus gnats don't like that, and this application process involves a good bit of watering. I added the slurry right before "lights out". While I would normally advocate for watering container plants at "lights on", this is an exception because these little nematodes are like ninjas, or Spec Op assassins, which ever you prefer. Point being they prefer the cover of darkness to make their entry. I have a suspicion that a good EWC/compost tea will do the same as these nematodes (only "better" for my purpose), but I don't have anything to back that up. Experiments are ongoing, but I'm currently out of fungus gnats. Summary: If you have (or would like not to have) fungus gnats in your container garden, this product, used correctly, is what you need. I found it easy to use and, as near as I can tell, absolutely effective (read: no more fungus gnats).

Got rid of grubs
Works great, got rid of grubs in my soil and haven't seen any fleas on me and my dog. I applied these in the fall and last week when I tilled my backyard, usually see many grubs but I only found 2. I've tried chemicals in the past but this worked much better after not seeing hardly any grubs and no fleas. I would definitely buy this again especially, this brand, I like the way they are delivered and the instructions are much better as I have tried others. I also applied around foundation of my home because I get fire ants around air conditioner outside and carpenter ants around trees, I will update this review this summer and give you results.

Flea free for the first time in years
Bought this last year (2015) to help with fleas. Applied as instructed and not a single flea on our four dogs or the cat all season. Update: 2017 another year of fleadom. Have not seen a flea since I started using this product in my back yard. This will be my third season of treating my yard with this product. No poisons, flea treatments or other expensive bothersome products. I have 3 small dogs and one big (150+ pounds) and an indoor cat (which is a real pain to bathe, like have to get antibiotics pain :) and haven't had an issue since using this Downside: it's a bit of a pain to apply. I water the area prior to application and put it in an old miracle gro sprayer and shake it constantly as I apply it. Then I'll turn it upside down and shake and repeat the application. Seems to work well for me. Has has no effect on my local bees that frequent my garden.

No more fleas!!!
This product does exactly what it says. I have two dogs, one that is particularly allergic to fleas. A couple years ago I tried a similar product from Home Depot that really did the trick but they stopped selling it. Last summer I did not apply any nematodes to my yard and I was over run with these pests. My dog had to wear a cone throughout the summer because every time she went out she would pick up one or two so I was constantly having to spray and bathe her. Took a shot on Dr. Pye's and I didn't regret it. They arrived on time and just followed the simple instructions and no more cone or fleas! I will be buying again next spring.

Real Deal
These babies are incredible. I bought a new house last year, and all last summer I couldn't spend more than two minutes in the yard without dousing myself in deep woods off. Gnats in particular were horrible, large cylindrical swarms would park themselves in specific areas and refused to budge As soon as it warmed up this spring the gnats immediately came out in force again. After doing research I bought these nematodes. Within 2 weeks - no more gnats! As a bonus I'm sitting outside on 4th of July in Indianapolis after a rainy spring/early summer and I'm amazed I haven't had a mosquito bite in ages. Typically I'm dead meat, especially sweating after working out or yard work Follow the application instructions carefully. I doused it too heavily on a few sections of lawn and it browned out a couple weeks. But rainfall restored it, nothing permanent I now keep 100% organic in the yard, and these things work much better than chemicals I've used in the past (malathion e.g.) so it's a real blessing. Good stuff!

Great product that I will buy again
When we first got our plot at the local community garden, the soil was riddled with grubs everywhere. I used this and a month later, hardly any to been seen when digging. Now, no grubs at all in our plot even though gardeners in the neighboring plots are still complaining about grubs and the japanese beetles to come. Great product that I will buy again.
